Disney Destiny

You are definitely entitled to your opinion. It’s just not one that is backed up by reality.

Compare Tritons and Parrot Cay to any of the restaurants on the Destiny and tell me which are more basic and less themed.
I’m not referring to the restaurants. Just the overall design, fixtures, the main spaces. It looks nice. It’s just not distinctly Disney. At least not in my opinion. But it doesn’t mean it’s ugly or not enjoyable.

I think the older ones like the Magic and Wonder seem to have more charm in their design. That’s just me. I’m nostalgic for old Disney. Even if yes, they’ve been renovated over time.

How many of the DCL ship classes have you sailed on? Or have you just been on those original two?

I’m still confused though because the overall design and main spaces are objectively more Disney than ever. Many even complain about this very fact.

I think they are associating Disney to a design style, vs IP being integrated into the design.

At least that’s the vibe I’m getting from their posts.

To them the old ship designs felt more “Disney”, likely based on some sort of design preference or philosophy they hold.

You literally can hardly tell this is a Disney ship in many spots. Why is the theming getting so vague? Why is just a Disney photo on the wall good enough? Where is the over the top immersion?

I like the Cruella bar, but it looks extremely small. Is there a reason Disney does not scale things to demand and makes them so small?

I don’t mean to be overly negative or critical but when you’re paying the DCL premium , you should expect the “Disney difference” and I just don’t really see it
Um have you seen the four original ships? Hardly any theming.

All the reviews so far are raving about how destiny theming has gone up a level. Its a pro of this ship. Not a con. Haunted mansion bar, cask and cannon pub, de ville. Lion king dinner show.

My point is they’ve gotten more basic or less themed in design over the years and I’m entitled to such opinion.
Your entitled to your very wrong opinion. What bars on the magic and wonder are themed? I means there is a bar with a car theme on wonder. How is that disney? How is dreams skyline bar more disney themed then haunted mansion bar and star wars lounge?

The only themed restaurant on the dream class is animators. Wish class have two very heavily themed restaurants rather then one. The lobbies on dream and magic class are far less themed then the wish class lobbies.

You come across as incredibly intolerant. With no concept of subtlety.

Just for example, the old chandelier on the Magic was extremely unique, colorful, artistic. The new ones are much more bland and look like something you might see anywhere. Don't think anyone would say a rather plain white chandelier like seen on some of the newer boats is an upgrade. The new ones may have more overt Disney touches like IP slapped on the wall, but that isn't what I'm talking about. I am talking about a degree of detail, design, uniqueness, etc that Disney used to be known for, not feeling like a vaguely Disney themed iteration of something found elsewhere.

No disrespect but which DCL ships have you actually been on?

As I’ve stated I’m going off of photos and videos that don’t lie. Over time this my opinion that some of the design elements have been rendered more bland, and Disney has decided slapping artwork on the wall is good enough. We see this in the resorts too, like the shadow boxes at Pop Century being replaced with character murals. Are they still cute? Yes. Are they still Disney? Yes. Are they the precious level of design and thought? No. This phenomenon is happening on the ships too from what I’ve seen. That’s all I was saying. No need to take it as a personal attack as some seem to. If you like it great, go do it. I don’t care.

Before I’m jumped on for judging on photos and videos that happens every single day with everything on these forums. We judge things before seeing them based on the relentless coverage. It’s not a new thing

You have every right to post on a DCL ship forum to complain that the newer ships you’ve never been on are not as well-themed as the older ships you’ve never been on.

I was just clarifying to decide how much weight, if any, to give your opinions.

No Disney ship has a plain white chandelier.
