Disney No Longer Including Appetizers for Deluxe Dining Plan

As others have said, take things away and charge more for it.
Price-setting is a two way street. People like to ignore that fundamental principle of free enterprise. Disney can ask $100 for a lollipop but they're not going to sell any that way. The fact that the dining plan used to offer more, now offers less, and people are still paying for it tells me that it was actually underpriced to begin with.

To be clear, I hate the dining plan unless I'm traveling with a cast member friend at a substantial discount. But my (or your) willingness to pay isn't what sets the market.

Disney can serve poop, make you book your poop eating reservation 180 days in advance, serve it cold on a platter full of innards, and flies, and maggots, and there are people here who would say it was their best meal on Disney property EVER... was just so MAGICal. And would chastise those who complain about being served poop by saying Disney is a business, be happy they even gave you poop!!!!
Hyperbole isn't a great way to give yourself credibility. The correct "Disney is a business" response to high-demand, overpriced poop is "it's your own damn fault for paying, dummy."

Or they artificially inflate the price of a meal when paying OOP to make you think the DDP is a bargain. Underpriced??? You are funny.

Again, if those menu prices were artificially inflated, NO ONE WOULD PAY THEM. People do. Of their own free will. A relatively small percentage of guests are on the DDP, meaning most folks are accepting the cash prices. Again, if I offer to sell you my left sock for $800 and not only do you agree, but there's a line of people behind you offering $850, which one of us is the idiot?

Do the words "captive audience" mean anything to you?

Disney allows outside food so the park audience is not captive from an F&B perspective. Counter service is much cheaper than table service, so there are cheaper substitute goods available. Loads of guests stay off property, so resort dining certainly isn't captive. And when you buy the DDP and make your reservations SIX MONTHS IN ADVANCE, you're sitting at home in your underwear. The only degree to which the audience is captive is the degree to which they make themselves so.

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
Another thing is that on the regular dining plan, I thought that you used to get 2 snacks a day, now it seems that there is only one. As others have said, take things away and charge more for it.
Nope regular for many years now has only had 1 snack credit per day. :)

Just because you say "we don't let the plan dictate us", it does not change the fact that it very much does dictate you. Not that it's a bad thing either. But if telling yourself that makes it easier for you, no problemo.
True but we would eat the same items and at the same places whether we are on the plan or not so that is why I said that. We have even dined somewhere not included while on the plan or paid for extra TS meals out of pocket when on the regular plan, or enjoy snacks that are not included. Some do not just because they are on the plan and eat differently than they would if paying cash, but for us we do not do that. We kind of ignore in a sense we have the plan and enjoy dining at and eating the items we enjoy the most. We still manage to use all our credits this way etc. Its not as tied down so say as some think. But if people don't like it they don't like it. They don't have to get it then. :)

Some of us are not dessert fans ... but we do like appetizers
We do too and just pay extra for
Them if on the regular plan. We don't always do desert at home when we dine out but we love getting the delicious deserts and appetizers while on vacation. We have to watch what we eat most of the year and healthier so the splurging on delicious food is great while at WDW or any trip we take. :)

If you are trapped in the WDW 'bubble' without a car and are not in a Villa with a full kitchen precisely what are your options for food then pray tell ???

That was the whole point of the Deluxe Dining Plan is that it WAS all inclusive with the exception of 'special drinks' and Adult Beverages , Got it a few times and did breakfast and signatures. Then the price rocketed up and we just got a car instead and now eat off property, Which is sad because dining used to be so much of the experience at WDW but I'm not paying 30-40 bucks for a steak which is 15 at the local Outback.

It did but went up not even barely $2 bucks a person for Deluxe. Was $109 and change now is $111ish. Like others noted this could change on the brochure when everything is finalized by/in January. :)

For that kind of cut a price increase is insulting as appetizers usually are 6-12 bucks, This is a money grab like so many other things at WDW these days.
