permit was filed for work on the roof of the mannequins building. It does have a leak of some kind somewhere so...it's a good thing. Could also be for removal of the sign.

The first step will be clearing parts of Pleasure Island. Heavy work should be underway by summer.

I haven't been able to comment much lately on anything (busy and a teenager in sports), but regardless of how some may come down on the overall "plan", I'm glad something is going on. The place needs work, has for a while, so it should be an interesting build. Looking forward to the end product and (if it hasn't been mentioned yet) the list of new merchants.

Agreed. The sting of losing the entire area would have been lessened at least slightly if they had immediately moved into building something new.

And yeah, wow, five years... Ugh.

Funny how this can be announced and construction begins almost immediately and something like Avatar was announced years ago and it's... well... *queue crickets chirping*
