Disney to Reveal Ambitious Star Wars Plans

It netted 1 attraction, lots of concrete, poor forced perspective, and a restaurant. Getting more people in an already overcrowded park with little more to do is not a win. The urbanizing of the HUB area is adding more capacity to the park's too. Is the concrete, fake grass, lack of shade, and destruction of the castle reveal from Main Street worth packing more people into an overcrowded park with no new attractions to occupy people a win for guests? I guess after standing/sitting in the new hub area to hold your place for fireworks for a few hours is the win?

Back to topic:

Star Wars area only needs to be well themed to be considered sucessful? So if we keep the same attraction count at DHS that was there last year ( prior to the attractions lost for what may be coming) that is successful?

I am very skeptical of the "new" things being added in all areas of DHS. Themeing off the shelf carnival rides like the garbage at DCA 1.0 and the Chester/Hester garbage at AK is not a win for park guests. Original attractions are needed. DHS or whatever it's rebranded in the future will still be a half day park if a concerted effort is not made to bulk up the attractions count and deliver the "Old Disney Quality" in all of it's new offerings.

Let's keep a wait and see attitude when it comes to DHS and the Star Wars development that is not even out of planning yet.

I think our tangent proved that theming only takes you so far. You need to have rides/entertainment to complement the new theming.

7DMT is certainly more up to date than Snow White's Scary adventures, but there was never any replacement for 20k Leagues... Little mermaid is OK...speaking of, wasn't it supposed to reopen today?
my point is, for the money spent, the expansion could have been so much more...
but yes it did add some capacity...but no real net gain figuring the attractions they closed.

I'm not sure we can know that the expansion could have netted more for the same amount of money. If it's an e-ticket you want, the expansion likely would have been that alone and not much else.

I hate that we must now employ the "wait and see" attitude when Disney builds something in Orlando. We can only hope they understand how much of an impact a truly well themed Star Wars development would not only help HS, but all of WDW.

If only there was an example in Florida of a theme park that made an unbelievably well themed area with rides, live and animatronic entertainment, good food and unique retail products. It would make a great example for disney to use as an goal.

What is the alternative to waiting and seeing what TDO creates?

You see I want to agree with you but if they themed everything in the new star wars area to those new cartoons, added nothing but spinners and carnival rides, you probably would see the drones show up in numbers.

That is a big fear of mine as well. Will they continue to rely on the sub par standards they have acclimated guests to, or will they make an attempt raise the bar to the once great standards they had? And before anybody trots out FLE as some type of example of said higher standard, please dont. Thats not me bashing FLE either, its nice, but thats all it is.

..and that's all it was supposed to be. I think the first indicator we'll have of Star Wars will be Avatar.

There is no alternative. But I was so excited for FLE, I expected my first experience of it to be much more than it was. When the first phase opened, most reactions were mild and everybody was saying "lets wait and see" when 7DMT opens it will tie it all together, its gonna blow people away! 7DMT is a fun ride, Ive been on it several times now. It could have been an amazing attraction, but its like TWDC decided to go for 'good enough' rather than knock their socks off'. I was not expecting the most miraculous thing ever built either, but it just didnt feel the same as when I saw Splash Mountain, or Everest being built and then experiencing them. I walked away from those wanting to go right back, and not just for the ride, but for everything. The queue, the sights, the music, all of it. Granted, those are E ticket attractions, but why should an entire land be any less exciting? Same thing with TT 2.0 I could just feel the lack of anything really exciting. They just changed it a little. Dont get me wrong, TT 2.0 is not bad, but they didnt make it better IMO.

Im not saying what they have produced in the last few years is the worst, but it definitely is far from their best.

New Fantasyland has well themed exteriors. I've never been sold on the forced perspective with Beast's castle but that's probably just me. The insides lack. Mermaid got plussed (well, how the ride should of been). Mine Train has a great show scene (it needs more than one) ... but let's be real. Mermaid replaced Snow White. Mine Train replaced 20,000 (or vice versa, however you want to view it). They were just giving us back capacity lost. And with Beast's Castle, considering, what, four restaurants, sit empty, they're giving us back that too. They're not giving us true expansion, they're replacing what was taken away over the years.

:hilarious:

Actually there was one once I think it was called Walt Disney World, But it was bought out by IgerCo and added to the IgerCo brands. It's now the WDW Mall.

I dont get it though? TWDC didnt advertise FLE as something 'nice'. The live chats with Imagineers, the commercials, TDPB all hailed it as much much more than something that will be 'nice'. Im not being argumentative either so please dont take it that way. So many people now fall back on claims like "it was just supposed to be nice", but that clearly was not the case during its construction, ESPECIALLY for 7DMT
