I’ve been watching The Marvels on D+ and this is another example that confirms my decision to wait and watch Disney movies on D+. I’d have been disappointed if I’d paid money to see this in theaters.

It’s ok but it feels like a made for D+ show far more than a theatrical release.

Disney has blurred the lines between box office movie and straight to dvd (D+) movie and I think that’s also diminishing the need to see movies in theaters.

I only saw it in theaters because it didn't cost me anything extra with AMC-A list. I didn't hate the Marvels like I did Thor: Love and Thunder, but it was definitely one of the MCU's weaker outings and further damaged the brand after a win was desperately needed.

What is really concerning is that Disney spent $275 Million to make that "made for D+ show". If they'd done it on the cheap for $75 Million it would make more sense, even though with a budget of only $75 Million it still would have lost $25 Million or so at the box office.

Instead, they spent $275 Million to make it, mega millions to market it, and Disney lost $228 Million (taking into account the $55 Million rebate check compliments of the British government) after it bombed at the global box office!

Uh.... Marvel, you've got a problem.

I watched it for the first time last night, too. It is not a good film. It felt like if Marvel intentionally made a Lifetime movie. There's a reason why Lifetime movies are on Lifetime (and have no budget) and Marvel films are shown in theaters (and have explosive budgets).

Lifetime / Disney channel vibes.

I found it fun but it’s not going to make the top of my rewatch list, which I’m guessing is exactly what Disney expected, as a middle aged white guyI’ve already got a dozen Marvel favorites I watch a couple times a year, this won’t make my list but will probably make a bunch of younger people’s lists.

Unfortunately for Disney the younger people they are catering too don’t seem to go to the theaters like our generation does/did.
