News Disney Not Renewing Great Movie Ride Sponsorship Deal with TCM ; Attraction to Close

Well, this helps explain why George K was so adamant that the Guardians Tower project simply couldn't happen operationally because that park has no attractions (no, I don't care what individuals may feel for the mess that is there now).

Also, it does explain the very short window for the TCM sponsorship deal, which I always chalked up to companies not wanting long-term ties to DIS.

I will say that I have heard the plans now, but have been asked to keep them quiet, which I will do until/unless someone drops them into my lap (you know how to reach me).

It would seem the Theater will definitely stay. And while I actually like the sounds of the attraction, and the IP being used, there is absolutely no GOOD reason why GMR couldn't stay and this be added. This addition by subtraction is pure bull$hit of the highest order.

And understand that even assuming this happens and all the Star Wars Experience and Toy Story Land stuff opens as planned, the park will still have less attractions and have a smaller physical footprint than it did 20 years ago.

Chew on that and go on crowing about how great Bob Iger and Company are ...
When i started to hear about what was coming to DHS, I thought it was a great move by DIS. Now im wishing they left it the way it was. (Minus the hat)

All these "Expansions" are not using the space efficiently. We lost LMA, BLT, Pirates and a lot of prime real estate for 4 new attractions. Which could have easily had another 2 attractions. SWL would have gone well over by ST. They are so short sighted. You have smaller company's making bigger moves. /endrant

What Disney IP would of Tower or Terror be based on? We all want a park that has a cohesive theme. It must be rethemed to Disney IP. I love the ride the way it is but we can't have it both ways.
I know this will be considered sacrilege, but it wouldn't be that hard. Take away the fact they entered The Twilight Zone, and it's just a spooky story about a hotel struck by lightning and a few guests who disappeared in an elevator. Effects on the ride to the drop zone could easily change.

I mean that's cool and awesome and I can see what that idea would fit. Go back the the premiere of Mickey Mouse but there was plenty of places in that park to do this. They could have built it behind the animation building and used the building for queue and store space.

As great as this sounds, I'm still bitter as hell about them practically tearing the heart out what is a lifeless park.

They are tearing the heart out and putting a new one in. Lots to be upset about but this brings a slight glimmer of hope that a new theme for the park could make it a cohesive park again. It still needs a lot of work and it just seems like they are going to stop after StarWars. It needs a few more billion to complete this park.

Wouldn't surprise me from this company.

How many rides does DLR need?!?! I thought they built WDW because they didn't have room for this kind of expansion out West. And yet, WDW ends up getting new rides that almost always replace old.

Regarding the bolded...nothing aggravates me more at WDW than this. Attendance keeps growing, but the net number of attractions never seems to grow.

Now that Bob Weis is in charge of WDI, they could always do the Mickey's Movieland concept from the late 80's/early 90's and have this ride be the anchor E-Ticket, but who are we kidding.

Rather than a land, you may have just stumbled across DHS' new name?

I think this ride would work as a centrepiece which may explain its location. But please Disney....just build more at this desperate park.

I crack up at the poeple who have no "attachment" to any particular attractions because they have only been visitng for a few years or just dont care and are in favor of anythign new. Do they not realize that its been quite awhile since Disney built (or even refurbed) an attraction that can acutally create said "attachment", (at WDW) that they are lacking? Maybe they dont want the attachment because they wont be lifelong guests as other people are. Maybe they dont care, maybe they dont understand. Pepperdige Farms remembers!
