Disney confirms 'Frozen' makeover coming to Epcot's Norway Pavilion

I am fine with adding more Disney characters to the park, I like Disney characters and expect to see them freaking all over the place when I am at WDW. :)
If this is truly how you feel then I'm afraid to say you're part of the problem. Throughout my life I never expected characters absolutely everywhere at Walt Disney World because they set a standard for themselves and I saw it. Character attractions were mostly restricted to Magic Kingdom, specifically in Fantasyland until Buzz, Stitch and Monsters moved into Tomorrowland but those don't bother me, much. Epcot was completely free from that. One of my favorite rides growing up was Spaceship Earth. It made me excited for the future and I understood it just fine without being talked down to (stupid Judi and her ABC's). I don't remember Horizons or World of Motion but after watching videos I more than likely would've enjoyed those just the same. Now we'll have Nemo, The Three Caballaros and Frozen all in a park that was never meant to have such things. If you don't see the problem with this then there is only one answer.

You know what's funny?

You just couldn't avoid the typical "someone disagrees with me so I am going to blame 'pixie dust'", could you? Let's find some new material.

Well, pixie dust is addictive!

Horizon's or World of Motion were great along with Body wars and Cranium Command. Change is good, but this is near derailment going on in WS. I just hope that WDI includes Norway's true culture and history and does not go with a Fantasyland princess version of a ride when completed.

You're gonna have to get over whatever this feeling is you've got. Let me play you a song.

If the new Stars Wars movie is a dud like Lone Ranger, then I think we can pretty much forget any Star Wars land coming to any of the Disney parks. On the other hand if Star Wars is a hit then a makeover of the American Adventure won't be far behind.

Even if Star Wars Episode 7 is terrible, it will still pull in a crap ton of money. Popular IP + effects + $$$ (see also: Transformers, which are GOBAWFUL and yet still get sequels).

When someone encourages the further toonification of Epcot yes I do consider it being part of the problem of Disney turning Epcot into Magic Kingdom overfill.

Already confirmed Norway won't be represented in the ride by Disney themselves.
"If you’ve always wished you could visit Arendelle, now’s your chance. Just this morning, it was announced that a Frozen-themed attraction will soon grace the Norway Pavilion in Epcot at Walt Disney World. The ride, which will replace Maelstrom, promises to take guests through the fictional landscape of Arendelle and right into scenes and songs from the movie. There’ll be music, there’ll be light, there’ll probably be some breathtaking animatronics."

Then my first question would be, why continue to call it World Showcase? It seem silly to have a the country of Norway in the World Showcase and have a restaurant full of princesses and a ride that is of a princess story. At least they will have the Stave Church and some historical Norwegian information. Weak, very weak.

If you really want Disney to do something differently, then you need to get 3% of all Disney shareholders behind your idea. If you do that, then you can appoint someone to the board of directors. It just so happens that there are over 1.7 billion shares of common stock. So 3% of that is roughly 51.5 million shares, or $4.65 billion worth of shares.

Apologists are rallying behind their corporation of choice. Most gratifying.
That sure sounds like the definition of the word apologist.

a person who offers an argument in defense of something controversial.

Congratulations, you get a Weber dictionary gold star for today! ;)

Try explaining that to Disney and the people who insist Frozen is a perfect way to show off Norway based on design choices used for the movie.

Think for yourselfer
Dinosaur is based on the movie Dinosaur, albeit very loosely.

Actually...

Actually, that ride was not based on the movie. It was built before the movie, and originally called, "Countdown to Extinction." They renamed the ride to coincide with the movie's release (and to give the marketing people a happy day -- not to mention letting the MBAs use one of their buzzwords, "re-branding," when they want to make renaming something seem like they are actually doing something substantive but are not).

Business school commentary aside, Dinosaur is the same ride as Countdown to Extinction. It was re-named to tie in with the movie, and never changed back. It actually was the kind of ride that was stand-alone thrill ride that happened to have education (about the dinosaur extinction and asteroid theory) thrown in. It did not have any movie characters in it; and neither does it now. Only the name matches the movie.

Beat me to it.

Sure. Until official confirmation was given by the company, it was still a rumor. Just like it was an unconfirmed rumor when an 'insider' stated that they were going to totally remove Norway from the pavillion and officially make it an 'Arendelle' pavillion. Insider rumors are awesome, but they aren't confirmed until the company confirms them. The insiders actually benefit from this take on it because they are allowed to save face with the understanding that sometimes companies change their plans.

Hard to believe you are still banging this drum.

Everyone who disagrees with you is 'part of the problem'. Okiedokie.

On this particular point of contention, yep. If you think Frozen and Arendell should be taking over Norway, YOU are part of the problem. Part of the dumbing down of Disney parks. Which, if you happen to be a dummy, is probably what you would want.

*I am using "you" in a general sense.

Apologists are rallying behind their corporation of choice. Most gratifying.

The corporation loves me and I love it. How dare you call our relationship into question?!?!
