Yes, it's true.

But it should not be at the expense of what it's replacing. GMR should be sympathetically updated. Mickey should be a new build as an added attraction with added capacity.

Only the foolish would think otherwise.
Just a reminder from our friendly neighborhood SPIRIT about how truly awful the capacity situation at DHS is now.
As a friend in a position to know picks up our tale, "George K. successfully pleaded to Chapek that DHS and WDW overall couldn't spare to lose a headliner E Ticket long-term before Avatar and Toy Story Land opens. As a point of reference, DCA has 22 different rides that have a combined capacity of 18,100 riders per hour, plus five theater attractions and a few walk-thru exhibits that have a combined capacity of 4,100 visitors per hour, and the four daily Frozen shows in the 2,000 seat Hyperion Theater that packs in 8,000 per day. DCA also has a daily parade and one or two World of Colors per night. DHS has only 5 rides, and even after the expansion of Midway Mania with a third track, those five rides now have a combined capacity of 8,400 riders per hour, plus a half dozen theater attractions and some walk-thrus that can get 3,600 visitors per hour when the staggered show times are smoothed out over a 12 hour operating day, no parade, and Fantasmic!.

That gives DCA a combined ride/theater capacity of 22,900 people per hour, plus a daily parade and World of Color. While DHS has a combined ride/theater capacity of 12,000 people per hour, no parade, but Fantasmic!.
Let's be generous and suggest the SWE and TSL expansions increase the park's capacity by 4000-6000 guests an hour, bringing DHS's total hourly ride-only capacity to 12,000-14,000 guests an hour. Even then, DHS, or whatever they end up calling it, will need more attractions to increase the parks capacity. Even a fool like Chappie should be able to see the long term sense in building The Great Mickey Ride on one of the park's expansion pads.

I don't understand how Jungle Book has never gotten the proper love it has deserved in the parks its very sad. I feel like the chance of any older IP getting added is very slim, why would they add an IP that was first introduced 30-40 years ago. With that being said does anyone know the last time an attraction was themed to an IP 10 or so years after the movie was made?
Well the new Jungle Book made close to $1 Billion, same as Zootopia, so one would think the powers that be would take notice of that. It wouldn't need its own land anyway like what's apparently being looked at for Zootopia. Just an addition to Asia.

To the bolded a ride like that just opened this summer. If we're talking Disney I guess the answers would be LM and SDMT.

Amen.

I think you mentioned previously that the animation building would be the ideal location for such a attraction and I really have to agree with that. Make it an omni mover and they could use the existing building with some modifications. That said it will never happen so I'll go back to being disappointed now.

Coming to Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea but nowhere in Walt Disney World because screw you guys and your Epcot that's why.
Actually it's because MK has much more visitation. Disneyland and Tokyo Disney Sea need some new attractions to make them more competitive.

Your comment reminds of Tokyo Disneyland getting a Beauty and the Beast area. Tokyo's Beauty and the Beast area is going to be much better than WDW's.

WDW's Beauty and the Beast area has shops, 2 eating places and a meet and Greet. Tokyo's is getting a shop, a eating place, and a trackless Beauty and the Beast ride. I think most people rather want a trackless Beauty and the Beast ride instead of a meet and Greet.
