Disney against adults?

Sigh. As a whole, yes they seem to like the toddler age set a lot. I've actually written about this is other posts. And it's annoying. But come on, it's limited to two locations, was always designed for five year olds, and of all things, using the BBB's age restriction as somehow a sign that Disney is only for kids, when you yourself pointed out it is the only thing you can think of with an age restriction on it... Mean you can go enjoy Casey's Splash with Super Fun Germs if you so choose. Other than BBB, there aren't restrictions on those toddler areas.
Yes, I said offical policies to restrict adults. Seems we both are annoyed with the marketing Disney. What happens when that kid that enjoyed BBB grows up they are no longer allowed to be a kid again in Disney? They can't take thier kid for the first time and dress up together. Getting the guilty feeling of being out of place?

That isn't the Disney I grew up on and is what's driving me away.

I guess we differ that I think its a start for more to come and you think its a one time deal. Time will tell.

I would hope at a certain point they reach the maturity level where they can have fun without needing a costume, cheap hair do (yes it is very simple what they do which is fine for the age group), and tons of glitter?? Are you upset that adults can't wear costumes in Disney?? Sorry, just don't get that. I'd rather have kids be safe. 99 out of 100 times it'd be an adult just having fun. 1 out of 100 times it'd be some creep just wanting to touch little kids. I'd rather not have the policy and keep that 1% from happening... I've worked with kids who have had crap like that happen to them. And it's horrible. So no, adults don't need costumes.

I'd also hope mom (or dad) would have the maturity, yes maturity, to realize they don't have to feel guilty about not getting to play dress up with their kid? I've never ever ever met an adult who has felt that because they couldn't be Minnie... Other than Halloween, I don't need a costume to have fun. Sorry, Id find the adult a little weird if they suddenly start feeling out of place without a costume considering the fad of even kids wearing costumes isnt that old and that the super majority do not ever wear a costume, including kids. That's way way over sensitive. And short sighted, considering again, plenty of other ways to be a kid. Sorry, but I'm finding your phrasing of "not allowed to be a kid" because of this one hypothetical instance quite silly. If they wanted, I guess they could throw a temper tantrum at not getting what they want. That would certainly be kid like. And Casey's is always waiting. Maybe said adult could even hope to get a yeast infection the way a 2 year old would. I'm sorry. I'm teasing. But again, you are telling me one, I mean one age restriction suddenly means telling the adult they can't be kid-like??

At a certain point that grown up kid should realize its ok, you can have fun and be a kid other ways without comprising children's safety as a whole. And let daughter have their own special moment the way they had it as a kid at BBB. It's not a big deal.

I get that Disney has been changing. Check my other posts. I'm certainly not afraid to be critical. But I'm really failing to buy your argument in the case of one restriction on age... Like I said, if it happens more and more, we can revisit this, but until then, you can be that inner child just fine elsewhere than BBB.

I had thought one of the main reasons for the change was money. Since teens and adults can't wear costumes they were potentially losing money on anyone that age with an appointment. They could only sell them the hair or nails options rather than the $100+ options with the costume that they could offer to a kid who was under the age limit for wearing a costume.

Someone already said it. Parents couldn't get reservations for their small children. Is it more important at Disney World for a 4 year old or a 40 year old to have their hair done and get to meet the fairy godmother? Who is going to love it more? Do 40 year old women need a "special moment" in a boutique designed for young children or can they get it elsewhere? Disney offers plenty for adults including a full service spa. That among other reasons. But I really think this one should be sufficient.

Yes. I totally agree.

To be honest, I really thought this thread was a joke when I first read it.

The fairy Godmothers in training are not registered hairstylists or cosmeticians, that could possibly have something to do with the age limit as well. Maybe?

Edit: Cosmeticians! LOL I'm pretty sure they are actually called cosmetologists. Duh!

Ok, so let's not have our hair done and be with our kids and spend our money at BBB. And as many have said, they wouldn't look like that, and my wife does not either, its just to be with kids and do it together,. but why then is it ok to spend money on those ridiculous hats that do draw attention oneself? WDWpromotes that. buy a captain jack sparow hat to look like a pirate,. It's only one thing, and we have moved on, but what is going to be next?

I don't see a problem with this being just for small kids. Personally, I'd feel absolutely ridiculous being in there! There are spas on Disney property that have family packages (Mandara Spa at the Dolphin, for one) if you really want a family spa experience, which I totally understand. I can't wait to do a Mommy and Me day with my girl! Just like there are things in life that are just for adults, there are things in life that are just for children. Skip down Main St. together, devour a chocolate covered candy apple together, get matching Mickey Ears, do silly character pictures together! There are PLENTY of experiences where adults can feel like kids at WDW w/o getting glitter in your hair, I promise.

Also, did anyone else catch the Big Bang Theory episode a few weeks ago where the girls when to DL and got the BBB treatment?

Really, You just said costumes = pedophiles? I bet you hate clowns as well... lol That's taking this thread and conversation out of context. But I didn't say costumes or the orginial thread either. I think everyone in this thread understands that a guest can't wear a costume where they can be mistaken to be a character. They want their hair and makeup from BBB

I think princess crap in general is overrated and is one of the reasons Disney lost its way towards adults. They could get rid of all the princess crap and I would be happy.

He said SOME. Most are probably harmless, but even just ONE creeper is one too many! And he's exactly right. Pedos do go to extensive lengths. There is a reason the adult costume rule is in place Hun!

That is not the reason the costume rule in place. Read my post above.

And this is a female costume, you should be more afraid of the Pirate costume.
