Disney Springs development to bring massive expansion to Buena Vista Drive

Can someone tell me what the building is in the top right corner of the pedestrian bridge photo and when it was built? If this is at the corner of the access road heading into Team Disney, there never used to be a building on that corner (and it's not even there in Google Earth). I'm usually very current on what they're building all over the property, but this building somehow managed to escape me.

EDIT: It looks like on Street View that it was under construction in July 2014 yet not really visible from the street because there was a forest of trees in front of it. Now those trees are all gone, so it looks as if it is sitting right on the main road.

Here's the Street View in July 2014... https://goo.gl/maps/zNhPi

Can someone help me identify this building? :) Thanks!
its one of the new cast services buildings, not sure exactly when it was built, but it is part of the motivation for the construction of the pedestrian bridge

Photo update as of Tuesday, Mar 10. The three sections of the Buena Vista Drive elevated crosswalk were bolted together (not welded, as each section had open ended trusses for bolts) over the last few days and now consists of one large span supported on wooden blocks at the side of the road. The span has a pronounced arch so it won't require a center support.

I dunno when there gonna do it, but would be awesome if someone could get some pics/video of it being moved into place

its going to require at least two, maybe three cranes.

Apparently it's being put in place on march 19th according to OTPN. The road will be closed from 1-7am.

What type of entertainment will be coming to Disney Springs - any musicals / Broadway type shows?
no nothing like that.

so far other than la nouba its just either go to the movies, or theres suppose to be "live" entertainment like bands and stff at some of the bars

while i know it wont happen, some kind of other venue for the type of productions you suggest would be nice, and could easily be worked into an expansion of the west side along with a future third parking garage.

disney sponsors the theater that holds Broadway productions in downtown Orlando so they dont see a reason to build one of their own on site, as they wouldn't want to pull people out of the parks

Yeah it's prob going ot be closed the whole 6 hours too.

The plan is to put another one in May near Hotel Plaza. There will likely be a third inbetween the two eventualy.

a third? says who?

what would be the source of foot traffic in the middle?

the south one is to serve the cast member building/parking areas

the north is to serve the hotel plaza blvd consumer traffic, my guess would be it should be wider to accomodate more people strollers etc, as the south one doesnt look more than like 5/6 feet wide.

The first one is primarily for Cast, so it doesn't really need to accommodate strollers.

I thought there were two going in at the intersection of Hotel Plaza & Buena Vista Drive. One crosses Hotel Plaza only, just west of the intersection. The second would cross Buena Vista Drive, from the first overpass over to Downtown Disney. Pedestrians coming from the Hilton or Holiday Inn side of the road would need to use both overpasses to get to the shopping center.

Yep the hotel plaza bridge is in two parts.

not sure what your meaning that people would need to use two bridges that doesn't sound right.

Yep the hotel plaza bridge is in two parts.
like this I'm guessing, though technically there isn't tons of traffic on the branch for the third bridge, but it makes sense to go ahead and build it and make it safe rather than risking incidents in the future.

does anyone know if theres been cases of people getting hit prior to all the construction mess to know if its being done for an issue other than increased traffic from the redevelopment .

hope someone gets some pics/video of it, video would be great.

the purple line needs to move to the other side of the intersection but otherwise yes. I'll try to dig up some concept art for this. Update: found it

BTW i had to screen shot these because the links wouldn't work. I did go ahead and make them a little bigger while i was at it though.

dunno what those links are suppose to be they dont go anywhere

edit: they work from this quoted post

this explains the third bridge, since its really part of the second bridge.

thats kinda cool the way it takes people directly into the marketplace, rather than simply to the corner.

while the ideal thing would have been to only have to cross one bridge, there isn't much space on the south side of the intersection on the hilton side.

I edited with the images. reload the page. I agree that your way would make more sense but I think you are also right that it was an issue of room. The blue bridge is going to go over a dedicated bus lane in addition to the road.

i dont think thats a bus lane just a service road, as in the later drawings the marketplace bus stop was removed and replaced with two new buildings, and the surface parking lot in those drawings was replaced with a cast member building.

its nice though that the bridge will go over all the roads so the people from the hilton wont have to interact with traffic at all.

if disney woulda been smart they could have bought the hilton and changed it to the disney springs hotel or something, since it would be super easy to connect that pedestrian bridge right into the lobby.

i still wish they were incorporating some type of people mover or trolley or something to get from the marketplace, past the town center and over to the west side without walking or soley using the low capacity boats.

like i proposed here:
The Red Car Trolly would be perfect.

a layout like the purple line with stations at the yellow dots is like what i'm talking about,
with this type of layout guest interaction is limited, and the path for the trolly could be shared with BOH vehicles.

it track in orange could be designed with the pathways and landscape in such a way to make it grade separated thus further reducing risks of guest blockage. though not sure why this would be a problem as they've already built the red car trolly and you dont hear stories of people getting run over.

in a perfect world the trolly would have screens with images like the train at universal to make it fully emersive into the idea theme of the springs

this would also open up the area to the west of the west side for further development without creating a miles and miles long walk from one side to the other.

i dont mind walking but most people walk from one side of DD to the other voluntarily, but we really dont like having to back track back to whichever end we parked at.

The walkway on the Hilton side will also likely have a stair and/or handicap access for the CM parking lot on that corner as well, otherwise I wonder if they wouldn't have gone diagonally across the middle of the intersection.

going diagonally would have given access to the hilton/holiday inn, but wouldn't have given access to the wyndham and buena vista palace on the west side of hotel plaza blvd

there isn't really cast parking at that intersection other than down by the casting center, but thats not dtd employee parking.

I know they had been using that small lot on the corner in front of Buena Vista Palace as DTD CM parking after the Disney Springs work started, and I'm pretty sure they've used it for a while before that (if it hasn't always been a CM lot), because I can remember seeing CMs crossing at that intersection for at least a few years now, if not longer.

anyone know whats going on here? by typhoon.

first thought was construction staging area, but it doesn't seem very logical that they would destroy full grown trees for a temporary need, and this area is too far west to be connected to the overpass project.
