Disney to Reveal Ambitious Star Wars Plans

Well, it's really a hybrid wish-list, arm-chair imagineering and speculation until some vague announcement is made at D23 with more orange crates.

...and then we'll speculate more. ;)

Those are all synonyms for the same thing. And last I checked, there was a forum for that sort of thing.

It would be nice to limit the news and rumors threads to actual news and rumors and keep the armchair imagineering/wish-list/speculations in that thread. But I've been through enough SW and Marvel threads to know better.

The unofficial guide to Disneyland's author claims that Luigi's Tire's is closing to make way for a Cars version of Autopia. Leaving the original Autopia area to be a Star Wars expansion. Sounds kind of familiar to Back Lot Tour's sudden closure.

No where near enough room for that at Lugi's. Lugi's is barely large enough to hold just the loading area of Autotopia.

Via the kind offices of Mikey C from TDO. DL is about to experience the most MAGICal attraction of all the "Being Refurbisment for your Future Enjoyment" wall which will be up for the next decade or so...

The new Luigi's will be a Cars version of AQUAtopia. Looks like the author got it wrong.
Yep, there is the concept art. If they tried to fit a version of Autotopia there is wold require expanding into Harbor Blvd. and across the street. Not much space where Luigi's is.

I agree with you… But there's no stopping it. It's like the fable of the little boy with his finger in the dike. (The Dutch one.)

It's just a typo, definitely Aquatopia... swap cars for water pods and the concept art would be identical.

Will that be Disneyland's first trackless ride?

Well let's hope DL gets something awesome instead of the awesome expanse of construction walls with nothing going on as Mikey C is so famous for in Orlando

Exactly. Autopia takes up more room than all of Fantasyland at DL. There's nowhere near enough space at Luigi's.
This just makes me wish all of Autopia was removed for a massive reworking of Disneyland.

  1. Big Thunder Ranch/Frontierland/top left corner of the park (through some backstage relocation): Western River Expedition, Geyser Mountain, new Country Bears show, Oz mini-land, TSI revamp
  2. Fantasyland Theater, 80% of Autopia: New Fantasyland expansion... includes Neverland mini-land (Peter Pan's Flight in E-ticket form, Pixie Hollow play area), 100 Acre Wood mini-land (Hunny Hunt and flat ride), Wonderland mini-land (Alice ride, Labyrinth, Tea Cups), Arendale mini-land (Olaf flat ride, mini shoot-the-chutes D ticket: 38"), replacement for old Peter Pan building (Mary Poppins), and the new land Mythica (Bald Mountain E-ticket, Fantasia Gardens, Hercules dark ride, new stunt show, massive play area)
  3. Innoventions/Tomorrowland/20% of Autopia: revamped PeopleMover, Big Hero 6 replacement for Buzz, GotG replacement for Star Tours, Original Time Travel E-ticket
  4. Toontown: Star Wars Land (Death Star D ticket dark ride, E-ticket speedbike coaster, Star Tours E-ticket using KUKA arm X-Wings, Jedi Training, Ewok play area)

I've been lurking on these forums for awhile, and would like to weigh in on "ambitious" plans for Star Wars at the Disney Parks. Since I live in Florida, I'm most concerned about plans at WDW. With Star Tours, it is easy to envision a greatly expanded "Star Wars Land" at DHS.

I hope that Imagineers might consider a NEW Star Wars-themed luxury hotel at WDW. DHS is the only one of the four parks that does not currently have a luxury hotel associated with it. I could see a variety of designs from which to choose, including Naboo architecture to a "City in the Clouds." It looks like there is plenty of land for such a hotel on the west side of World Drive (opposite the Earful Tower). The hotel could then be connected to DHS via a People Mover themed to Star Wars (and that People Mover could later be extended west toward Animal Kingdom to provide alternative transport between parks).

An adult-intergalactic-beverage cantina at such a hotel would be a great late night spot, versus within a park that often closes by 7 p.m. I'm hoping that Disney Imagineers are reading this and that their design ideas are going wild.

What do others think?

I love it!
