Of course they do...people just don't want to admit it. And Disney "fast food" is somehow better for you, more pure, and much more magical while McDonald's is eeeeevillllllll.:snore:

Frankly, after eating Disney "fast food" for a week, I was ready for a Big Mac.:slurp:
How long have you worked for McDonalds? :animwink:

Then why has McDonalds made some changes to the way the make Fries? Why do they now offer Salads? Why does Lays offer healthier (not healthy) varieties of chips? Low Cal Beer? I'm all for a nice fat Quarter Pounder but shouldn't McDonalds do what they can to make sure that if there are ways to make the Quarter Pounder a little healthier, this would be a huge step in helping the cause from their side?

By no means am I singling out McDonalds, BUT, McDonalds is the corporation we are discussing here...

Profit. Plain and Simple.

McDonalds made some changes to their recipes to make people feel better about the company, like they cared which means all the negative nannies get off their backs a bit and the negative PR about the company goes away. They also offer salads because people will buy them. The health craze (which is a good craze mind you) is starting to take off and if they want to compete with Subway et. al they need to have something remotely healthy for those who want it.

The same thing for low fat/carb varieties of beer/chips/etc.... There's a market for it and if they don't tap into it someone else will. Personally I'm on a diet, if it weren't for Michelob Ultra I wouldn't be drinking any beer right now so they're making a lot more money off of those of us who prefer a slightly watered down taste to save on calories.

Don't go get all idealistic thinking these companies are doing any of this because they want to see people lose weight, they're doing it to keep their name recognition and to gain profit. None of them have any kind of responsibility to us to make a healthy low fat option, but if they can find a way to market it and make a profit off of it or find that even losing money on that particular product helps them make profit in the long run through name branding recognition and loss of negative PR then it's worth it.<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

I won't eat the disney french fries because I don't like them, but if I was going to eat FF in disney it would be McD's because I like them and I choose to eat them regardless if they are good or bad for me, it is my choice.

I don't blame McD's for what they are doing, they are out there to make a profit and stay in business. The only reason they make changes to the recipes or add healthier menu items is to increase their business, they are not worried about your waistline. Their only responsibility is to make more profit and keep their shareholders happy. It is the parents who are to blame, the 4-10 yr. olds doesn't walk or drive to McD's by themselves.

They do that because we live in a capitalist society, and they aren't doing anyone any favors by offering salads. If you take lettuce and add chicken, bacon, cheese, and extremely fattening dressing, you basically have a Big Mac in a bowl. If there is to be any blame or fix, it has to be on the part of the person shoving that Big Mac down their throat. There is no reason that McDonalds or anyone needs to get rid of their high calorie food, because people will eat high calorie food regardless, so Mickey D's would just be losing money on that deal. It's a sad fact of life that a pound of ice cream tastes much better than a pound of lettuce.

McBoring

Our kids response upon seeing McD fry stands in the parks..
"Boring! We have McD's at home."
Our kids eat McD's maybe once every 2 months or so.
It just seems very "unimagineering" to have McDonald's at Walt Disney World, which is otherwise a pretty special place wherever you go.

I wouldn't be against the idea if maybe McD's offered foods under their name on WDW property that they don't offer anywhere else.
Small stretch, but maybe "McD's curly fries, offered nowhere else except on Disney property, with the same taste of McD's fries that you know and love."

Shields up!

I was in Maine years ago and we saw a sign in front of a McD's for test market, I guess...
Sitting down?

Here it comes....

McPizza.

Coming from an area dominated by Italian restaurants and particularly pizzerias, I had a big laugh.

When McD's first dropped their supersize stuff, I had seen a political cartoon showing and extremly overweight man order his supersized. The counter person stated that they no longer have that due to obesity in America, he then replied , and I quote, "Ok give me to large fries", unquuote. No one was twisting his arm or anyone else's.

