That number is just as believable as that 500,000,000 straws statistic that kid pulled out of his butt.

No and it's not a high school either.Do you work in a prison??
They'd have to get it through bag check and a metal detector, so hopefully none.

Having trained law enforcement officers carrying doesn't bother me- but if they're able to get it through the metal detector and bag check, then just about anyone can.
It wouldn't be hard to hide it in the bag check (since the bags don't go through the detector). Obviously, I don't condone the average guest sneaking stuff into the park- but the point remains, the bag check and metal detectors are more superficial then they are effective, and provide a false sense of security.
The San Francisco plastic straw "ban" is actually an ordinance against businesses providing single-use plastic straws. So it's only business who will be fined between $100 and $500 depending on the number of serial violations. No jail time and way less than $50k. Where did you get your information?I believe they are in San Francisco. Jail time up to three years and $50k fine.

Ah, ok. Fooled me! There are people on the internet and media pundits complaining about jail time, $1000 fines, and civil liberties. Not to mention the legitimate worries from the bubble tea industry.
I think they are idiotic and stupid. We need enforced international laws with teeth not pointless city bans in order to feel good.Ah, ok. Fooled me! So you're actually one of the minority in favor of these municipal bans?

Yeah, there is that little problem. Hopefully that Mars colonization hurries up before we all drown in plastic straws and diapers.International? We just told the ICC to go pound sand.
Just while we're on the topic of bringing things into the parks, guns and knives should be allowed and you can't change my mind on this.
Basically Tony the Tigger, earth activist / plastic annihilator and
Why do people bother guessing when they have no clue? “Earth activist.” LOL. I don’t give a rip about this either way - straws, no straws, paper straws - but if someone is hysterical over it, that annoys me more than a spilled drink.
They are death if you have a gluten allergy.

I never thought about that! I can't tell you the number of times I've almost killed my office neighbor by offering her corny food (she has a corn allergy). She often reassures me by saying that she won't actually die, but may just feel a bit yucky. They are death if you have a gluten allergy.
I think that's off topic. Besides, outside of preschool, who would use a uncooked noodle to drink a soda?I never thought about that! I wonder how much gluten actually gets shed from the pasta straws. Also, do you know what the spectrum is in gluten allergies? What percentage of people will actually go into anaphylaxis?
