Disney After Hours BOO BASH

True, but the holiday costume character cavalcades aren't something they normally do, so that was a bonus last year for the people who went to the parks. It's not like they're taking away something they typically offered in the past just so they can charge for it this year.
No they don't normally do them. It would be different if they were offering more then what they did last year. They really aren't other then free candy. There is no fireworks, not much entertainment offered. It makes no sense to charge for something that was included last year.

What exactly did they do last year at the height of strict COVID protocols?

They had Halloween cavalcades throughout the day. Well, day guests do get cavalcades throughout the day still, just not the Halloween-themed ones.

Dapper Dans. Same.

Free trick-or-treat candy... I can't find where they did that last year.

Limited attendance... no. Not last year. They were bumping 25% to 35% for attendance.

Last year was just normal daily operations with Halloween themes on some things. It was not a limited attendance After Hours event with free candy.

You're paying for limited attendance, just like every other After Hours event... which was not the case last year.

I suspect there will be Halloween cavalcades throughout the day this year as well....just too early to say with any certainty.

If they merge the MNSSHP with the DAH and create this BOO Bash thing, I hope it ends up with the low attendance/capacity of the DAH. The parties had gotten so busy there just wasn't much value in them anymore.

Hopes here are the Bash is the old DAH with the "freebees" being reduced to candy, ceteris paribus....one man's dream

There's no merging of the Party Night and the After Hours event. They are very different creatures. Two years ago, there were After Hours Events in between the Party Nights!

Also different from last year in which there was neither an After Hours nor Party Night... just decorations and cavalcades for day guests -- who only had the park until 6 PM most nights in October (8p on weekends).

They just share certain Halloweenish things... and not much at that. Some of which is available during the day for day-ticket guests like the decorations and select merch and specialty food items.

I suppose in place of Mickey Bars, there's the candy.

This is more like the Disney Villains After Hours event that happened in the Winter before the pandemic. That is: After Hours with some light entertainment.

In normal times that is what happens. I still maintain that this DAH is a paid version of what you got with you park admission last year. I wouldn't be so critical of it if they added more to it, like fireworks or entertainment. Instead the only benefit is possibly lighter crowds but with only 3 hours it isn't that great.

Yes

you don’t recall your kind words/comments when I reported enjoying the Parties back in ‘19?

It’s tough to recollect just how bad it had gotten as far as the never ending crowds....the After Hours were the only way to go and not have to wait in line....

You might recall we were comped tickets for the 2nd ever Party as no one was going...many guests at Pop (seems like The Boardwalk too?) were given tics

**edit** Above response was sent from my Mobile......and it didn't differentiate/show the bolded.

In response to the bold, if you are saying TDO did make bank, I'd say TDO had the opportunity to FURTHER cash in on the New Land and could have charged a supreme premium for an After Hours post opening said New Land. Certainly wasn't suggesting TDO didn't capitalize......just they could have went further..

lol...I just meant your Star Wars stance 🤪

Capacity is far lower than the parties.

No doubt, but what was the capacity? And did ANY party EVER sell out?

The simple question would be is the capacity of a party enough to be crowded if it sells out? If yes. the main benefit of the party disappears.....

nope...it was $130 for 3 hours of the same rides and popcorn...

people have some Rosie glasses these days

Hopes are it will have the DAH attendance (or lack there of) .....bit concerned it will be the only game in town and thus demand might be a bit higher

A few of the After Hours DID sell out...a few, not many

And you failed to mention the bargain basement price of $95 for APs and DVC members.... not even $32 an hour

Only needed to consume 2 bottles and 3 bars per hour before you were down to pennies for the privilege

You got booted out of the parks at 6 PM last year.

You got no special time with a reduced capacity like one gets with After Hours. You didn't get three hours of nearly walk-on access to rides. You absolutely did not get a free version of Disney After Hours.

You got no special parades or fireworks or stage shows like you get with a party night. You got no trick-or-treating.

The only thing you got was the Halloween themed cavalcades in place of the regular cavalcades. During the day. The park closed before nightfall.

It was a one-time pandemic bone thrown to people who showed up.

It's completely different.

I forgot the Parks closed so early last year......

If they conduct the Bash in the same manner as Fall/Winter '19s DAH, they'll begin boot peeps at 8:00 to make sure only those with wrist bands remain at 9:00 (or 9:30 for the later starts).

That is the big question for me. If it is really low capacity to the point all the open rides are basically walk ons and then add in some rare characters for socially distant meets, the themed cavalcades, candy trails (again, if super low capacity should get through those quickly), add in some special merch and a few extras and I think it could be worth it ...

... If this is like close to normal party crowds, long lines for what is offered, etc - then I will be bummed and not participate

Right on!

We'll definitely give it a shot...at least once to test

The lack of lines is our draw.....we didn't even stop for an ice cream or water if the line was more than 3 deep.

Maybe, and again maybe, if there is moderate crowds, any cavalcade will draw enough people to keep lines short.

We generally hit the lesser rides for the first hour, then hit Peter Pan, SDMT and the rest of the Mountains midway or later.....seemed to be the best way to maximize rides riden...

I’m sure this will be the “new normal” when it inevitably sells out.

It will be interesting to see how this evolves in the long term.

My guess is separate ticket events will be like Epcot festivals. You will get an increasing variety offered on more days of the year and at more parks.

MNSSHP and MVMCP are permanent traditions, this year notwithstanding. (Because of the 50th) Though they may surprise me and run a few this year.
