And it needs to be emphasized over and over that Delta isn’t like the original variant or Alpha. It goes after kids, and it goes after them hard. They’re spectacularly vulnerable. We can’t make the (always feeble( excuse that this is just a disease for older people or those with co-morbidities anymore. Delta looked for openings and vulnerabilities and picked our lock.

And God help us if we don’t stop it and it mutates into something even worse. Lambda has been out there for a year, and for some reason doesn’t have the mechanism to really propagate, so it’s classified as a minor variant of interest. But it looks like it’s got the ability to evade the current iteration of the vaccines. If we got a mutation with the rampant transmissibility of Delta with the vaccine evasion of Lambda, we would be in very deep trouble indeed.
This is absolutely untrue.

So I can open myself to more criticism I would like to talk more about my canceled trip.

When I say Disney does not support the vaccinated, this doesn’t apply only to mask rules.

If Disney announces tomorrow they are requiring vaccination for all employees, I will gladly pick up the phone ( sorry don’t like the website ) and drop a motherload of cash (won’t be able to use my points ) on a trip.

I will post my receipts since everyone here accuses me of lying.

I will show up and GLADLY wear my mask.

I will spend money on food Souvenirs etc.

If Disney is willing to move the needle in the right direction for our country I will proudly support them.

So far all they have done, is what they need to do to continue to make money.

I respect that.

But if they want my money they will have to do more.
If it was all about money they wouldn’t have changed their mask requirements last night which has had some people already cancelling or questioning their upcoming trips

I’m just sliding back in to say that I’ve made a decision to be positive about this. I remember being honestly thrilled when they removed just the outdoor mask requirement. I’m going to pretend it just never changed and hope it doesn’t get worse. Also, my comfort while on a completely optional vacation is not the most important thing in the world. I arrive September 30. I at least hope this isn’t any more restrictive by then. If it is, I’ll deal. Happy thoughts. Positive thinking.

BTW, one of the reasons I get irked when non-experts start calling for data is that waiting for data is a big reason we’re in this mess. I read Michael Lewis’ brilliant book The Premonition earlier this year, which is pretty much an indictment of the CDC, not just for 2020, but their policies since the 70s. And one thing rang out over and over from the legions of experts interviewed in it - when it comes to a communicable disease outbreak, it’s better to be fast and wrong. The one thing that matters most with an outbreak is speed. People don’t understand what exponential growth in a virus is; they don’t have the mechanism for visualizing it. By the time you know what’s going on, it’s already too late. You lost the battle.

Please see the actual news story from Bloomberg from *today* that I posted above.
I did ,that article says it tore through younger people, not necessarily children. that could be 40 and younger and is when you look at the data from Utah it is

Sure kids get sick or test positive, quite different from goes after them "hard" and really no different than previous variant. Also Utah median age is 31.2, lowest of all the states. interesting the picked that state

I could go on and on showing have the data is skewed in that article. all the kids profiled had a mild case of covid it appears.

It is much more contagious for everyone. Kids are still getting and transmitting COVID at lower rates than other age groups. And when they do, the cases are typically mild. The risk isn't zero obviously, but it is still very low even with the delta variant. Like understating risk, we also should not overstate the risk.
You're not looking at this right. It doesn't matter how bad kids or anyone else gets it. They want to get rid of it completely. If you get rid of it than there's nobody left to infect and no deaths or long term side effects to have, regardless of if some get it worse than others. The longer it sticks around the more variants and mutations develop the more people are at risk.

So you won't go wearing a mask because CMs aren't required to get vaccinated, but if Disney required their CMs to get vaccinated, you would wear your mask.

You're entitled to do what you want, but your logic makes no sense to me.

“Pavia said he’s seen a marked increase in hospitalized children.”

Why should I support a company that is not moving us towards the end goal of getting everyone vaccinated.

They can do this is multiple ways but so far have chosen none.

If other major companies like Google and Netflix can require vaccination for their employees, Disney can also.
