Ive said it before...I'll say it again. Who wants to bet the next acquisition is Hasbro?
Disney owning Dungeons and Dragons. Now that would be something I don't think I'd ever live to see.

It's weird enough that Hasbro owns it.Disney owning Dungeons and Dragons. Now that would be something I don't think I'd ever live to see.
Ummmm no...they will get there money back from movies and tv. They may do (or not do) some things in the park that make you scratch your head, but Star Wars alone will cover these acquisitions and honestly even if the movie is terrible like crystal skull I'm still going to see Indy just out of curiosity as I'm sure millions of others would as well(idc if HF has to use a walker I'm watching haha)Disney is going to buy it's way into bankruptcy.
Agree 100% well said! It's not analogous at all. Patent trolls preemptively patent something with no intent on doing anything with it except try to cash in on people who's hard work bears even the slightly resemblance to the patented idea.
Meanwhile, since the Lucasfilm buy, Disney has already announced two projects in development- Episode VII and the Star Wars: Rebels animated series. For Marvel, there's obviously the live-action films, several animated series, guest spots on Phineas & Ferb, AND Marvel's Big Hero 6 is going to be the 54th animated feature from Walt Disney Animated Studios. And the deal with Paramount covers future movies; as of right now, it doesn't appear that Disney is getting anything from the previous movies, like if Paramount were to release a new collector's box set.
To say that Disney is buying properties to merely cash in on previous work is grossly inaccurate.
Not if what they buy is making money
Perhaps I should include a in my more sarcastic/joking posts from now on.Ummmm no...they will get there money back from movies and tv. I'm pretty new to this site and can't believe how much people doubt Disney soooo I have started assuming everyone is serious lol hence my username I trust them probably to a fault :/Perhaps I should include a in my more sarcastic/joking posts from now on.
It's fine.I'm pretty new to this site and can't believe how much people doubt Disney soooo I have started assuming everyone is serious lol hence my username I trust them probably to a fault :/
Then they're stupid. What if Disney was buying up rights to intellectual property to keep it away from universal? :0
Marvel's the only example of such a purchase. Pixar and Lucasfilm were basically putting rings on relationships that were already there. What if Disney was buying up rights to intellectual property to keep it away from universal? :0
Boo to you! This is great news that can prove very relative to the parks in the near future!Again, this is not news and has nothing to do with the parks. Disney bought the IP when they bought Lucasfilm and have had the theme park rights for decades.
It certainly does! It means they have the rights to make attractions based on future films without Paramount's involvement! They already owned Indiana Jones; this purchase just got them the ability to distribute new films without Paramount's involvement. This has absolutely nothing to do with the parks.
It does.Pretty sure this title goes to the Golden Horseshoe Revue at Disneyland.
Why is Avatar special? Never be so certain of anything. They've only just announced their first Marvel attraction. They've yet to act on Star Wars. Why would Indiana Jones be special?
Or if bankruptcy is on sale. Or if they wait until Black Friday next year and go bankrupt for a 60% discount, they can turn around and make a 40% profit, and possibly use that savings to build an Indiana Jones E-ticket ride a DHS!Not if what they buy is making money
I LOVE this guy! You are right for the warning! If they DO make an other Indiana Jones, Harrison Ford should not play the character.

It will be Avatar, no doubt. He already started the process with the theme park rights.I am sure Iger will buy more IP before he leaves but what next? and i think all that is going to happen with Indy is probs just going to get an animated TV show!
If Ford wants to do another film I think Disney is willing to sacrifice Indiana Jones for Star Wars.If they DO make an other Indiana Jones, Harrison Ford should not play the character.
