I found it incredible that they removed a water play area at Pop rather than fix it, while at the same time opening up a brand new resort right across the lake that had one. Why bother installing it if it won't last ten years?

YUP...but they closed a play area at AOA also. In the Nemo section . I have a picture somewhere. Something kids would climb akk over. It was a coral jungle gym looking structure.

Perhaps they were not prepared for kids to climb on a "jungle gym looking structure".

Was it this thing? It looks like it contains toxic levels of "fun" and materials known to the state of California to cause "laughter".

I think so. They had a large sign in front of it with ropes around it saying it was closed. Some kid probably got a boo boo and had to get a spray of antiseptic and a band aid. Ruined they families whole trip. I am sure a lawsiut ensued.

The best would be the Dolphin, hands down. It is an EPCOT resort, after all. And I am a big fan of SPG anyway. But my last 'win' there was 11 nights in 2004 for $69 a night. It comes up very rarely these days.

The Rosen Shingle Creek is a beautiful resort and at $43 a night, which is what I paid the week before Christmas, it is VERY hard to beat.

I've gotten the DD Hilton for as little as $49 a night, but generally get it for $60.

Gaylord Palms is great, but generally comes up at higher prices points (as do Orlando Marriott World Center and Hyatt Grand Cypress).

Thing is, even with resort fees and/or parking fees at some, they still come in less than rack rate at a WDW value in the cheapest season.

Thanks for that - we will probably try one of those this fall. One of the guys I work with stays at the Gaylord Palms with his family occasionally and says good thing about it too.

Gaylord is a great convention hotel. But its a convention hotel so it prices food/etc accordingly. But it's got an awesome atrium with bars and resturants and overall it's atmosphere/finish is pretty nice.

Do spirits need a travel agent license? ;)

I dunno, but there seems to be more Disney-specialized TAs (many somehow attatched to Lifestylers sites) than any other specialized form of travel. I find that sorta crazy considering how easy it is to book a WDW vacation and how TAs can't exactly negotiate the best deal for you since Disney doesn't engage in that.

Still, TAs do get free trips all the time because, after all, you need to experience the product to sell it.

Maybe one day if my life keeps dropping me from the Top 1%, I'll consider it.

WDW should just close its entire resort because it all is a lawsuit waiting to happen, right?

Colleges are on Spring Break, this week and next. Public Schools for kids would be the week before/after Easter which is March 31. Avoid WDW during this time period.

MK really sucked today. I did not expect the crowd that was there.

I guess those college kids really were hoping those hot Tangled toilets were open!

I have learned the hard way that spring break, between public and private schools and the same with colleges and universities, that pretty much as soon as you hit President's weekend it starts and it doesn't end until the weekend after Easter. It just is going to ebb and flow, but generally be very crowded until about April 6-7. Then, it will be quite pleasant.

Dont do it....Me and another well known member here have given it up. The benifits given by Disney to thier agents have been reduced.....imagine that. Also out of any vendor you sell for, Disney pays the least....10%
Your giving the public way to much credit..... We mostly cater to the first timers or large groups and people who just dont want to hassle with it. You would think that it was easy but you are very knowledgeable about WDW. Disney has actually made it harder and harder with the advent of ADR's and now NG. I honestly am glad I got out before NG has been rolled out. I cant imagine trying to book Fp's for a large group in advance. I still recieve emails from Disney that are TA centric. They still havnt provided training that is specific to NG which is very telling in when it will be rolled out. I mean wouldnt you think that they would have training for the TA's before it was installed? We really dont know anymore about it then the general public. As far as "free trips" are concerned. You get free lodging mostly which is nice. As for Disney you just get a discounted trip. Along the lines of a CM discount. There was a time when you would get freebies but with number of TA's explodeing they had to cut that back. We are offered "fam" trips all over the world but you pay for your own transportation. There ae people who make good money at it but its not easy. You being a 1%er probably have a lot of friends and connections with big dollars and might do nicely in the buisness.

TA's don't get free trips.. especially to Disney - they get "some" discounts but only if they have a CLIA/IATA # of their own (can't just be a home based travel agent with a few sells here and there under an umbrella agency). The discounts are cheaper tickets (but only for a few days), discounts on hotel rooms (but they are close to AP discounts), etc.

That all depends if the TAs in question are the owners of their agency, and how much business it brings in for Disney.

I have friends at MK pulling 12-hour shifts this week--and actually glad to do it because the Mouse has been stingy with the hours up to now this year.

No doubt Easter weeks will be worse; I think we are still riding the wave that brought in huge numbers last Fall and over MLK weekend. (Trips were booked when gas was half a buck cheaper.) Also, EPCOT has the potential to get very busy on the weekends if word spreads among fanbois and the Winter Park crowd about the new "Half Food & Wine Festival."

We stayed there once a few years ago and it was great!

Are you a TA? I think you are mistaken on this. I have been offered discounts on DCL.If you go to the trip reports you will find some from Ta;s who are home based that recieved discounts on DCL. Never heard of park ticket discounts. Disney dosnt discount those to much. Other then the number allowed on thier pass CM's only get like a 10% discount. I also remember getting an offer for AOA. Although there is a difference if the agency you work through is an "earmarked" agency or not. TA's getting free trips? No not a 100% free but there are many trips where lodgeing and food are free. As mentioned by 49er if you are a top seller there is a ton of trips offered. As far as a CLIA/IATA number is concerned they are not that hard to get if you work at it. I was a home based agent and it didnt seem to hinder me iin anyway I could tell.
