Disney After Hours BOO BASH

I wonder if disney is looking at having more paid after hours events (maybe every night) rather than being scattered and having to close the park down early on those days. Might make more sense in the long run then if they want to add a Halloween or Christmas tag onto the normal fireworks show or even Halloween or Christmas floats during the day they could.

I would like to believe the Covid reasoning but when other parks are offering fireworks, night time shows and regular Halloween events it's hard to believe Covid is the reason. At some point Covid can longer be the excuse.

People will accept this for now. Because they understand the constraints imposed by Covid. But long term, I don't think so.
I'm amazed so many are accepting of this. Last year I would buy Covid as a reason but it's hard to now when other parks have been doing nighttime shows for awhile now. Their competition is doing the regular Halloween Horror Nights.

That is the big question for me. If it is really low capacity to the point all the open rides are basically walk ons and then add in some rare characters for socially distant meets, the themed cavalcades, candy trails (again, if super low capacity should get through those quickly), add in some special merch and a few extras and I think it could be worth it ...

... If this is like close to normal party crowds, long lines for what is offered, etc - then I will be bummed and not participate
Max...

you seem like a logical kinda guy. I like you 👍🏻

It’s the frog in boiling water. People will be trained to accept this now and it becomes the status quo. I understand lots of Disney fans on this board won’t buy into it (though many will), but the general public has proven itself willing to pay whatever the asking price is to be at Disney World for a Halloween event.

But your last sentence is kind of the catch, no?

For the most part, people commit to these events without really knowing how high crowds will be. WDW doesn't give refunds, or promise Space Mt wait will be under 20 min.

On one hand, if people want to pay for this, that's their right.

On the other, Halloween in early August is just weird. Halloween decorations up all day in MK in early August is a sorry state of affairs, IMO.

On second thought, maybe it IS in a small way a step towards post-pandemic normalcy?

You got booted out of the parks at 6 PM last year.

You got no special time with a reduced capacity like one gets with After Hours. You didn't get three hours of nearly walk-on access to rides. You absolutely did not get a free version of Disney After Hours.

You got no special parades or fireworks or stage shows like you get with a party night. You got no trick-or-treating.

The only thing you got was the Halloween themed cavalcades in place of the regular cavalcades. During the day. The park closed before nightfall.

It was a one-time pandemic bone thrown to people who showed up.

It's completely different.
MK was opened to 9PM on Saturdays in October and 8PM Friday and Sunday.

Here is an example of how to add value to a ticketed event. In this instance every guest would receive a "fastpass" to the attraction of their choice. The magic is that you can use it or save it for another day. (Regular park hours) Standby queues would also be open for repeat rides during the 3 hour event.

Everyone's a winner! 🎫🎫🎫🎫

This would guarantee everyone gets to ride the mine trains without using half of your time waiting in a queue. Value added.

Plus the ice cream and popcorn are nice.

That makes a lot of sense, but how will we know which of those two options it will be until it starts? And at what point will it be too late because the less critical just pay the money and go?

They said more info will come out next month so hopefully that clarifies things. So far they are definitely positioning this like an after hours event with super low capacity, etc.

But, yeah, if one wants to guy they will have to buy the tickets with no assurance that is how it will operate in reality (that is, what the capacity will really be)

they do not...you are correct. This is a dream scenario for Disney on the street. Milking pent up demand to push prices even higher than expected while reducing ops cost.

but it’s not a Disney thing...consumer prices are going to rise dramatically over the coming months...really good jobs report is actually being released in an hour...

so last year it was: “we can’t get the stuff...you’ll have to pay”
This year it’s: “woah...you want stuff? Gonna have to pay!”

In other news: water is wet
So much for that really good jobs report....
