Disney against adults?

Really, You just said costumes = pedophiles? I bet you hate clowns as well... lol That's taking this thread and conversation out of context. But I didn't say costumes or the orginial thread either. I think everyone in this thread understands that a guest can't wear a costume where they can be mistaken to be a character. They want their hair and makeup from BBB

I think princess crap in general is overrated and is one of the reasons Disney lost its way towards adults. They could get rid of all the princess crap and I would be happy.
And you are again really twisting what I said. But firstly, my post was addressing

What happens when that kid that enjoyed BBB grows up they are no longer allowed to be a kid again in Disney? They can't take thier kid for the first time and dress up together. Getting the guilty feeling of being out of place?

You directly spoke about getting dressed up together, or not be allowed to in this hypothetical scenario. Dressed up I took to mean including a costume, because again, I really highly doubt Disney is going to kick someone out for having an up-do without a full blown outfit on. And "dressed up" in the context of BBB pretty much means with costume. And again, plenty of local salons where this can be done. Or parents can watch their kids on BBB. I'd hope they are mature enough to realize yes, let's give all the four year olds a chance before a 40 year old. Lets leave some spots open so parents can get their kids in at the last minute because they didnt realize you have to book a crazy 180 days in advance. Or I guess we can all take that "everything for me and mine but nothing for anyone else" attitude that is so prevalent in this world. Screw those other 4 year olds...

But also to the point, you totally missed my point. I said 99% of the time a person in costume would be just an adult having fun. Nowhere did I say all adults wearing costumes = pedophile. That's ridiculous and also just trying to exaggerate my words to attempt to discredit them. You failed. But please don't be naive to think there isn't that minuscule 1% (or less, whatever) that would want to dress up for the wrong reasons. Like I said, I work with kids every day. It happens and it's tragic and destroys lives.

You seem to think this is the beginning of age restrictions everywhere and no more fun for you. I'm sorry but it's silly. If you can't find a way to have fun and be kid like without the BBB, I just don't know what to tell you. Disney had many wonderful places. You can be a kid just by buying a Mickey Bar and slobbering it all over yourself if you want. If Disney seemed to be making a habit of age restrictions, ok, but so far the evidence stands against you. BBB has been like this for a long while and I haven't exactly seen anything else similar pop into place.

This thread has all the necessary ingredients to be a train wreck.

You don't think the train has wrecked yet?

Back in our 20's (around the time of the Spanish-American War) the wife dressed like Alice for our anniversary one year and like Tinker Bell for Halloween. I have fantastic memories of both events. Disney was definitely for adults on those occasions.

This thread has all the necessary ingredients to be a train wreck.

Life is full of disappointment. Hell, I wake up every morning disappointed that I am not rich, thin, good looking. But I get over it and move on with my day.

Disney says you can't go to BBB if you are over a certain age? So, you are disappointed. I get that. Did they also say you could not do ANYTHING together as a mother/daughter combo? IS this SERIOUSLY the ONLY thing your family can do that can make you happy? As people have stated, go to a spa. Go to the high tea. Better yet - take the money you would have used on this excursion and donate to a worthy charity in the area and then spend the time doing each other's nails and hair. You can buy the glitter, colors, etc at home and bring it with you. And the money you donate will pay it forward and bring happiness to someone else.

The important thing is to be together. Not what you are doing - yea, it might have been fun to go to BBB, but you can't, so find something else.

This morning I head a former coworker passed away from brain cancer. Her son is in his early 20s. You think he wouldn't give anything to spend even 5 more minutes with his mom?

Look at the priorities and not sweat the little things. Not trying to disparage, not trying to belittle, just don't get the angst over not being allowed to go to BBB.
Nicely put. As if just being at Disney World with your family isn't enough, like you said there are any number of activities you can do to get more "girl time" together. Seems odd that not being allowed to go to a kiddie beauty salon could ruin an adult's day. I'd be willing to bet that the young child in the OPs family won't care a lick if mommy and sisters don't look the same as she does. Let her have the moment, treat her like a princess, and you will all have fun.

