I’m not surprised, but I am glad Disney is choosing to follow CDC guidelines even when it’s not in their financial best interests. So long as distancing isn’t put back in place and nothing gets canceled, the mask is not a huge deal for me.
Got some bad news for ya.

People here are already calling for distancing.

Mask mandate isn’t even in force yet and it’s already not enough.

That too will effect Disney’s profits and isn’t being called for by CDC currently though, so I think it’s unlikely.

Was that a joke? In case it wasn't... It is still a virus in the same manner as the original. Masks have been proven to work against the original so...... they work with the Delta variant. I am stunned that needed explaining. Do you think the Delta variant is another form of droplets or something? Maybe a nano-virus? Why would you think masks do not work as well on it?
Much higher viral load from Delta means more viral particles trying to escape. How that changes mask effectiveness is unknown.

I don't think anyone questions you could get the Delta variant even after vaccinated. The vaccine is not a panacea. It's more akin to a flu shot that protects primarily against the variant in the shot. However, when vaccinated, you could get a variant not in the shot. However, that doesn't mean you'll be hospitalized. More likely, minor symptoms. That's it.

Exactly. Just like natural immunity. The point here is which may or may not offer more protection. It's up for debate and some data out of Israel is suggesting that natural immunity is providing better protection against reinfection by Delta.

It's going to end when almost every public and private organization, every business and state or local government, puts a mandate in place. That's it. If you want to work, eat out, see a movie, go to a theme park, visit a library, etc., you will need to be vaccinated.

Very soon, people are going to stop letting the unvaccinated hold their lives and the global economy hostage.
I sincerely hope that you are correct. It's absurd that I have to wear a mask and be careful when I've done the right thing for a year while all these people get to do whatever they want with blatant disregard for anyone but themselves.

It's well past time that we flip the script and say that those of us who follow rules can live and the rest can stay at home.

They can't decline you service, but if you provide proof of vaccination they can exempt you from certain protocols. Royal Caribbean is doing this.

On another note, does everyone think single rider lines and pre-shows are sticking around through this wave?
Any guest who provide proof of vaccination can have unlimited access to the fastpass line. Maybe that will motivate some ;)

With the original strains I think it was believed that it would be highly effective in preventing transmission, but it appears that it doesn't work as well with the current strain.

You have the "luxury" of saying you don't care about the unvaccinated, the CDC does not. If unvaccinated people start to overwhelm hospitals it suddenly becomes everybody's problem.

Exactly. The whole point of Delta’s mutations is to spread as fast as possible. Everything up till then - the original strain, then Alpha and so on - the vaccines did a tremendous job of knocking down viral loads to the point where even if was spread, it wouldn’t be enough to trigger infections. It was great protection not just for the vaccinated but helped for the unvaccinated too. It’s part of why herd immunity would work if we got to the 70-75 percent number.

I saw a medical worker in one TX county saying their ICUs are full, and basically warned people that if they got into an accident or something, there likely wasn’t going to be a bed for them. This is the chain of events that terrifies medical personnel. And my friend’s daughter, she’s been a nurse for 2 ½ years, the ICU is filling up again and she’s almost at the end of her mental rope, burned out, exhausted. And so, so angry at how so much of this could’ve been prevented. She’s not even in her mid-twenties.

It is up for debate.

Phillies game was postponed last night because of a Covid outbreak amongst their opponent the Washington Nationals. 11 of the 12 that tested positive have been vaccinated.

Nationals-Phillies game postponed as Washington deals with COVID-19 outbreak

This literally has nothing to do with the facts I posted from the CDC and the point you thought you were making.

Looking the vaccination demographic rate, would not be surprised at all if Disney guests are already around 80% vaccinated or higher. So that might not be the best idea.
