That was quick! Maybe they're really going to build this! I'm glad. This idea is so much better than a wharf. I hope it's pretty. :)

General question: the cast members that are being relocated from near PI: Are they DD management types? Have they just worked out of PI all these years?

There are offices under the West End Plaza, down at the lower level of Adventurers Club, BET Soundstage and Comedy Warehouse. There is/was also an employee cafeteria of sorts down there. So those people will need to be relocated. Someone once said there are offices in the back of Mannequins on the upper floors. Not sure if they're in use or abandoned. But if renovations are going to happen there, they'd have to move too.

It's nice to be (cautiously) optimistic about an actual project. No guessing if construction will start, or when, but real stuff happening. I like this. Let's keep it going Disney!

It certainly must help that RCID is footing the bill for at least the parking garages to get things moving quickly..
RCID "footing the bill" doesn't mean anything. Disney is (more or less) the sole taxpayer of RCID meaning anything RCID pays for, Disney pays for. The advantage of RCID is that they can float tax-free municipal bonds and purchase certain equipment tax-free. Any money raised in the bond issuance will be paid back to bond holders, with interest, with tax revenue collected from Disney. Make no mistake, Disney IS paying for this. The Sentinel article that suggests otherwise is flat-out dishonest.

Apart from the whole not having to pay sales tax on materials and all that jazz ... you seem to hate it when people talk critically of Disney/TDO/WDW quite strange...

Nothing wrong with RCID building infrastructure in their district. It's a creation of the Florida Legislature and it's doing what it was created to do. I would expect them to build the new I-4 exit ramp too, at least the part that is on RCID property.

I hate the term value engineered. The way we use it seems counterintuitive. When I think value engineering, I think engineering for value for the customer. Because what's valuable to the customer should be valuable to the company. Should of course.

Alright. I'm done.

It's actually a common term in the design/construction industry. My firm does it all the time.

An architect designs a monument to themselves, the client falls in love with it, then we tell them how much that building will cost to build. When they come out of their come, our role starts with finding ways to build almost the exact same thing, but for less money.

We "engineer" the product to a better "value".

I read about the RCID is paying for it, which in turn is Disney, albeit with tax breaks/ incentives by using RCID. Then my mind wanders a little farther down that money trail and I start to think that oh, well that means we are all paying for it! That's a big chunk of change.

We'd all still be paying for it through admission, hotel fees, concessions, retail, etc. just as we are right now.
