That’s pretty plain to me. Especially as compared to the previous one.
Just so you know, the entirety of the oval is considered the chandelier, so it's not just plain white. Though I completely agree with you that replacing a Dale Chihuly sculptured piece with that was a travesty.

The Dream's chandelier is the most epic of DCL light fixtures. The Fantasy's "peacock" fixture is also pretty cool.

I'm the first one to cast aspersions on the Wish chandelier, they tried for it to be special and princessy, and it looks nice until you get up close and see that many of the supposed parts of it that extend on the ceiling are decals instead of actual lights. And to notice that, a few months after inauguration, those decals were peeling off the ceiling was very disappointing.

That said, the chandelier on the Treasure is incredibly well thought-out, well themed, and very well placed. It lends great atmosphere to the great hall (or whatever it's called).

As much as I disdain the Wish, I admire the Treasure. The photos of the Destiny look pretty darn good, and I'll see that chandelier in person next year.

But this white chandelier is not on the newer boats as you've noted in your original message.

I mean one can dislike the design of the newer chandelier because it doesn't reflect their style of preference, but none of the Wish, Treasure or Destiny chandeliers are anywhere in the realm of 'plain white'. And I wouldn't say they are designs you can see everywhere - which chain hotels or ships or mall can I find chandelier looking like the ones on the Treasure?

I understand some people prefer the older ships design because of their oceanliner Art Decor style with nautical themes, which admittedly is more rare these days, and give off the impression they have become dictinctively 'Disney'. But Disney didn't invent these styles, they are a particular style of a specific era on their own.

Do you have photos that show what you’re talking about here?

You know what's funny?
Same. I’m just curious because I don’t remember decals being part of the Wish’s chandelier. Now the Magics currents chandelier and the Wonders original chandelier both have decal elements.
When I was on the Magic back in December of 2022, I do recall seeing some decals (or whatever you want to call it) peeling off as well. I just looked through my photos but I never took one of the chandelier that trip. Just saying this because it seems it can happen. Not mad about it or anything. Things happen. And point taken about the Wish's chandelier being different.

Wow, that's disappointing.

From the floor of the grand hall, it does look like lots of little lights spreading out from the chandelier. Standing at the railing on Deck 5, overlooking the atrium, it became noticeable that they were just reflective decals. And I probably would not have noticed that at all, had I not seen a few of them with edges peeling back from the surface.

Just for example, the old chandelier on the Magic was extremely unique, colorful, artistic. The new ones are much more bland and look like something you might see anywhere. Don't think anyone would say a rather plain white chandelier like seen on some of the newer boats is an upgrade. The new ones may have more overt Disney touches like IP slapped on the wall, but that isn't what I'm talking about. I am talking about a degree of detail, design, uniqueness, etc that Disney used to be known for, not feeling like a vaguely Disney themed iteration of something found elsewhere.
which one in a newer boat is a plain white chandlier? It seems i replied to the wrong person. None of them look like "plain white chandliers"

They’re all really kind of conservative in design and color compared to this, though I do like the middle one you posted

Pretty sure the color is surely so they can do the shows in the atrium with specialty colors/changing effects for the whole thing to glow correctly.

But Idk I would say its not necessarily a case of old vs new when some of the old ships also have fairly simple designs.

As I’ve stated I’m going off of photos and videos that don’t lie. Over time this my opinion that some of the design elements have been rendered more bland, and Disney has decided slapping artwork on the wall is good enough. We see this in the resorts too, like the shadow boxes at Pop Century being replaced with character murals. Are they still cute? Yes. Are they still Disney? Yes. Are they the precious level of design and thought? No. This phenomenon is happening on the ships too from what I’ve seen. That’s all I was saying. No need to take it as a personal attack as some seem to. If you like it great, go do it. I don’t care.

Before I’m jumped on for judging on photos and videos that happens every single day with everything on these forums. We judge things before seeing them based on the relentless coverage. It’s not a new thing
So clearly you havent seen any of the videos of the bars, show restaurants, kids clubs or even hallways on new ships. All vastly higher quality then the old ships. I can see valid arguments made on the grand hall not being as high on quality as the old ships. But in the end I prefer the grand hall in the new ships because of the theming, originality and the lighting elements which are simply far more magical. Likewise i can see some valid arguments on the adults only restaurants and staterooms not being as well themed in the new ships but the difference is minor here. I do prefer the aesthetics of palo and remy in the older ships

You come across as incredibly intolerant. With no concept of subtlety.
Strongly disagreeing isnt what intolerant means. When someone claims the earth is flat and i strongly disagree im not being intolerant. Im only intolerant if i think those with different views dont deserve the same rights including the freedom to voice their views. Please voice your views as much as possible. Im not trying to stop you from doing so.

They dont do chandeliers like this anymore because 1) the eighties is over and they are now viewed as incredibly ugly and 2) the modern chandeliers need lighting effects which greatly enhance the space.

That's all I was saying to begin with. There is a decline in quality at least IMO. Doesn't mean the product is awful and doesn't mean the new ships aren't beautiful in their own right. The good news is there are more options now for everyone to choose from and choose what they prefer. I just am saying in general I don't like the lack of color and life in modern design which yes has also affected Disney resorts/cruise line.
