Disney-Pixar Studios Theme Park?

Yes it is, and Disney has an agreement with them to use The Twilight Zone. ToT is safe.
Oh indeed. Everything that is in place is `safe`. Some of the GMRs more MGM orientated items may eventually have issues, but perhaps on an individual scene basis.

Why call it the Disney Pixar studios? Pixar doesn't have any studios at the park. So why call it that only because there's one Pixar themed ride there? It makes no sense. I'd rather have it be called "The Disney Studios."

Why call it "Studios"? There are no studios in use. It's mind-boggeling.

Because it is still studio themed. Hence, the studio buildings with studio numbers on them, plus the whole idea of a "backlot" plays more into the studios aspect of the park.

I know that, but it is in fact, not a working studio. It also does not give the illusion of being a former or woking studio.

It is quite misleading to the average Joe.

And adding Pixar to the name will make it less misleading?

They're still studios none the less. Unless Pixar opens up some kind of a new animation department at the park, then it would be more acceptable. But since Pixar has only one ride in the whole park, then it doesn't really make sense.

But don't you think the average Joe knows it's a theme park?? The theme, of course, being that of Hollywood/studio lots? The working studio thing, though cool, is not an essential part of the parks naming or theming, IMHO.

Actually, the average guest doesn't look into the studios enough (since they can't) to determine whether or not they are functioning or not. It doesn't give the illusion because it doesn't need to, because it isn't look upon with such detail.

I"m sure that if Disney changed it to Disney-Pixar Studios...eventually Pixar would be represented more. Not just the one ride.

I can tell you that the Disney-Pixar name is coming, heard it from a trustworthy source a while ago.

That same source also said that I should get my last rides on GMR while I can.

Yea, I'm pretty sure they know it's a theme park. But they advertise it in a misleading way. I think the name should be changed completly. No mention of any studio, unless of course they reopen the studios. I don't know what to change it to, but it has needed a change for a while now.

If this is true...
What will happen to:
Indy
Star Tours
ToT
RnR
etc.
(Rides/attractions that aren't exactly "Disney")
Nothing. They aren't MGM either.

True. Or the GMR could be drastically redone.

Will they remain, move, be rethemed?

None of them would be affected. The only ride at the park that would need to be changed would be The Great Movie Ride. That is the ONLY ride in the park currently that has any influence from the MGM company. Since MGM is no longer either a powerhouse in the world of film making, or even its own company anymore, it would be best to drop it once and for all. The theme park as a whole would not see any impact by losing that. Star Tours and Indy are George Lucas. TOT is CBS. Aerosmith is used based on a deal with either the band or the record label that represents them.

Its been ongoing for years, but I have no doubt that the "MGM" title will be dropped. Disney and the film companies it owns now have a film library that embarrasses that which MGM has, even though they still have the "classics". Why they feel the need to call it Disney-___(fill in the blank) __ Studios and not just Walt Disney Studios is beyond me. A Disney-Pixar Studios inside the park would make a nice mini animated-themed land though.

I'm sure everything will stay the same as far as themeing. They might add a Pixar-themed land, or you may see some pixar animation studio attractions, but I can't see them taking away the 1940's Golden Hollywood era on Hollywood or Sunset - but they definitely need to redo the backlot and George Lucas' side... whether they update Lucas' attractions or retheme the area... I would be that we see a mock Pixar studio near Toy Story Mania and eventually, a Pixar themed land.

I would love to see this. Keep some things and redo a lot of the rest! Take out Footlight Parade and put something that moves in there. Take out Alien and put in two or three new movie sets, from something somewhat current and popular (and no, I don't mean AA's of High School Musical... haha).

Besides Singin' In The Rain, Wizard of Oz, maybe Tarzan and some bits from MGM films in the finale, not much of GMR is MGM:

Footlight Parade - Warner Brothers
Mary Popins - Disney
Public Enemy (James Cagney) - WB
The Searchers (John Wayne) - WB
Alien - 20th Century Fox
Raiders of The Lost Ark - Paramount/Lucasfilm
random mummy scene (horror)
Casablanca - WB
Fantasia - Disney

Wizard of Oz is now property of WB (or they just have the contract to distribute it on DVD)

Even if the MGM is dropped from the park's title, not much would change...

Alien stays!!! Take out Tarzan, Fantasia (last minute replacement), and a more recent musical in place of Footlight Parade. You know what I would love to see in GMR? Some little nod to the superhero movies (superman, batman at least).
