Disney Splurge

Anybody watching/watched? It was fun to see the "splurge" things, but all in all, the special wasn't that interesting to me.

I'm not real impressed with this Disney Splurge special. I didn't learn or see anything new and I'm a little disappointed Samantha Brown wasn't on it. Maybe I was mistaken but I thought she was hosting all 4 of the specials.

I still want to do the Petty Driving experience after watching it.

But agreed, it wasn't the greatest, but still was a nice Friday night distraction.

My dd and I were also disappointed to not see Samatha Brown in this one. The only thing that I thought was interesting is that you can hire a guide. But I think that would take allot of the fun out of your trip and who has $100 and hour to spend on the guide.

I was kind of let down too, but it was still nice to watch a show about Disney. As far as the guide goes, it's not for me. I just don't see a need for it. I enjoy doing the planning myself and we go at our own pace and already know exactly what we want to do.

I'm with you on that! $600 for a guide..you can save it and stay an extra day. I was hoping to see Samantha Brown too, she's rocks :sohappy:

The Law family did...but they seemed awfully pretentious.

I agree. If I heard them say one more time "All we had to do was enjoy our kids", I was going to :hurl:.

So, those of us who don't hire $100+/hr VIP guides DON'T enjoy our kids on vacation?

All in all, I was pretty disappointed by the whole show.

I agree, this new special was disappointing. It didn't show a lot of park activities/attractions, but when they did it was fun to see who could guess where they were first. Hopefully the one next week will be better. And for anyone who missed this one, or the first one with Samantha Brown, Travel Channel is having a mid-day marathon of Disney shows on Wednesday, April 23rd between 12:50pm and 8pm (eastern times) that will include some of the 'classics'.

I thought the show was okay but spent too much time in Costa Rica, although it looked kind of cool. My question is...how do you get a job as a special escort? She looked like she had it made. Riding the rides, eating at Jiko's with them, doing the safari. I can do that! Seriously though, I'd much rather be with my family experiencing Disney our own way.

I would have to agree that the show was extremely boring. I guess they could have added a few splurges that we the little people could afford such as Segway tours or behind the scenes tours. I don't know about you but if I do one of those thats a splurge to me. And I will give another :hurl: to the Law family and their tour guide. Give me a break.

My SPLURGE is eating cheese danishes EVERY morning:ROFLOL: Half the fun and experience is figuring out what works for your family, that's why it takes SO many trips :D

The whole thing was meh.. knew about most of it like Petty, Grand One (all from the old Hidden WDW show, which covered more splurges IMO like the Chef's Table, renting out the water park for private surfing, etc.) and the tour guide (interesting they drive, but I guess for the $ you don't take the buses). Have to agree they should have shown more park things like DiveQuest, other bts tours.

Here's another :hurl: to the whole special. I really wanted to see more of the things a middle class family could splurge on like the tours or some of the signature dining. I thought the whole tour guide thing was kinda dumb. Like when they said we need a tour guide to help keep up with fast passes and what not...wow...:lookaroun...The thing that got me is none of the families really went to the parks and enjoyed them. I know there are about a billion things to do other than rides, but I thought most people at least did some of the park stuff. There are ways to splurge in the parks.

By the way...did anyone notice the Laws walking into the Brown Derby during the picture montage after a commercial? How come they didn't show that experience?
