Disney After Hours Event

I just purchased tickets for Disney After Hours on 4/28 for $317.38 for 2 people. The even is 10pm - 1am at Magic Kingdom.

I'm really not sure if that's going to be "worth it" during April when crowds are limited, but I was too curious not to try it, so I just got it. I plan to be there most of the day as well.

If you've followed me, you know I predicted this exact kind of thing over a year ago when I said Disney will try to target people who value lower crowds, shorter lines, and a less "hectic" theme park experience. I think this is just the first step in demand based pricing, more special ticket pricing, and more price increases.

I will report back with results because I can't find any information as to how many tickets they are selling. I have read 3,000 tickets for the Magic Kingdom, but can't confirm this anywhere. Anyone know? Disney just says they are "limited" but I hope it's significantly more limited than the Halloween or Christmas parties.
Let us know how it goes. I do hope this doesnt do well and goes away as fast as Epcot after hours did.

Can't wait to hear how it goes...and good for you for giving it a try. For all the negative posts, we enjoyed Villains Unleashed ...lines for the rides were really short!!

Or the "sorry we didn't build enough attractions to handle capacity in the parks, please spend more money to come when we used to let everyone in anyway" approach.

Gotta pay for those Magicbands....
Can't say I disagree, but here we are. I am looking forward to seeing actual capacity.

I am doing this more out of curiosity than necessity. I'm sure with my 8 day Park Hopper, I'd have plenty of time without it. I just can't pass it up. If it's truly ~3,000 people, I might really enjoy something like this. I do think 10pm - 1am is a little limited.

I can't remember where I read it, but I thought I saw someone say it would be closer to 8k capacity. Either way, it's a waste of money in my opinion, but to each their own.

I think 8k might be pushing it. I'd like to know how many are allowed into the Halloween Party because I frankly thought that was too crowded.

Honestly if this is still going on when we go for our next trip I would think about it for the day we arrive. Ends up being a half day ticket, but with very short lines, get all of heavy hitters taken care of while still fresh and then relax the rest of the trip.

Except you know very well that crowd dynamics don't work that way, especially at the Magic Kingdom. You say "build more attractions to handle capacity." I counter "more attractions draw more guests and make capacity an even bigger issue."

There's a multiplier effect on capacity growth at the Magic Kingdom. For every new guest of capacity they accommodate with a new offering, some incremental number > 1 guest shows up to experience that offering.

ETA: The "answer" to this problem is exactly what they're doing (though probably too slowly). Frozen, Star Wars, Avatar, Rivers of Light. Draw guests out of the Magic Kingdom.

Part of the reason the parties feel so crowded is that most guests are skipping the rides and the people that would otherwise be in those queues, vehices etc are out on the parade route or hub all night or wandering around looking for candy and meet 'n greets.

This will be different. People are specifically going for the rides.
