Disney Springs construction begins

Oh I personally agree 100%. But I know there are hoards of people at every Apple store I've ever seen, and I've never seen a "Samsung Galaxy" store.

personally... I don't get it. I work in the IT world and like I said I use an iPhone... but I don't see why people pee their pants over anything Apple. I'm convinced they could sell a pile of cow manure with an apple logo on it for $100 to some people lol

agreed! What about GameStop in the Disney Springs.

I've never visited a Gamestop in the U.S. But here, they all look absolutely tacky. White flooring that always manages to look dirty, tons of used games in various states of disarray, terrible layout, poor value and staff that don't know their products. If that description sounds familiar, then they're a dreadful fit for Disney Springs.

I agree that they look horrible on the inside and most of the staff useless ... Not to mention when the NextGen Consoles hit the market ... I think they will begin to become obsolete. From what I hear around the community, games will be in a download form on the PS4 and XBox 720 ... Disc's will become a thing of the past I am afraid.

And don't even get me started on every different sellers pre order exclusive bonuses!

They don't need one. Their ads sell enough phones and their devices are selling like hot cakes because they're innovating at a high rate. The apple faith full will always be there, they just won't gain many more due to the fact that they don't try hard enough.

But how many people are actually buying things, and how many are just playing games waiting for the wife/girlfriend/daughter/whoever to finish going around the clothes shops?

Like I said, it will work like a free DisneyQuest.

FYE closed at Mall at Millenia a few months ago. That type of shop is dead now.

I hadn't realised that it closed - last time I was there was 2011.

Then I guess that Amazon will be getting my money when I have to order items to be delivered to the hotel.

A bit of a long shot and don’t really expect anyone will know as yet but we’ve booked our family vacation from the UK for August 2014. We’re staying at SSR as our children (7 and 4) love the restaurants at DTD and have requested a room at Congress park.

Will the construction of ‘The Springs’ have a negative effect on our vacation. It has cost a lot of money to fly from the UK and I don’t want to be looking at a construction site for 2 weeks with nowhere to eat?

It says that it will be done in phases so expect areas to remain open and there was nothing at Pleasure Island for the kids anyway! Also, believe it or not our children love Disney Quest, is this due to close too and if so when?

Sorry for so many questions – thanks in advance!

By August 2014 they will be into the thick of the construction so you are going to have to expect some disruptions to DTD. I am sure they will keep as much open as possible, and they won't close all the resturants. Rainforest Cafe is just finishing up a major renovation so I doubt it will close during construction.

I wasn't suggesting that f.y.e. replace Splitsville - it could be a smaller store like the others that they have (the one in Mall at Millenia isn't that large).

They can't not put in a store into Disney Springs "just in case" it goes bust - if they did that, then the only shops in Disney Springs would be Disney-owned, and that isn't going to happen. f.y.e. or GameStop would help cover a part of the market for Disney Springs that shops like Basin or LittleMissMatched can't cover, and could potentially stop some people going offsite.
Never mind! So how 'bout that construction? Have they broken ground yet?

And iPhones obviously are VERY sexy. I (50 year old looking across the top of his glasses) am typing on one sitting at McD's now.

or the iCrap lol

ha, maybe so. but you have to give apple's marketing dept all kinds of credit. they've done a fantastic job creating products/markets people didn't know they wanted or needed. Then the way they link all their products together makes it tough for customers to ever stop buying from them. On my desk at work at almost any given time I have an iMac, iPad and iPhone. It really is kind of pathetic haha.

ETA: Sorry, just saw Steve's post. Didn't mean to add to the off topic discussion.

Permit was filed for the demolition of the old Comedy Warehouse building the other day so we should see that work begin soon, if it hasn't already.

At least you saw Steve's post. Looks like some others either didn't see it, or don't care.

Yay! Let's have an argument about Apple products! Exactly what you never see on the Internet - so fresh, so new, so original - you guys really deserve a pat on the back!

Broken ground is kind of a fuzzy concept since step one is to gut a bunch of buildings. If you're asking if they've started PHYSICAL work, then yes.

I wish that we could get a construction cam like the one provided for I-Drive Live. That project is suddenly picking up steam. They must want it ready for 2014.
