Well I rode this and five weeks ago...

and I still get flashbacks from it. It took me two hours to recover enough to finish epcot the day we went. I had to sit down with my head down and not move for 45 minutes right after the ride. Last week while making a sharp turn driving my car I got a flash back and started getting sick to my stomach. I am 48 and never had this happen before on any ride. THis ride is very intense and should be for younger people. I saw much older people then me on the ride and I still wonder what happend to them.

I did just fine, thank you. ;)

Seriously, any complaint of chest pain requires a trip to an ER.

I had no problems with the ride, although I have chronic PVCs (a heart arrythmia...BUT, I've ridden things like the Graviton before without problems) My husband, who is much more athletic than I, has no cardiac problems, and is more of a "daredevil" than I, felt awful for several hours after riding. He felt as if he were having an MI, but knew it was from the G forces. Needless to say, he'll never ride it again!

I would take the warnings very seriously on this one.

Oooo...Name the ride this line is from!!! "...including intense manuevers and G-forces. Those who are prone to motion sickness, or are made uncomfortabel by enclosed dark spaces, simulators, or spinning, should by-pass this experience." Even if they missed the 8 signs...HOW THE HECK CAN YOU MISS THE AUDIO LOOP?!?!?!? When you're in the holding pens right before the briefing rooms that audio warning (38 seconds long) loops every 1:48 seconds. (I heard it so many times that I even decided to time how often it played.) :p This is nothing but sensationalism and, if those people are STUPID enough to still ride the attraction then they deserve whatever they have coming to them. How many people over the age of 55 ride the Hulk? I don't know but I'm guessing it wasn't even 6 total for the year. This junk just drives me nuts. Oi!!!

I will add just this. I remember that they had an alternative "ride" or attraction within MS actual ride for those who chose not to actually do the capsule ride. If that alternative still exists; that is fine. It's Ok to choose an alternative form of entertainmen. They didn't have barf bags on the ride when I was there. Don't remember any video of the spinning capsule along the waiting queue.
However, although I don't remember any lasting effects, my daughter did report feeling nauseous post ride. She won't repeat it either. But this Old Coot doesn't regret trying it just the same.
We all plan to return to WDW 2005 just haven't decided on what month yet.

That wouldnt work in terms of throughput. To get the hourly rider capacity, they need all 4 ride bays at maximum efficiency. The last thing they need is people requesting paritcular ride bays, or having to have special queues depending on the experience you want. Imagine the consequences that would have for fastpass, there are enough lines for different things already! LOL

Also as mentioned before, for people with inner ear problems, or those likely to be affected by the ride, it really wouldnt matter how intense it was. The very fact that you are spinning is enough to effect them. Be them spinning at 32rpm or 15 rpm, its still going to affect them.

I understand the reluctance to have more lines. Who really needs that? But I have heard that capacity woes haven't been an issue with the ride. People keep saying they have been able to walk right on the ride while Test Track keeps its 45+ minute waits!

A lot of people on here are making it sound like people are not as smart as them if they actually get sick on this ride. This is wrong.

Next time I go I plan on riding this but I have NO IDEA how my body is going to react. Does this make me STUPID? NO.

Another thing is that alot of people are making it sound like these people came forward and complained that they were not warned enough when in fact it was the hosiptals that supplied these reports to the press.

How many people on this message board knows how many G's a body can sustain? Not many. Does anyone even know your personal threshold? I would venture to say NO unless you were in the Military.

My point is that people here make this sound very "cut and dry" but I dont think it is.

Let me know what you think.

First I'll say that I did not read all of the posts so please excuse both my laziness and any possible redundancy. Disney should not accept any responsibility for this "problem" This attraction has so many warning signs you would think only 10% survive till the end. People need to accept responsibility for their own decisions. To ride or not to ride, only you know your own health/fitness level. Furthermore, I am suspicious of a psycological factor caused by what I consider excessive warnings both outside and inside this ride, if you think you're going to get sick chances are that you will in fact get sick. Just my 2 cents.:)

I would just like to start off by saying that I have seen people get sick on this ride. BUT I would also like to say that I have seen people get sick off Space Mountain as well. Rides are rides and really there isn't anything that can be done to insure that people won't get sick.

In terms of how trying to make each pod different, that is asking for a disaster coming from my space mountain background where people swear there is a difference in the 2 sides we have. Change that to 4 or even just 2 and then times that by having to wait for the pre-show to end and we talking nightmares for cast members and guest alike. Only way I can see that being done is if they redesign the queue for the whole ride

I also want to point out that the amount of signs out front has become more, also the colors of some have changed from white to yellow, giving more of a hazardous color for guest to see. I am sure this has happened save hundreds of people who might have otherwise gotten on and gotten sick.

Let’s also keep in mind that is not just old people who get sick on this ride...so really moving to discrimination would be so wrong.

But there always will be the few that just don't get it and truly it is because they just don't know. However, once again coming from my space background, if a guest ask me if I think they can handle the ride, I will tell them no. If you so much as think that you might get sick, it truly is not worth ruining your vacation over

I agree, although I will add that people with known motion sickness or angina should not ride, along with the usual pregnant women, people with back problems, etc. Also, people with claustrophobia should pass.

I'm not sure what the age cutoff, if they institute one, should be. I tolerated the ride without problems, as did my son. My daughter and husband will never ride again.

The warnings already tell you that it's intense, and that anyone with medical problems should not ride. I don't know that anything else could, or should, be done.

I agree that there is no way of knowing in advance if a healthy person in good shape and with no known problems will have an untoward experience. Most of us have no been exposed to this particular experience before.

Instating an age cut-off runs the risk of being too paternalistic. Individuals have to have the right to make their own decisions, no matter how ill-equiped they may be for making good decisions.

Concerning the claustrophobia.. how small is the pod? Are we talking smaller than the virtual coaster pods at disney quest?

Individuals should be able to make decisions, no matter how ill-equipped they may be to make those decisions? You can't be serious. I know I wouldn't want my child in the care of someone "your words" "ill-equipped" to make thosne decisions.

Part of the problem here is our hyper-sensitive society in which we now live. There should be age, height, health restrictions on rides. That shows that the management/staff of any business not only cares about the safety of their guests, but offers risk information concerning specific rides/conditions. People have got to get over this being offended thing in our country. Get over yourselves people. If you don't like being informed about the risks of certain activities, then don't do them. Or don't patronize the establishments that offer these warnings.

Funny I've never heard anyone argue that cigarette companies shouldn't put warnings on their cartons, because if offends them.
