Roof work as in removing giant metal letters?

Good question. The permit says Roofing, do I doubt it's for the actual removal of the letters, although the work area is for the section of the roof where the letters are. It expires on March 7th so it's something fairly small.

Looks like I missed a permit from earlier in the month and this is an interesting one:

1620 East Buena Vista Dr - New construction of 22,000 sf restaurant attraction including site , structure, and interior finished

I have this address listed as "Beach Club" in my address list which is near where Fuego/Sosa Cigars and Motion was. Contractor is Whiting-Turner, one Disney's big contractors. They did the Grand Floridian DVC and also did the new Rainforest volcano. The permit has no expiration date so they expect to have this complete in under a year.

Also, the property owner is listed as "The Boat House Orlando,LLC"

That is all but definitely the "motor boats and root beer floats" restaurant under a new (and let's be honest, much better) name. Same one that had the vintage car boats in the concept art.

wow... you really think the new GF villas "sticks out like a sore thumb" and doesn't look good?

ya know riding on the monorail I can see the castle in the distance sticking out like a sore thumb too....but...

Absolutely sticks out like a sore thumb. It is oversized compared to the other resort buildings and is missing some of the architectural touches of the original buildings. The view of the DVC building also is very "boxy" looking from the lagoon side (and the Poly), with large windowless areas.

Certainly not in line with the other buildings, and not appropriate for the architectural style and time period the resort is supposed to evoke. There was a thread or two about this a while back.

Much like the BLT, it was built with little concern for the relationship to its surroundings.

Now back on topic...hope the food is decent at the new Boat House restaurant! :D
