News Disney plans to accelerate Parks investment to $60 billion over 10 years

Don't forget that in 2017-2018, Hollywood Studios only had 4 rides open as they were building Star Wars, Toy Story and MMRR. I'm expecting Dinosaur to close by the end of the year (enough time for this new permit to be granted and built) with it opening before 2028 for the 30th anniversary if AK

Disney converted Splash into Tiana in less than 1.5 years, more than doable to fill that time with more than enough entertainment/festivals to entertain APs. My hope is that whatever additional attractions they have planned, come online quickly after that in succession.
1.5 years to redo an exciting attraction way to go Disney
"Construction of the first theme park – Magic Kingdom – began in May 1969 and took around 18 months to complete."

I know this won't happen but I think they should suspend Genie+ at DAK during the works.

One less ride to use it on and the park doesn't really need it as it is. Worst case scenario keep FOP and add in one more attraction as a LL one shot.

Not sure they give much concern about APs anymore?

They haven’t cared about anniversaries for years really…even the compound anniversary was so bad it felt like they couldn’t be bothered?

People still are thinking about 1996 and 2000…but that sheriff left town long ago

Not defending WDW, just mentioning that it's more than doable to give DAK a "new" attraction sooner than 2028 (which is a reasonable time frame for their typical construction timelines).

Well, if your 4th park is struggling to incentivize guests to visit in favor of the other 3 WDW parks while giving an additional day to Universal next year... I'm sure they will fall in love again with APs lol

Yeah…but they want rid of them

They doubled the price in 5 years…I think that was a hint

Keep in mind this is a lot more to do. I don't think you are opening a partial land. And even if they are, they still need the retheming all the way to the ride done as well (not just the ride). I mean, theoretically that's completely doable, but Disney needs to buck the trends of their builds for it (and they may feel the pressure to do so, who knows).

Well they doubled the price of day tickets also, didn't they? The real difference is that now AP's don't get FP+ for free. They have to pay for G+ if they want line skips. I don't think they actually want to get rid of APs at WDW.

Obviously, but Disney's isn't a stranger to running an operating theme park with heavy construction going on (DCA redo).

APs never got “free” anything more than anyone else…
They decided then want to mess with their attendance by trying to “retrain” the customers…it worked for a while

Sure, but unless they speed up, you aren't talking 1.5 years, you are talking 3-5 years. And I'm just not convinced they care enough to add a bunch of other things to make up for even less to do. As someone said before we saw the permits, there's a chance they are assuming DAK is going to be cut from most people's budgets for the next few years due to Epic. It could be they are accepting that and are just going to build so that when the novelty of Epic wears off a bit, DAK can swoop in.

What’s interesting about this filing is if it’s major construction…it would indicate it’s over behind Asia/africa…not dinoland

Which means rafikis is on the block
Of course that's the other thing, it could be they aren't taking out Dinosaur, they may build that way first (which won't be as noticeable) and then move on to Dinosaur once they have those things up.

Logic would have the South America land built first and have Encanto open while closing Dinosaur but I imagine they will want the whole area completed at the same time

Yes, but as the most experienced users of fastpass who paid far less to get them each time they tap in, those guests were decidedly less "desirable". Now on weekends or holidays they are far more likely to pay for upsells than before. And on lower crowd days the company just wants bodies in the park to sell Mickey Bars and pretzels.
