Disney After Hours Event

It's not on the Parks Blog, maybe someone leaked the official site?

As for bigger roll out, Could MK be planning entertainment for this?
Maybe Friendship Farie, FOF or different Parade, or the Fireworks that MK did for DVC 25 or a new show?
If they were, wouldnt its page mention something like: "includes a special event, more information coming soon!" ?

I'm pretty sure Disney is Catering to a much higher end crowd that wouldn't mind paying that in order to be in an empty park.

Are you referring to the same crowd that was willing to pay "challenged" individuals to become part of their family for a day so that they could use front-of-the-line passes? Not sure which would be cheaper.

My trip falls into this time frame, most people are planners, heck Disney has encouraged us to be with FP+, not to mention changing dining reservations, if you are willing to pay for it. What is the point of announcing something so close to the dates available with so little details? For instance, MNSSHP or MVMCP, I base all my plans and dining around the party. If I would pay it, which I won't, it would not be worth it to try and replan my trip 40 something days out?

Disney's arm was not bent behind their backs to release any information. Anything "leaked" is simply rumor until they say otherwise. The fact that they put this out on their blog like this tells me they were prepared.

Maybe they were worried about the negative response to the leak?

I mean people were expecting booze and a full meal at that price point. Best to get out in front and manage expectations.

E-ride nights were awesome and ran at the most, $12.00 per person. $149.00 per person for three extra hours in the parks? I don't think so Tim. Disney has lost it's collective mind to greed.

I suppose one could look at this as night-time party to attend without having to purchase a regular day ticket. Either 6 or 7 hours with 7pm entry - 1am or 7pm entry - 2am, depending on the night. Okay, fine. But why spend $150 for 6 or 7 hours in the spring when you can spend $62-$75 for MNSSHP or MVMCP from 4pm - Midnight (8 hours). WAY overpriced.
I would expect those party prices to increase closer to $100 this year.

There are a lot who are in full support of this. Most use the argument that the lines are too long that they will gladly pay the extra just to get things done, one even using the argument that "fastpass lines are 30 minutes sometimes". The problem is that these lines are largely in part to a system that Disney themselves put into place (and its going to get a LOT worse sooner than you think).

I fear that the removal of the FP options for Wishes are going to somehow be intertwined with this event.

My concern is what the military refer to as "mission creep". As @wdwmagic said, the 7% on this board who responded in favor of this idea, extrapolated out to the general Disney population, means sell out land for Disney. So what's next then? We are probably already getting $15 per night resort fees and premium paid parking. So 3 years down the road, if you want to visit the MK after dark, you will have to PAY for it? Granted, that's the extreme, but there is probably someone in Glendale who thinks it would be an excellent idea...
