If you're under the impression that Muppets are only for an older demographic, you either haven't been talking to the right people, or you don't know how to ask.

And the usual stigma is that people tend to see puppetry, much like animation, chiefly as kids' stuff. To see someone essentially imply the opposite is...amusing, to say the least

I wonder if Muppet Vision will go into the Sunset Theater when Villains leaves? I would just move the Villains Show to Beauty and the Beast & move muppet vision next to RNRC. Then the Villains show would be next door to Fantasmic. Wishful thinking.

Yeah, it flopped, just like most of the other Muppet projects. Yeesh.

Won an Emmy. Which is more then you can say for a lot of streaming shows that Disney can't be bothered to actually market.

They basically can just keep the plot and swap out Aerosmith for Electric Mayhem. A fictitious band featuring characters who are known to reside in Hollywood isn't really a stretch at all.

EDIT: Rushing to get somewhere in a chaotic fashion is very on brand for the Muppets.

EDIT #2: The announcement also is clear real musicians are being incorporated which helps even further the connection to reality.

This is all true and good - other than it doesn't solve the Hollywood Studios/Sunset Strip theming problem b/c the Mayhem are a NOLA based band....don't know why I care since Hollywood Studios is just MK West at this point - or maybe Disneyland South with Railway, Galaxy's, and Star Tours all there. I would have loved to see a Muppets Studios attraction, to fit the park.

In terms of bands/music, Aerosmith only resonates with us “old farts”. Steven Tyler and Disney would love nothing more than to end whatever connection they have to the other due to reasons. It’s a win win.

Yes, Aerosmith is past their prime and actually now retired. However, you would be surprised how much teens get exposed to classic music on tiktok/youtube, etc....certainly more than whatever songs electric mayhem is putting out there. Also, Aerosmith music is more intense and a good fit for this thrilling of a coaster, with a loop to keep small kids likely away.

I am happy the Muppets have a presence, just hate to see the remaining park theming go away. I'll be very sad when the closed studio store is finally ripped out, so maybe I'm a bad source.

This is depressing. The Muppets are great; they just don't belong in this thrill ride. They belong in a theater show.

Welp, it should have been a total eviction. Once again, Iger and his "Imagineers" fail to read the room. Flop after flop after flop from the puppets, yet apparently the dorks at Disney feared the online retaliation in the event of the puppet theater closure (which said retaliation would NOT represent the feelings of the general public, which has failed to show up at movie theaters or watch the shows starring the puppets...hence, flop after flop after flop) and so is trying to please everybody(?) With the usual results.

But what's funny about this, is that the puppet fans are screaming about this new development anyway. They want a hokey, dated attraction to remain in WDW forever. Disney can't win with those guys, so the sensible thing would be to make a clean break and render WDW puppet-free, just like all of the other Disney parks around the world. Most people, including kids, wouldn't care. But instead, with this move, Disney is generating more resentment. Not even its promise that it's going to preserve some of the stuff from the theater and place it - where? in its own mausoleum near the Haunted Mansion? Say! Maybe there'll be a Kermit the Frog headstone near Mr. Toad! Synergy! - is enough. This is a really lame choice and really bad PR move. And I fail to see how it's going to help park attendance or make WDW worth all the ridiculous price hikes. Fail, Iger. You've failed again. All hail Epic Universe!

This is my guess:

• Film (in 2D and 3D) goes to Disney+
• Animatronics, especially Statler and Waldorf gets re-purposed at RnR;
• Sweetums M&G near RnR

The copy of Puppetry Journal currently sitting a few inches from my left elbow specifically exists to respond to such notions, as does Puppetry International. The masses might not read these articles, but the people doing an awful lot of work to bring puppetry to all audiences certainly do.