Ok- in before the lock.;)
I think BBB is designed for little girls. Pirates League was designed for boys, but both genders may enjoy being a pirate. I'm surprised Disney hasn't decided to add princes to the BBB. Disney is a place where all people of all ages can enjoy. The age limit is for a reason. I mean, perhaps during Halloween they could open up slots for adults to dress up in costume, but otherwise remember when they asked those college students to change or leave because they looked too much like the characters PP and Tink? ( They were actually signing autographs!).
There are many options for adults, such as spas, golfing, other types of recreation, DTD, etc...
Mostly though, I am a kid at heart, but I can't see myself getting dressed up like a princess. That's a "little girl's dream". IMHO.;)

What did I do? Holy crap!

I'm sure you're shocked:

"Disney Against Adults?"

"Oh, and this just recently changed within the past year all because of one 17 year old girl who looked too mich like tinkerbell! Ridiculous! Hey, don't take my money for unfulfilled reservations, fine with that. Makes me wonder where the MAGIC has gone. Walt always said, for EVERYONE!!!!!"

OP, may I make a suggestion? Someone else mentioned Afternoon Tea. That is a good idea. It is very quiet and calm there. It's a great place to have a conversation. I've never been to BBB, but I would imagine it's loud. Why can't they still dress up for that and meet you for dinner? (When I say "dress up" I don't mean glitter and sparkles. I mean dressy casual dresses.) It sounds like a nice little tradition start.

When I got my first car gasoline prices were 28 cents per gallon and although I won't reveal how much over 30 pounds since graduations can get too, lets just say a lot. However, when I got sick of cold Decembers I moved south. It's three different examples of situations that one can encounter during this crazy time we will call life all with different degree's of control.
I'm a little younger than you, but when I started driving gas was .19 a gal and we were fussing because it was suppose to go to .25 and eventually to .52. I remember saying that there was no way I'd pay that much for gas :D. I did live in the south which was usually cheaper than other states.

Do you people have any imagination? Disney is a place to forget about everything and be a kid! If that means a mom and her daughters get their hair done than so be it! There should not be any age restrictions. Than say if you did go to the spa your taking the spot of some 60 year. Now they cant get their hair done and nails. Look at it both ways. And if you took your 7 year old to BBB your going to have your other children sit there and watch her get her hair done while they cant. I dont care how old you are thats upseting. Every girl wants to be a princess no matter their age. Thats why they have the disney college program where you ARE the princess and you do meet and greats.

Do you really think the college program is in any way similar to the topic of this thread? Those are young women who are working for the company. BBB is a place for little girls to get dressed up like princesses. Yeah, totally the same thing.

Not going to read through 9 pages. I'm not sorry I'm lazy. But IMHO its first come first serve. Or first reservation anyway. Same as CRT. If it means you have to plan that far in advance then so be it. Most of the adults who visit WDW are children at heart I would think. Or if the demand is so high Disney should build a bigger salon.

Disclaimer: All of this is my opinion

Its to prove my point that people of all ages want to be princess and that anybody of any age should be able to get their hair done...?

I'll betcha that if you went to one of the spa/salons in one of the hotels that they'd be happy to do your hair and nails anyway you wanted, no matter what your age. But I'll also betcha that if you're all dressed up too closely to any of the Princesses that you ain't getting into the parks.

Actually, they don't complain if you reserve a spot at the spa, any more than they complain about preventing kids from going into Victoria & Albert's or Jellyrolls. All age groups have options, but sometimes they're specific to a certain demographic.

Disney World is not a some government social program that guarantees civil liberties. It's a private corporation in business to make money ( reguardless of what Walt intended it to be). So if TDC wants to apply a age limit and they are not breaking any established laws in doing so, then so be it.

So just because we as women would feel like fools walking into BBB and getting one of those makeovers, designed for little girls, we have no imagination? We're no longer kids if we women don't want to dress as little princesses, and feel women shouldn't be allowed to receive BBB makeovers? If I werea princess/Queen, I would NOT wear my hair the way the little girls' hairdo is after BBB. It would be way more stylish than a simple bun with an ugly hairpiece to go with it.

I believe going to Disney and being able to have a good time is enough to be a kid at heart. I know plenty of people who hate Disney and believe it's for kids only. I remember getting into a heated argument with my dad and him telling me I needed to "get out of my fantasy world with Mickey". That's another conversation, but my point is all of us here on his forum are children at heart. Sometimes things need to be reserved for the kids. If grown women want to feel like a Disney princess and dress up as one, that's what the Halloween parties and the D23 Expo are for.
