It's hard to compare, but let's break this down....

$200 for breakfast, 75 mins to ride 3 rides as much as you can, then 3 FP for the rest of the day in one park that has like 5 other rides and some shows vs....

$300 for unlimited FOL for 20ish rides across 2 parks....

Both out of whack but comparatively you can’t really say Uni is way overpriced in this example

That’s where I’m at...also to make an accurate comparison we have to figure the cost of a one day hopper (if they still exist?)...which would push the Disney price to about $400

thats fine...but this is a WDW forum soo....just VIP tour every one of your days in the parks....be done with it. but for the masses things like this matter. and it sort of affects everyone indirectly....regular EMH are likely affected scheduling wise and or replaced with this offering on some days. and even if the money is no issue and your a certified jordan belfort in the 90s type is it so wrong to simply demand better...

You do understand he was joking about the apologists, right?
Just making sure...

I'm still trying to figure out why people are paying $70 for cupcakes and a FW view during an upsell event like MNSSHP....

An upsell during an upsell....And if you were there during the day, it's upsell upon upsell upon upsell.....$300 for the day there, but at least you got dessert!

And thats being generous as there are only 3 other rides, the rest are shows. At this point, Disney isn't even trying. I guess they are trying. Trying to see how crummy a deal they can throw out that people will still pay for. Gotta know where the bottom is I guess.

...you know I have no answers on that, Lav...

My only guesses are:
1. Irresponsible consumers
2. Frighteningly stupid group think actions

I fear your guesses are right on the money (pun intended). If people realized how stupid it is to pay for that, they wouldn't. I'm curious about the analytics of the data. Are a majority of those that buy in first timers and don't know, they the "I don't care I have too much money" crowd, or are they too high on Pixie dust to know better?

Here’s where I “sorta” defend Disney...

They’re “trying”...construction underway. The problem is they should also be heavily criticized. Bob iger obviously didn’t understand the dynamic in Florida...and had no one to guide him. WDW is what it is - a once in the world type success - because they stayed AHEAD of the curve. The built each new park and support facilities before any had become saturated.

It’s organic growth that preserved its unique appeal/ambience.

Iger killed that by not adding. It’s that simple.

I understand responsibility of a CEO to cost account and squeeze margins...that’s not in dispute. But you have to be “5 years” ahead of the crowd curve and he simply didn’t get it.

What they could be doing is rushing construction to compensate and rolling out new projects to follow...but he’s a pencilneck...so we’re back to square one.

I’ll go with the latter.

Normal humans are traveling in record numbers...but the rise of this kind of nonsense in upsell is all the fault of the duster.

You can’t guarantee they aren’t shortening hours. And to be honest...in September they are.

Selling blocks eliminates what they used to do: lengthen hours based on crowds.

You know...included in the ticket?

What a brave new world we have

Yep.

And I'm noticing some posters are more focused on thinking that we're attacking the idea of them going to it or that they can't find a benefit out of it. I'm sure you can find it beneficial, none of that's really the point we're all trying to make.

Indeed...

It’s the standard “it’s worth it to ME” nonsense argument.
This one might be...then they crunch the polling and financial data and they do another one...and another and another...

And then...at some point...it’s not worth it...so you say “no”

But that’s not the endpoint...what if what they upsell is something taken away that used to be standard? Like a place In line for just the cost of your ticket?

...none of these “skiers” are aware that there’s a cliff at the bottom of the slope...not a $600 disney Hotel with “club level”

I sign up for this every trip at MK. With my son walking more (making us slower than when carrying him) we got on 7DMT 5 times, Peter Pan 3 times, and Winnie the Pooh twice. Then hit another rider or two and got a nice breakfast... Now take your standard park day and try to do just those things and see how long it takes you. We were done with them by 10am, when most families are just starting to get to the park.

Guaranteed low wait times for SDD...? Yes please

Exactly! We only did it once, unfortunately wasn’t available when we went last year.. we absolutely loved it and would do again in a heartbeat.

I probably wouldn’t do TSL though, rather do a Star Wars extra at HS.
Although, I’m sure people with younger kids will take advantage of this!

Bottom line for me is that I do not care if they want to open the park at 6:00 or 7:00 to do this but they are taking time from regular ticket holders. As someone else said, they are selling blocks of time. Last time we were there we were looking to have a quick meal at the MK before 5:00 but the two or three places close were already shut down to hand out cookies for the Christmas party that night. If they want to close early or open late they should reduce regular ticket prices.

If someone was a first timer or Seldom timer...I can see it...

But...when the words “every time” are used...I’m hoping there’s a paramedic nearby with narcan

Or.. if someone enjoys a ride. We go on the same rollercoasters all summer long.. sometimes several consecutive times at passholder only events.

Ask a kid if they get sick of a ride they love.. most will say “No.”

...OR.. some people are willing to pay for convenience and an unforgettable/enjoyable experience.

You can not compare EMH to these events. They’re completely different.

You shot past the paying extra part for it.

It’s required to have admission for the day...so about $200 beans all in for the rides and an unmemorable breakfast...

Maybe the kid shouldn’t have the call?

Breakfast and 3 rides is not an EVENT. Overflow from capacity is not an EVENT. Cupcakes and old fire works is not an EVENT.

Jeez, do you mind if I call you “jade” from now on??

And if you go twice a year...it’s obviously “forgettable”

Chill out dude, whenever I see you on a thread it's always worked up and angry at somebody or something.
