"Notice how we still use the old name - Midway Mania? Even though it was announced out in Florida by the passionless Rasulo as Toy Story Mania, that's only the name they are going to use for the MGM Studios version. Or we should say Disney-Pixar Studios Theme Park. Yes, the Florida team will be moving forward on a rebranding of that park in Florida, including that new name, beginning in 2008. Hmmm, I wonder if they will also send some animators back to that empty animation building?"

Anyone know if this is legit or not?

Let the Anti-Disney Pixarification Purists start their ranting :D

No.

Disney isn't going to turn MGM into a Pixar park in any sense. It may be getting a Pixar attraction, but that won't mean that the park will be completely rebranded.

JMHO, with Lasseter at the helm at Pixar/WDI, the purists AND the Pixar fans can breathe easier. Seems like a positive integration of ideas from both schools of thought is more likely to take place, from both a business and quality sense. Again, JMHO.

Oh god, if they did this I'd just give up being a Disney fan.

Why?

Disney-MGM Studios is a theme park based on movies from two movie studios. If it were to become Disney-Pixar Studios...it would be from two movie studios even though Disney owns both.

Yes, I think they need the "MGM" name or another big movie studio that has classic films...but the park is already in shambles so why not do an overhaul?

Just my $.02 I just have a really bad taste in my mouth about the Studios... I find myself not even really looking forward to going there...and if it weren't for the Tower and Fantasmic...I probably wouldn't.

I don't think it's the right move...but if it's going to happen to one of them...I'd prefer it to be the Studios.

I don't see what the problem is. They've had Pixar integrated into the park more so than MGM for years....even during the (dare I say) Eisner days. The characters fit well within the Disney scope, the stories had a higher quality than much of the recent Disney animations (assume there were a few actually produced by Disney), etc. This does not mean the "Studios" is losing any movie edge, they're simply clearing out the MGM reference. No big deal. They can maintain they're relationship with Lucas & Spielberg.

After all, ABC has been included in the mix for years so they might as well make a more rounded theme encompassing all of the Disney assets then the obscurity of a relationship with MGM that really never panned out.

From a branding and business stand point, this is a positive thing. If you really love Disney, why would you not want the swapping of MGM (an outsider with zero contribution factor) with Pixar (a household name that kids and adults both enjoy)? Though I enjoyed the early Disney-MGM Studios theme, the MGM portion was minimal and was really there to help gain shares over Universal.

Because it's Imagineer Boy and to him everything as of late seems to be doom and gloom.

Hehe, I wasn't getting at that... He just didn't give any reasons why he would stop going to the park and I was wondering what, about the current park, he'd miss if things were changed to a Disney-Pixar based Studios vs. a Disney-MGM Studios.

VERY likely to happen in the next 12-18 months.

Why not just call it...Disney Studios?

If this is true...

What will happen to:

Indy
Star Tours
ToT
RnR
etc.

(Rides/attractions that aren't exactly "Disney")

Will they remain, move, be rethemed?

My guess is remain...hopefully (the franchise representations that is...the attractions themselves I could do without). :lookaroun:lol:

A sign of the times - I`d be surprised if it DIDN`T finally happen. Pixar is part of Disney. Pixar is far more famous than say Touchstone or Mirimax (created by Disney as operational divisions) and Pixar represents fun, family friendly, possibly child orientated films. Just the draw the park needs without heavy infrastructure investment.

If only it`d happened 18 months ago (gasp) maybe The Laugh Floor shambles would be in a long-vacant part of the studios. Not in Tomorrowland :D

With all the new attractions coming into the parks, they should add the tag "Pixar" to every park's name! Laugh Floor -> Magic Pixar Kingdom // Turtle Talk -> Pixar's Epcot // Nemo Musical -> Pixar's Animal Kingdom

Honestly I think it would be a good move. The Studios really don't have an identity, and this could help. I mean MGM isn't very prominent in the parks to begin with. Indy and Star Wars are LucasFilms, Aerosmith is from a recording label, the Muppets are Disney, I'm not sure if ToT is, and LMA isn't affiliated with anyone. SO besides the GMR is there anything that's MGM?
