I don’t see what difference it makes. Would you consider it wrong for a YouTuber who makes unboxing videos to return a broken product?

In your example, if they weren't able to review the product, that's perfectly reasonable. That's not how I view what this YouTuber did.

Here's how I look at it. This person walked into the restaurant ordered the burger and upgraded the fries to onion rings. Ate the entire plate. Even used the onion rings to scoop up the delicious sauce that was on his burger. He then ordered a cheesecake. Ate that whole thing too.

Then, as the check came to the table. He paid it. Two days later, he remembered that they forgot to put pickles on his burger. He went back and got a refund for the whole meal.

This YouTuber has something like 50k views on his video. That's probably close to $100 and it's not like he'll get zero views from here on out. He made his content. He watched a show, he ordered a drink at TipTop, he got the Gertie cookie, he ate some food, he watched the fireworks... he wasn't returning a broken product

By your logic, the only people entitled to ask for a refund would be those who ordered no drinks, got no cookies, ate no food, and saw no entertainment. That would be exactly zero people. Of course those who attended tried to make the best of the experience. It doesn't mean they still didn't come away shortchanged and entitled to compensation.

Disney surveys guests about new Disney Jollywood Nights character Ollie

Gee, it's not like they have huge amount of Gingerbread men from MK's Christmas parade they can slap a blue coat on and call him "Original"

I don't know how you all were able to get refunds, here's my experience.
Called Twice.

First attempt I was transferred to three people, including three at Ticket Services, including a supervisor. No exceptions were being made for refunds and they asked a leader for an exception, non-granted.

Second attempt, I called the AP line and got transferred to ticket services again. This person took down the details and know I am getting a credit on the account for future AP renewal.

Both times they offered to hold credit on the account for future events or exchange to MVMCP. Refunds were always denied.
I don’t want to go to a future night. Unused ticket. I was on hold with guest services for 45 minutes. Told me to call back and try again. This sounds like way to much work for an easy request. Nope. We’re following our policy.

The one difference is this person profited by having a bad experience, by recording that and putting it up and making money from that - so, in a way, they got their money's worth. I think in this case though, a lot of people didn't even get a "real" experience as they didn't get much done

I would see it as a bigger deal if it was something they did repeatedly if they were regularly going to events, profiting, and then asking for refunds.

I think a better comparison might be monetizing hate-watching television shows for YouTube and then trying to return your series box sets.

Like, you know what you're doing as a vlogger, and you do everything both good and bad because it's content that helps support you. Should vloggers get refunds for food booths they don't like when they order everything on offer? I think it's a fine line, and it should probably technically be allowed; it's just kind of in poor taste when your whole gimmick is "I tried this so that you didn't have to".

I think I’m in an abusive relationship with Disney.
The bigger issue here is that this was obviously the first in what they hoped to be an annual event.

It was more expensive and inferior to the After Dark events at Disneyland which run for as few as 2 nites and seldom repeat from year to year.

It’s actually inferior to Villains Unleashed. After a bunch of subpar Star Wars events it’s time to face facts, Studios can’t handle a hard ticket.

It’s not the park though. It’s management.

Fill that park with extra entertainment and characters and you already have a win. Give away some free snacks and you have a bigger win.

Deliver a parade and legit fireworks show and you really have a win

I was going to disagree with your assessment that it’s inferior to Villains Unleashed, and then I remembered that VU was $67. Probably a better price value even considering what a disaster that event was.

Plus, VU had like what, 50 characters total? They even flew in unique costumes just for the event. And unique fireworks, a live band on a huge stage instead of the Karaoke Jazz Corner, etc. The more I consider it, that was better. Yikes.

Come on face Hades? That show was awesome
