Disney to Reveal Ambitious Star Wars Plans

I dont get it though? TWDC didnt advertise FLE as something 'nice'. The live chats with Imagineers, the commercials, TDPB all hailed it as much much more than something that will be 'nice'. Im not being argumentative either so please dont take it that way. So many people now fall back on claims like "it was just supposed to be nice", but that clearly was not the case during its construction, ESPECIALLY for 7DMT
That's not fair. Obviously the marketing materials are going to make it seem like a huge deal. That's what marketing is. I don't think there's anyone who knows anything that saw those plans and expected anything like what we expect from Avatar or Star Wars (even with an absence of even basic plans for the latter).

But is it any more fair to now say 'it was just meant to be nice'. Thats awfully deceptive and only reaffirms that people should now have the "wait and see" attitude because Disney obviously has no problems with advertising one product and delivering another. Again, not arguing, just asking.

I really wish they'd do something with Marvel. That property is just too hot right now not to do anything. As much as I love Star Wars, and I really do, something permanent with Marvel would just kill it.

I'm a Star Wars fan. I'm a Disney fan. I can't wait to see what happens when Disney brings more Star Wars to the parks. But a part of me (the Dark Side I guess) is looking forward to bathing in the tears of disappointed Star Wars fans five years from now when Disney unveils the SW equivalent of New Fantasyland.

Actually, what will be even more entertaining, is watching fans trying to convince themselves that Disney built something awesome. Like all the people who use "E-ticket" and "Mine Train" in the same sentence. There's likely going to be some fans grappling with reality when this thing finally opens. By which time, my 4th grader will likely be in high school...

Hoping for the best. Preparing for the worst.

For those wanting Marvel, as lebeau said, a certain park down the street does it pretty nicely, for what the area is. And DCA supposedly will be adding some sort of Marvel area, mostly meet and gropes and a coaster. That's the current rumor anyway ... and you can always fly to Hong Kong after Iron Man opens. Not to mention there's rumors of Disney Studios in Paris getting some Marvel at some point ... not gonna happen in Florida, which is why they need to do Star Wars right.

I'm holding my breath... I may pass out.

I'm praying that Disney proves the naysayers here wrong.

With Disney doing Star Wars, the bar of expectations has never been higher and that's the true challenge.
I think they'll pull it off. They feel the "pressure" from other theme parks and with the new technologies coming out I'm sure they'll deliver. As long as they keep the experience one of a kind, I will have no problem with whatever they do.

Its almost like you have a crystal ball! And its true, you still see people trying to defend 7DMT as an E ticket or that FLE actually IS what they advertised it as. I just dont get it. Its as if admitting that its not as good as they hoped will create a tear in the subspace field of their reality. If Disney delivers a FLE equivalent for SW Land, I can only imagine the back and forth that will ensue here.

Whose expectations have never been higher? Star Wars/Disney fans. I think these people are setting themselves up for the biggest disappointment since Jar Jar Binks.

Has anything Disney has done in the last decade suggested that Disney is going to rise to the occasion and really make sure they deliver what fans are clamoring for? That they will "do it right"? I'm not seeing a lot in their recent past to expect that in the near future.

I do expect them to take what they consider to be a pre-sold IP and use it to prop up attractions which are "good enough". I expect the additions to look great, roll out slowly and ultimately not amount to very much. I'm hoping I'm wrong as much as you are. But Disney's not giving me any reason to expect more than that.

Absolutely.

Two rides to replace two rides. Net gain of zero.

More lavish than one of those that were replaced of course.

Fantasyland lost Snow White and gained Beast Castle, Mermaid Ride, Seven Dwarves, and Storytime with Belle. Not to mention increased capacity and better placement thematically for Dumbo(the indoor play area is a godsend)!

Just throwing this out there, but EPCOT Center was built in three years and it's twice the size of the MK. In this day and age, and when we're not talking about building an entirely new park, rather adding something in the middle of a "24/7/365" park... I fear those days of "build it or bust" are over. I truly fear how long StarWhateverLand will take. Look how long Avatarland is taking, and it's totally on the fringes of AK (that is, out of the way). Heck, tearing down the stupid BAH took 49 days.

With Disney doing Star Wars, the bar of expectations has never been set higher with WDI and that's the true challenge.
The question is though, does the current administration even care about that bar of expectations anymore? They seem to operate less on delivering on high expectations and more so on relying on the fact that "its Disney World, people will visit regardless and the newly molded generation of brand advocating, low standard accepting fans will defend it no matter what and for no other reason than the simple fact that...ITS DISNEY, YAY!!!!".

Every fiber of my being is also hoping they prove the naysayers (myself included) wrong as well.
