Disney Springs construction begins

WDW will have its spies checking out Diagon Alley then answer with... A MEET AND GREET, or and huge price increases :)
Just like to point out that Disney followed Universal last year on the price increases. (Yes Disney usually increases first and everyone follows, but not last year).

Most creative people enjoy each others' work. The competition between WDI and Uni Creative is quite healthy and amiable.

Only fanboys without a handle on reality make it a cutthroat contest. :D

So true.

Fanbois don't understand the entertainment/media businesses largely at all. That's why they think there has to be a winner and a loser like this is the NFL (and not the absurd sport they call football on this side ofthe pond.) They have no idea why UNI will hold onto Marvel IP in its parks anymore than why ABC Studios will produce a hit procedural for CBS.

I could rant onward about fanbois (you love em, you hate em, you don't know where to store their tears), but I can barely feel my face (winter in Berlin and no Olaf in sight) so that will have to wait for The Spirited Sixth Sense coming to a MAGICal realm (and pay per view) in February 2014.

But seriously, a D23 event on all the great attractions that have been destroyed and removed in July while Potter 2.0 debuts?!??!?!?!

(now, where did I put that sausage?)

And why would Disney even bother competing?

The revenue increases keep rolling in, so why bother?

There won't be a paradigm shift until Disney starts seeing revenue drops. There is no evidence that this will happen in the next 5 years. Pandora's 7-8 year plan will be plenty to fill the next 5 years.

I know,it's just funny that corporateDisney let it go in there. Hey anything g to promote Diagon Alley and get more tourists to the Orlando area right?

To be honest, so far its comparable to the Trafford Centre minus the glass roof. Not something I'd travel 4000 miles (or even 40) to see.
Certainly not saying that Disney Springs is going to be the first of its kind. However, it is going to be huge improvement over the current Downtown Disney, and in a different league to the outlet mall comparison that gets thrown around.

Comparing DS to a shopping mall is sort of like comparing Disney's put put golf courses to those found in malls or pizza places. The difference is the level of theming. Is DS going to cause people to come to WDW. Probably not. But if Disney were to do nothing with DTD we would still be hearing the complaints of staleness and longing for years past. Disney is almost damned if they do, damned if the do not.

Well Disney Springs is going ot be considerably more than your Premium Outlets.
We will see so far no tenants other than Starbucks and a parking structure for a years worth of construction Consider me underwhelmed.

If there is anything today's Disney has taught us it is to expect little and be underwhelmed by finished product. Mermaid being latest example

I'm curious what magical fluff is going to be a part of the structure for the garages that is taking them so long, and why they chose poured on site vs. prefab. I'm sorry, but the crawling speed on this garage while they continue to screw up the parking situation even more (about half of the lot behind Cirque is now behind construction walls!) is not sitting well with a lot of people, and unless an engineer or someone with structural knowledge of parking garages can give us an example of why they need to go poured on site (other than the floors, at this size, I get the floors being poured) for the support structure, my skepticism and negativity continues to grow. Meanwhile down I-4 a parking garage is going up at blazing speed and looks like it will be done in about 4 months total.
