Disney Springs construction begins

Boat House looks interesting. Amphicars even more interesting... but how do they keep those Amphicars out of the way of the current launch traffic? I wonder if those have the run of the lake or just a small area near the restaurant. At least 2 launches serve DTD alone now, and resort launches serving 3 resorts out at any given time. A lot of traffic for that little lake. But Capt. Jack's Marina was there already, so perhaps the high price point for rental kept traffic down. Can't wait to see how all this unfolds.
And yes as someone said, the AC and BET club next door the shell of both still standing (for now). What on earth can one put in those structures? A brand new "hard-ticketed", dinner theater style AC that actually makes a profit! (ok hopes and dreams are free...)

The boat rentals at Cap'n Jacks really weren't that expensive. The last time I rented there I had the run of the lake and up the river. So it's possible rental boats from Mahogany Bay Restaurant will have the same range.

It's called a reputation. Why it pays to have a good one.
I hear you and if it turns out to have the same menu as trex and rainforest it's a valid gripe, but they have to actually officially announce it and release a menu. Maybe it will be something different like this:
Came across this interview with Schussler from September, 2013 which briefly mentions the Boat House concept "including the Boat House, which harkens back to the classic wood boats of the 1950s, and includes an oyster bar and ice cream parlor;"

http://slpmag.com/steve-schussler-st-louis-park

Could be an earlier concept with the same name, as the concept art clearly shows the aquatic classic cars....
There is no oyster bar or ice cream parlor at trex.:)

I think Schussler's new Boat House concept is different than the existing The Boathouse that is owned by Landry's (who also owns Schussler developed Rainforest Cafe, T-Rex and Yak & Yeti).

I will give Schussler credit for Yak & Yeti. It's probably one of my favorite sit down restaurants on property.
For food or atmosphere? What I think is getting lost in a lot of this is that Schussler primarily creates concepts that he sells to others. Hot Dog Hall of Fame is more the odd man out in that it is also operated by Schussler. I too enjoy Yak & Yeti as well as Bubba Gump, and they're both operated by Landry's who also operates the more lackluster Rainforest Cafe and T-Rex.

I'm convinced that T-Rex was more a response to Rainforest's popularity and they figured it would be better to give it a slightly different theme instead of putting another Rainforest Cafe at the other end than a "this is a cool, new concept, let's make it happen" since the menu is almost the same with just a dish or two difference and of course the dinosaur names. Hopefully this Schussler development is actually different, and not a way to slap a new name/theme on the same menu to absorb the still ridiculous lines at T-Rex/Rainforest every night. I have some hope given earlier descriptions, but I'm not holding my breath.

I don't think Schussler has that much say over the menu, especially after the concept is handed over to the owner/operator.

To me the Boat house just screams seafood. It's just pure speculation on my part, but if the theme is nautical then it would make sense to focus on seafood dishes. I'm sure they would have other things as well.

One of my "favorite" is probably a bit overreaching, but I do enjoy it a lot in terms of food and atmosphere. It is a bit pricey, but the food is definitely up to par though.

They look like they are inside the bridge section between TRC and Lego.

They also own/run an aquarium restaurant--at one point rumored to go into the old Virgin store--might crib the menu from there.

that would be quite unfortunate with fulton's crab house literally next door.

My best guess it it is going to be more of a casual dining place with heavy theming.

Geez, they haven't even officially announced this place as a vendor and people are already ripping it for being lame and having a generic menu? Can't wait for the love fest when the rest of the vendors are eventually announced.
And this surprises you?

Exactly...have you been around here much lately? Disney could be passing out gold bars to every guest walking through the doors...and people would be starting threads on this board saying, "If Universal were doing this...they would be handing out platinum bars...modern Disney sucks...Disney of old would have delivered the gold bars to our room instead of making us carry them around!"

This site is almost getting hard to read...if it were not for the exciting rumors and updates on Disney Springs, Avatarland, refurbs and Seven Dwarfs...I wouldn't visit it anymore.