Some of you act like someone is holding a gun to your head forcing you to take your children to McDonald's. The key is moderation. My parents only let me go to McD's on special occassions and if we went there once a month that was overdoing it. I hear about parents these days bringing home McD's 3 to 4 times a night and that is appauling. McDonald's is obviously not the problem here. ALso if someone enjoys eating McD's fries while on vacation, how is that hurting you? If you don't like it then dont' buy them, simple as that. This board is infested w/ a lot of people who have nothing better to do but complain about every little thing.....sheesh! :brick:

And honestly, how much worse off will you be eating chicken mcnuggets and mickey d's fries than if you eat Disney's chicken tenders and fries? They are probably about the same. Let's face it, the average American loves McDonalds--that's why every town in America with more than 100 people has a gas station and a mickey d's.

You don't get fat going to Disney

I like to believe that I live a healthy lifestyle but when I go to Disney, food is the first thing on my mind. Its practically the main reason I go. I eat more in a week at Disney than I do in 2 weeks at home, no joke. And everytime I go, I find I lose weight. So I can rest easy when I go to Disney, its actually a better diet than the one I follow. Maybe Disney can use that in a marketing campaign.

Regardless of what Disney is trying to make us believe, they did not dump Mc D's. Last year Mc D's decided they did not want an exclusive deal with Disney. Why? Because Disney movies weren't doing very well.

Now I wonder what Mc D thinks now that Disney bought Pixar. :brick:

So Disney is not concerned about the fatty foods Mc D is selling. Disney sells the same fatty foods in Disney. Now I'm not complaining as I love the fatty foods.....I'm just stating Disney is trying to twist the story to make themselves look concerned.

I just don't like seeing "reality" when I am in the parks. When I see McD's I think of the one infront of my place of work. I do inhome services and I am always stoping for quick fast food since I never really get a lunch.

McD's = normality
Disney = not normality

I could give a hoot as to the health benifits of the food I eat when I am on vacation, but I don't like seeing a well known outside brand in WDW.

I always avoid getting any of the fri carts in my pictures and videos, it ruins the magic for me.

On another note: what do you think they will do with the huge McD's at DTD?

As discussed in the other thread only the movie deal is off. There will still be MCD's at the parks, and their fries will still be there. The part that is off is the Disney toys in MCD's happy meals etc.. This was also stated in some of the artciles that have been posted in regards to this story.

Uh ok so maybe Disney should start producing its own soda because seeing Coke there just "ruins the magic".....

Hey now, I ment no hostility in that post. I was just saying that I don't like seeing McD's carts in WDW. I also avoid the Coke signs in my videos, not because I don't enjoy the product, I just don't feel it belongs in my vacation memories.

People get angry very easily on this board... I was only posting my opinion and did not want to ruffle any feathers.

As for the one in DTD, sorry I didn't read the other threads so I didn't know about that.

Sorry I didn't mean any ill will in my post towards you, I was just making a point that there are a lot of outside companies operating in WDW. My apologies....

Besides, labels on fountains and on the carts aren't nearly as bad as the mcdonals they tried to theme but it's still a mc donalds no matter what theming they put around it.

If everybody voice their concern to the proper person they can change the menu even at their Local MacDonald to serve a more balance meal. In Philippine the McDonald does not serve fries because most of them serve RICE and instead of burger many Asian eat spaghetti. As for chicken nuggets I do not know if they have them there but I did see the Local Mcdonald there serving chicken drumsticks.

On my last trip to Philippine I stop at a local McDonald and order a Big Mac and have to wait over five Minute for them to cook one. And when I got it I was surprise to find it have the cardboard ring around the center and a styraform container. Which have disappear here in America for years.

Disney have a lot of great places to serve a variety of differ foods to choose from. No one need to keep eating American food all the time. But most choose burger and fries because it fast to get so they get to the next attraction they want to see.

I would be more concern about why I need to eat again after getting off every attraction or show instead of what I eat between then.
