Disney acquires rights to 'Indiana Jones' Franchise. The implications for WDW?

As for what this means for WDW? Who knows, but for TDO, I'd imagine just more merch they can sell.

Yup. Some merch, maybe a light refresh (that's 10 years late already) to the very aged stunt show at DHS.

Indiana Jones Adventure, the ride that set the bar higher for E Tickets, is closing in on its 20th anniversary in '15. And it just had a big rehab that plussed it up with new digital mapping effects, new animatronics, new audio and gizmos, etc. It's still a super popular ride at Disneyland, which is a park that has 4 extra E Tickets compared to Magic Kingdom Park.

Indiana Jones Adventure was such a hit for Disneyland in '95 that they cloned it (with a few changes, mainly in the queue) and added it to Tokyo Disneyland Resort in '01. And it's still going like gangbusters in Tokyo.

Meanwhile, in Orlando.... Order up another batch of Indiana Jones t-shirts, TDO! You've got a new IP to plug!

Pretty sure this title goes to the Golden Horseshoe Revue at Disneyland.

Yes, it does.

Golden Horseshoe Revue, Disneyland USA
July 17th, 1955 to October 12th, 1986
31 Years, 2 Months, and 25 Days
The Longest Running Show in Disney Theme Park History, Starring Wally Boag and Betty Taylor throughout the run

Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, Disney's Hollywood Studios
August 25th, 1989 to Current Day
24 Years, 3 Months, and 12 Days (and counting!)

The Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular will need to perform until late October in the year 2020 in order to unseat the Golden Horseshoe Revue from it's throne as the longest running show in Disney theme park history. Somehow, given the history of updating stage shows at DHS, I don't think this will be a problem for TDO. But we've got seven more years until we get there.

As long as this is not an excuse to keep the Indy show still going at the studios for another 15 years...Don't get me wrong, I loved it back in the day, but I was really looking forward to something new in that space to revitalize that park. Please don't let this change anything in the eyes of park development....

The Indy ride at DL is quite amazing. Great fun! I don't think it's very similar to Dinosaur despite similar technology. Would love to see it come to WDW (or a different Indy version of it), but it probably will not.

What is it with everyone wanting Indy in DAK? NO!
If it goes in to any park in WDW, it better either be DHS or MK. DAK is an ANIMAL theme park. What does Indy have to do with animals? He's an archaeologist who hates snakes. That's it. No DAK for you Dr Jones!

What if the next film is called Indiana Jones and Lost Continent and the plot is Indy finds the bones of a dragon. Hell include it. if we get that awesome tune in another park.

Ah, okay. Still, a near quarter of a century is nothing to sneeze, especially considering it's still pretty packed every time I go despite being so unchanged that you can set your watch to it.

Thor 2 ran out of steam pretty quickly.
Only in the USA. It's still bringing in money overseas it's made ~180 million more then the first film. The foreign market is 68% of the money coming in. Yes it ran out of steam here but never underestimate foreign market

Before Wreck-It Ralph and Tangled (and presumably Frozen, given how it's done so far) knocked it down, Tarzan was the third highest grossing Disney animated feature* behind Lion King and Aladdin, and the majority of that came from the international markets.

*Not counting Pixar and not adjusting for inflation

I could see them do it too. Out with the forgotten Dinosaur movie, to turn Dinoland into IJ land, with Pixar dino thrown in for good measure. DAK as the fourth Disney movie park.

This on top of the Lion King expansion of Africa all the way to Avatarland. (You read it here first)

Amazing that nobody picked up on this. Very cool news from the Empress. Thank you Miss Lilly!

Although I understand why some LaLa-landers choose to ignore what is happening in O-Town. But then it is all about fantasy, make-believe, magical high speed jetson trains and the Lakers winning the 2014 NBA championship out there (way out there).

They do seems to have more then enough IP's, The hard part seems to be getting Iger and his bean counters to commit to WDW major attractions.
