I will say that being on these boards the last week or so has made me realize what an uncultured swine I am. I have yet to see soap dispensers in any hotel I've stayed at. I've yet to stay at hotel that charged me a parking fee. And that $65 for fast food nachos, nuggets and 7in pizza and a couple drinks is normal. But that's what seems to be the norm I guess.
The soap dispensers are around. Two of the largest hotel chain owners are starting to make the switch. Based on the article below they have started with chains mostly used by business travelers since they are more experienced. I would say Disney is not leading the pack here, but one of the group of first movers.

Parking fees are more common is big cities where parking is less available. However, Universal’s Loews hotels charge for parking so I guess the mouse is chasing the boy wizard in this case.

Food prices at Disney are not defensible. It is what it is and at least you can find some better meals especially at Disney Springs now.

So Disney decided its a good idea to use reusable liquid soap dispensers for guests. This is disgusting and i cannot fathom why they think its a good idea. They are not going to clean the inside of the bottles between guests im sure so unless they can guaranteee nothing is added in the bottles between uses there will be a lawsuit. Think of all the things people can do, add something to make your hair fall out, battery acid or worse. I do not get it at all. If they do clean out all product between uses then we are wasting soap resources.

Are you serious?

Because Disney used to be different, a cut above the rest. It used to set itself apart from hotel chains and other run-of-the-mill establishments. It's abandoned that in the name of the almighty dollar/profit margins/quarterly profits.

The only "green" motivation behind anything Disney does that they purport to be "environmentally-friendly" is the green of US dollars.

...because little baby shampoo bottles are high end?

Perhaps you could use your acid to melt away the lock before messing with the shampoo ;)

Ha! Thanks, this thread needed that.

They already do use reusable liquid soap dispenser in all bathrooms in the park and public areas.

Many, many hotels and gyms already use dispensers. From a google search I can find one blog with an objection but not really any reports of "bad" substances being put into the bottles.

The in-room bottles are locked in place as in the below picture, so the chance of a guest tampering is very very low anyway.

I just thought I would post these old pages if anyone was interested.

This bag had a date of 1978 View attachment 305681
This bag from DLR had to be from our trip in 1985View attachment 305682
This bag has papers from 2000

We all know we're true Disney fans, when we even get excited to see past and present bags?! ;) The design on the top one looked vaguely familiar, but I'm not sure where I saw it before. (First trip to WDW was back in 1985.)

So Travelodge amenities = Four Seasons/Waldorf Astoria/Bvlgari/W Hotel (Aka. True 4-star hotel) amenities. o_O

Just realized we are waaaaaaaaaaaaaay off-topic. I'm done now.
Small bottles of soaps and shampoos are in most major hotel chains. Expensive ones or cheap ones. The difference in quality of product will indeed be better at the top hotels. Point being your belief that small packaging makes it high end is untrue.

Went and visited Animal Kingdom Lodge today and ate at the Mara. We were also there last Friday to eat. Since then, they have implemented some of the no plastic policies. The main example I have is that they no longer offer plastic lids for fountain beverages. They have always used paper straws over there but it was a shock to see no lids for the cups at all. They continue to offer lids for coffee and hot drinks but not for sodas or water.

As a result of this change, we saw many spills while we were eating, including one that had collateral damage for some of our stuff. People fill the cups to near the top and then give them to children who inevitably spill. When I asked a cast member if they could get some plastic lids for the cups as they seemed to be out, he told me that they don't offer them and have never offered them because they are dangerous for the animals. When I said to him that they had the plastic lids last week, he told me that I was wrong and then walked away.

I don't like that they got rid of the lids and I know that the cast members have no control over whether they have them or not. But instead of saying that they had decided to no longer offer them, he lied to my face and then doubled down when called on it. Lids aren't going to prevent all of the biggest spills and accidents do happen. But Disney might as well stop selling fountain drinks outside of the refillable plastic mugs if they aren't going to offer the lids. There were just seemingly too many people spilling overfilled cups everywhere.

Animal Kingdom has never offered plastic lids in the park, would they have ever offered them in the resort?
