'Tremendous loss to America': South Carolina is dumping $105M of Disney investments due to 'structural rot' in the company — Treasurer warns the sane people are now gone.
It was always my thinking that TWDC would not be allowed to fail because of investors like this rely on stable investments to pay pensions etc.As a resident I can say that the Government of South Carolina, by and large, is not the best and brightest.
Not that they shouldn't pull the funds if they honestly think it is a bad investment, I just doubt they did anything more than try and score some cheap political points
Individual state pension funds, especially smaller southern states, aren't Disney's largest shareholders and make up a small part of institutional shareholders. Mutual funds and ETFs from Vanguard, Black Rock, and State Street, are the largest shareholders. So yeah they won't let Disney fail.It was always my thinking that TWDC would not be allowed to fail because of investors like this rely on stable investments to pay pensions etc.
This worries me.
Is anyone surprised by this? Their treasurer, Curtis Loftis, doesn’t like the gays. Shhh. Don’t tell anyone.MoneyWise

FYI, he is around your age, ie in his mid 60s.When I lived in South Carolina in the early 90's, I briefly dated (twice) Charleston's local hunky TV sportscaster whose name rhymed with Sneve Bartlestein. And he knew all the closeted gays in South Carolina politics and society. Unsurprisingly, none of them were related to Strom Thurmond. That's likely a good thing.
Curtis Loftis, whom I've never heard of, was probably only a kid or a teenager back then, so who knows what the point is to that. Perhaps just to remind myself I once dated (twice) a hunky local TV sportscaster?

No, Curtis Loftis the South Carolina Treasurer, he is 65. He was well beyond a teenager in the 90s.He's still around???? I'm a tad older than him. I wasn't a cradle robber, but I always had a good date or three on my arm.
I’m not sure why you keep referring to her this way. Beyoncé is her first name, not her surname.Ms. Beyonce'
Not only that but it would be Mrs as she is married.I’m not sure why you keep referring to her this way. Beyoncé is her first name, not her surname.
Many women choose not adopt “Mrs” upon marriage, though I believe Beyoncé has done so.Not only that but it would be Mrs as she is married.
And besides her name is now a mononym anyways and so doesn't require a prefix at all.
Correct, which is why I said it....Many women choose not adopt “Mrs” upon marriage, though I believe Beyoncé has done so.
Go Toho! Go Studio Ghibli !Updated box office data to the exact dollar was released for this past weekend.
Ms. Beyonce' ended up beating Wish by a hair, with Wish now down in 6th place. The Marvels are now in 12th place.

“girl singers”…….Oh. Like Cher? or Lulu? I had no idea, I thought her surname was Beyonce' but everyone just called her "Beyonce'" without a prefix. Who knew?
I prefer my girl singers to have two full names, to avoid confusion. Lesley Gore. Dusty Springfield. Mary Wells. Etc.
“girl singers”…….
