I wish they would put out a definitive statement.

If no masks then problem solved, I will give my
money to the company that supports the vaccinated.
Considering we're supposed to go there tomorrow I really wish they would put out a statement too. Or at least amend their website so it doesn't say that they're in accordance with the CDC anymore 🤣

A spike in cases in Vermont should not be that concerning at all, with such a high vax rate. Now if deaths went up dramatically there also then of course yes concerning.
And when numbers are as low as VT's currently, people trying to prove a point better not be dramatic just for effect. Current CDC data shows daily new hospital admissions in Vermont are up 300%. That's headline fuel material. The real 7-day average for new admissions? 3. Current hospitalizations, on average? 2.

Restaurants are waiting for Lightfoot and Gov. J.B. Pritzker to take action before changing policy. If the delta variant leads to stricter mandates, Toia says the federal government will need to replenish the Restaurant Revitalization Fund. Restaurant lobbyists are pushing the Biden camp to take action. Toia says only two-third of applicants received funds: “It’s been a rough 15 months,” Toia says.

It’s not “only wearing a mask” it causes economic damage to small business owners.

But mask wearing is all we are talking about right now. If they start to impose more serious mitigations, then we should probably have better data.

Maybe you don’t get it.

Mask wearing alone without any other mitigation causes loss of revenue for many small businesses.

Yes I understand that lives are more important than revenue.

Im just pointing out that everything has an impact and it’s not always a positive one.

Yes why wouldn’t I?

I have been told before I have an ulcer and given pain meds only to be in emergency surgery 8 hours later for an appendix that had to be ripped out of me.

I always seek at least a second if not third opinion and research everything I’m told independently.

I didn’t say second opinion. I said data. I’m assuming you’re a trained medical professional or scientist who could correctly interpret data.

Yup. Last week, I purchased masks (pack of 4) for $6 from Shop Disney. Now, the same pack is $19.99.
I swear the masks weren't discounted yesterday when I checked. I wonder why Disney would discount them again (I wonder if it were to try to avoid negative publicity when they announce the mask mandate).

I can interpret data just fine thanks.

I’m not interpreting the data and making recommendations to others so no harm in that.

It’s how I concluded it was safe to take the vaccine.

For a person who’s screen name means “to think about something carefully” it seems you prefer someone else does all the heavy lifting for you.

Oooooh, it was only a matter of time before you descended into personal insults. Bye now.

Again, you know nothing about me. I'm not an anti-vaxxer. I recommended to my mother that she get the vaccine, which she did.

I may not be any expert you listen to but I am an expert in risk-reward assessment. It's what I do for a living for the last almost 30 years. I continuously analyze data and make determinations before literally $100's of millions are allocated and invested. I did the same thing with Covid and in my Mother's situation determined she was better off getting vaccinated.

As for my own risk-return assessment - here's the bottom line;

My odds of reinfection are very low. If in the rare chance I do get reinfected the overwhelming odds are that my symptoms will be of lesser degree.
So my worse case scenario is I get Covid again and instead of a few weeks of no taste or smell, it's a few days.

Now - people have died after taking the vaccine. Percentage wise it's very small but people have died. People are also getting some pretty severe reactions from it.
That means, in my case if I do get the vaccine my worse case scenario is I die from it and for very little benefit.

Why the h*ll would I get the shot? Seriously.

Now you seem like given the chance would love to strap me down and stick me with the needle without my consent. Frankly it's that kind of mentality that terrifies me much more than Covid.

The odds of the vaccine killing you are tiny - much less than COVID-19 killing you. And there are at least 2 deaths from reinfections that were part of a University of Missouri study (out of 63 reinfections), so your worst case should you get reinfected would also be death. If you're going to argue that dying from the vaccine is your worst case scenario then you have to be consistent and acknowledge that it's also your worst case scenario should you be reinfected. Is there a chance you still have immunity from your infection? Yes. Is there a chance you don't? Also yes.

Reinfection may be rare, but so is death by vaccination. If you've never had an adverse reaction to a vaccine before then the odds are overhwelmingly in favor of you not having an adverse reaction to this one.

I know it’s easy to blame all the unvaccinated folks which is fine but If the delta variant never made it in the US across the border we wouldn’t be having this problem right now. That would have been an easy and smart thing to prevent during a global pandemic but again politics > public health and covid transmission in this country which continues to be swept under the rug.
If the Delta variant made it across the US border into a vaccinated US, it would have nowhere to go and die at the door.
