Ironic that the last name is "Mature".

No excuse at all. But this is the sort of thing that is going to only get worse as they try to squeeze more and more people into the parks.

This. People's behaviour is a function of their environment. Everyone is responsible for their own conduct, but this is the invariable result of overcrowding and targeting hicks for your audience.

I seriously wish Disney would keep jacking their prices up to weed out these white trash idiots. Let them go to Dollywood where they belong. Or Universal.

Too crowded contributes a lot.

Time to raise prices.

Recommended reading material for you all!

Also can I just say if you choose to sit down to watch fireworks in a crowded area you have 0 right to ask people who choose to stand around you to sit down. What kind of entitlement??? Glad she pressed charges on that pitiful excuse of an adult.

You've never been in the FP section for Illuminations, have you?

The locals who FP it on a regular basis (since they work during the day, they use their top tier FP for the Illuminations view spot) try to enforce a stay-seated policy in the area.

Actually, it is nice if everyone stays seated. But as soon as someone up front stands, then the chain reaction of everyone else having to stand starts. It's non unknown for people to shout to others to remain seated. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. And I've seen that happen at the MK, too.

I remain agnostic: if everyone remains seated, great. If they stand, then fine, I'll stand. I don't try to enforce anything... except for idiots Facetiming/Skyping the fireworks with someone who's at home and they carry on an out-loud conversation with them as if there's a cone of silence around them. Those I tell to shut up.

Thats as big of an ignorant assed statement as I have seen on here in a while. You obviously have not been to Dollywood because if you had you would have known that both the guests and the people that work there are some of the nicest, considerate people you will ever meet.
I second this. Cast Members are usually amazing, but the workers at Dollywood are ALWAYS amazing.

Just out of curiosity, who should be the target audience for Disney vacations? Over your posts, you have attacked 'hicks', 'athletes', and 'defense contractors', to name a few, as the 'bad' group. What group is worthy of Disney vacations?

Look man I understand that that comes across as pretty harsh but I just think there are such a thing as "Disney people" and then there are such a thing as people that just wanna go to ride stuff. I think the people that just wanna go ride stuff are really not gonna truly enjoy Disneyworld and would be better served going to a different park. I know all about Dollywood because I live about 45 minutes from it and probably have a natural resentment for it because of all the people who try and convince me that I'm dumb for spending so much time at Disneyworld because Dollywood is "just as good". No. Not it's not. Neither is Universal and Universal even markets itself as being basically the anti-Disney. Remember that commercial about how they said "If fairy tales and pixie dust aren't your thing..."? The white trash part was in reference to how ridiculous she looked in the pics in the article and yeah if you're gonna choke a kid, for any reason, then you are a white trash idiot. Or a black trash idiot. Or any kind of idiot. It's uncalled for. Period. And if you harbor enough animosity to choke a kid and Disney is "for kids" then why in the crap are you there? The woman is obviously a moron.

it wasn't a choke, it was a hug because she was happy she could see again. I hope they have some witness to support the claim she was choked. I have never known any teenager to exaggerate.

For me, personally, when I think of people that Disneyworld is "right for" then I think of people that are young at heart and enjoy using their imaginations and appreciate that intricate artistic touch that Disney puts on everything they do. If you're one of those people that likes to complain about how everything is "too expensive" and hate lines and don't like crowds and don't like to plan then I would say that Disney is not the place for you. People can call me an "elitist" or whatever but I really think there is a certain natural disposition a person has to have to really enjoy a place like Disneyworld. I'm sort of a more high strung person that likes to go, go, go, and therefore a place like the beach is just a complete waste of time and money for me. However, I know people that absolutely love going to every beach they can possibly find and they would never want to go to Disneyworld because they just feel like they couldn't "relax" there. Although for me I do feel relaxed when I'm running around park hopping and experiencing all the things I love about Disneyworld. That's not for everybody and that's fine. Probably even a lot of the posters here don't do it that way but I'm sure we all love Disneyworld just the same.

Regardless if it was an actual "choke" or not doesn't matter. You don't put your hands on another person with ill intent for any reason. Even if she just pushed her or moved her that is crossing a line and is inexcusable even if the girl was a grown up.

That all may or may not be true. But your mistake was making it about money. Plenty of rich people are rich and entitled. Plenty of people without a lot of money know how to behave themselves.

Um, I'm pretty sure the PP was making a joke.

Not disagreeing with you, just think it's going to be hard to have a case. The story is that she choked her, if it turns out to be a push, the teenager loses all credibility. It better be a choke and she better have good witnesses.

I'm shocked this doesn't happen more often. Just walking through the hub prior to fireworks is like walking through a pool of piranhas.
Or staking out a spot for Illuminations, or squeezing through the crowd pre- or post-parade at MK, or waiting in the crowd for the Star Wars show. I think that Disney security is really excellent about shutting down any violence when it happens. The combination of an overcrowded space full of tired, cranky, frustrated guests, 99% humidity, and 100-degree heat is going to inevitably result in flared tempers, no matter whether you're a "hick" (??) or a kajillionaire.

No one is saying that it is OK, what we are saying is that we don't think that the entire story has been told. Yes, it was wrong to touch the kid, but, let's not make like "the kid" is completely innocent in this story. I've seen some pretty obnoxious teenagers that I would like to strangle myself, but, I have control over most of my emotions. Smart a$$ teenagers need to learn something and really quickly... not everyone is stable mentally. Right or wrong they are out there and to mouth off (if that is what happened) can easily trigger someone that is "on the edge". Like it or not, right or wrong... reality says it can happen. Perhaps the message is Don't Be An Idiot just because you are a snotty nosed teenager.
If the kid did get mouthy (may not have happened but is possible) then there are a large group of us that feel that perhaps they got what they deserved. You don't give respect you don't get respect. Perhaps scared straight is another way to put it.

I don't think someone being a "smart a$$ teenager" is justification for being attacked TBH. What probably happened was (and this is just a guess if there's no video), that when the girl stood up, the woman more than likely shouted something vulgar (which 9 times out of 10 happens when someone's view is obstructed), the girl came back with a reply the woman obviously didn't like and she attacked her.

Again, if there's no video to say otherwise, then that's more than likely what happened. Again, being a "smart a$$" in no way means you're obliged to attack them, especially if it's something you said that warranted the response.

No one as said it was justified. What we are saying is stop acting like we live in a world of unicorns and marshmallows. There are seriously ill people out there. Provoking them is stupid and no one should be surprised if something bad happens. It is that foolish thought that outlawing something makes it go away. Law abiding people aren't breaking the law anyway, it's the ones that don't care or cannot care that we have to be cautious about and if we are going to challenge them, we damn sure better be able to back ourselves up to defend or at least learn from the experience and don't repeat it.
