Depends on which street.

The moms were new.

Strange World was new.
And I’ve been consistent in supporting those types of new story details…but…they are mishandling the rollout. It takes more tact than they have displayed…but Bob Inc is screwing up across the entire board…so I’m not going out on a limb

It’s the “how?”…not the “what? And the why?”

We have to work with what the world gives us…sometimes that might be lying/outsmarting bigots to make them irrelevant.

Lol…$100 a theater is like 6-7 tickets

Oh man…is hilarious and infuriating

Why haven’t there been mass changes at TWDC?
Nothing is on the correct trajectory

And Bob firing secretaries and doing frozen 12 isn’t exactly bold

This damn fool talked about “brand” over substance for 15 while a lot of you clowns cheered him

And now all the brands are smoldering

Star Wars is dead? I must not have gotten the memo when I went to Star Wars land on my last visit to Disneyland and the standby line to Rise of the Resistance was over four hours long.
It’s a captive audience being charged $170 a day and $10,000 a week. And there’s no refunds

You know how many actually like it?

Oh do tell

Overseas box office has been updated for Wish through this past weekend now. Wish currently stands at $39 Million from foreign countries, although it doesn't open in its last six major markets until later this month; Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Italy, South Korea and Sweden.

Here's how Wish looks compared to last Thanksgiving's Disney release, Strange World, and the Trolls animated movie that came out 4 days before Wish did this year. Yikes.

The rollout was too extreme! A blink-and-you’d-miss-it lesbian kiss isn’t incremental enough, and a sweet, non-explicit romance between two teenage boys is an outrageous thing to portray in a country where gay marriage has been legal for ten years!

You support the "new story details" just so long as no one actually makes an effort to create them.

What's "lying/outsmarting the bigots," exactly? A last minute reveal? "Ha ha, I was secretly a minority all along!"

1967: "Ok, everyone, I'm excited to be directing Guess Who's Coming to Dinner. We've got a great cast. And just to be sure we really undermine the bigots, Poitier will be wearing a sack over his head until the last scene."

You don’t know that. There have been 12 films so far. That’s a pretty good run.
It was the greatest box office franchise in history…it laid the path for all since. Watch a single director of big budget blockbuster and find one who isn’t on record talking about the impact of Star Wars?
Cameron? ✔️
Peter Jackson ✔️
Spielberg ✔️
Ridley Scott ✔️

That’s what it is…unique

But why can’t they get a director to get on a stage and shoot a single frame of feature film for them now?

Who did that? It wasn’t George.

I think a substantial portion of the population (not a huge portion, but a significant one,) is straight up boycotting Disney and all of their movies at the moment. I’m not saying that’s fair - I don’t think it is - but I think that’s the reality.
And why would a substantial portion of the population boycott Disney and all their movies?

They could get pretty much any director they wanted. Why, they could get Matthew Vaughn, who wants to remake the original trilogy. Which is, after all, what you and other fans want.

One of my favorite things in this thread: "Disney needs to slash budgets enormously! Also, they should get one of the four most famous directors in the world and cast nothing but the very biggest movie stars!"

The rollout was too extreme! A blink-and-you’d-miss-it lesbian kiss isn’t incremental enough, and a sweet, inexplicit romance between two teenage boys is an outrageous thing to portray in a country where gay marriage has been legal for ten years!

Now explain why both of those movies did even worse overseas? Why did more Americans go see Strange World and Lightyear than the 1 Billion other middle class moviegoers overseas?

Why do foreigners dislike these Disney movies so much? Foreigners often double the American box office for Disney's family animated movies they like.

But the foreigners disliked Strange World and Lightyear even more than Americans. Care to explain why?

You’re giving “breath” to a fire of stupidity there…

Politico-nonsense aside…the plot didn’t work for buzz Lightyear…it retconned him…
He wasn’t beloved as a sad, tragic figure and there was about 2 hours of film on that.

Again…it’s the delivery and not understanding the vehicles for DEI…
they screwed up.

You're going to need to go back for rewrites. When Tilly lays into Dr. Prentice in the guest room as he's dressing for dinner, she goes nuclear on him. One of the best scenes in the movie, but it depends on both characters being Black but from different generations.

Also the entire movie from the time John and Joey leave to pick up Mr. and Mrs. Prentice at the airport; the den scenes, the cocktail lounge scene, the terrace scenes, the waiting for Mike and Monsignor Ryan to come downstairs scenes, etc. All require Dr. Prentice to be Black.

Funnier angle would be to put a bag over Hilary's head for all her scenes and have her think Dr. Prentice is white.

Honestly, I think a big part of Disney's strategy is, "let's try to get to December 2024 and pray..."
I gotta agree there

They have NOTHING…the product of terrible results, the strikes, inability to handle stream correctly and gross IP mismanagement…
To say nothing of strategic planning.

It’s atrocious

And people (me thinks a lot here)…wanted to March on burbank with pikes and torches for eisner’s head because of California adventure and treasure planet.

Perspective is a B

Physical sales are down like 90%? From their height…
It’s also what Netflix abandoned

They have to navigate the streaming world…they just aren’t doing it amazingly well.

Maybe there’s no money in that well?
That more than anything explains why they are getting little to no Wall Street Confidence.

Sometimes the obvious answer is the answer
At $10/sub, the current base will bring in $19B in revenue annually.

No…you want to regentrify Star Wars?
You make your sequels with the OT characters the soul and heroes of them…leave no doubt…

And you develop Rey and Finn as new recruits…without messing with the force (by and idiot) and establish a “branch” from the tree…then you do their movies…ahem…where they both kick @$$ and it provides the magnetism that brings all the fans onboard - together. Heroes and villains…it opens the door to the character depth in empire strikes back and YES…return of the Jedi. That’s what stuck to the ribs. Past coulda been prologue.

And you make about $50 bil extra in crap sales.

But they pooched it…almost completely.

1967: "Ok, everyone, I'm excited to be directing Guess Who's Coming to Dinner. We've got a great cast. And just to be sure we really undermine the bigots, Poitier will be wearing a sack over his head until the last scene."
I appreciate your attempt at sarcasm to provide a point of levity/introspection

But frankly it was stupid and didn’t work. Do better.
