I am just passing this along from Mousesaver's for all those who might be going to the world this winter......

"A little bird tells me a special discounted Walt Disney World vacation package for late October through Christmas is coming very soon -- keep checking back!"

Keep your eyes peeled!

Anyone have any info that could shed light on this rumor? Von Drake? Pam? Mickey?

I don't know.

It would be like late October, then skip the week of Thanksgiving, then stop the week before Christmas, if it was true. And there is a PIN offer for those times already, maybe the "little bird" got wind of that and was confused?

Or maybe bookings aren't as good as Disney wants for that time frame so they're going to throw out a special to try and get bookings up.

Either way I won't get to take advantage of it (boohoo).

Im sure that Pam is aware of this and I have no doubt JPVon Drake is also very much in the know. However due to confidentiality, until the specials are released to the public, anyone with any previous knowledge such as Pam or CRO are expressly forbidden to release this information. I am almost positive that a breach of that confidence would lead to termination in a CM!! I would think that if there are too many "little birds" it may seriously impact Disney's desire to provide discounts!!! As per usual if there is a discount available, when it does become available I Am sure that Pam will post it immediately!!! Belle

I completely understand that but didn't Pam used to post hints that something was coming out? Sometimes even before Mousesavers. Has something changed? I always checked this site for rumors about discounts. I guess you can say she used to be one of those "little birdies" :D

This is being kept really hush, hush. Usually, there are little tidbits out there, but the only things I have seen are that it is LIKELY not free dining and LIKELY not a 7 for 5 deal. That's all I've seen from the TA's out there on the boards. We'll just have to wait and see I guess! Of course, I booked Best Rate so any discount would have to be huge for me to give up my deposit.

Also remember the wording seemed to indicate a package type of thing, not a room only, although that is only speculation on my part. Belle

I just wanted to let you know that yes..I did hear a rumor. And I cannot mention anything about any discounts, special pkgs, etc. until the day they are released. As a TA, Disney does watch what I say on here and I don't need them getting mad at me. Been there, done that. I will post when it gets released and not a moment before. That is if/when something comes out. :lookaroun

Some info I was told

I talked to an agent at Central Reservatinos today and was told by them that their will be no discount and take what was said on Mousesavers with a grain of salt. She said there is barely any availability at Disney World for November and December.

They were told that an email will be going out in a few days advertising Disney World packages but it won't be a special discoutned rate.

Just thought I would post what I heard.

This would be great, we're hoping to go in the beginning of December but funds will be tight.

What's the best way to find out about something as soon as they release it?

There is an ad in the Phila Inquirer for 7 days/6 nights, inc. 'select tickets' at a value resort for less than $1500. There is also a "CST#" at the bottom of the ad. The dates are for 11/1 to 12/19.

This can't be what they are talking about, can it??

Just noticed something though..........the ad states: "Magical Holdiays in Disney Theme Parks beginning Nov. 14"

HMMMMMMMMMMM!

I don't think so. That sounds like the ad they have had on tv where you can stay at Disney at a Value resort with a base ticket for less than $1,500

Forgive my noob-ish-ness....but when you say to stay tuned here, do you mean this specific thread? Or will Pam start a new thread with the information?
Don't mean to be uppity about it, but this sounds like something that could make or break our trip.

Thanks!

no Problem on the Noob thing!!! Id imagine that Pam will start a new thread dedicated specifically to the discount. That is what has always been done in the past. Belle

waiting watching wondering

I decided to number crunch yet again to see what might be a better deal for us with all the rumored possible discounts that might be happening soon during the time of our stay. Boy, am I tired. lol

We currently have a AAA discount on a king room at CSR for $119/nite + tax for 6 nights. We have a food budget of $600 for the two of us, which is about $75 more than we need, but I always like to over budget that by just a little just in case.

So, I took our dining itinerary and went over the menus with my honey and added in taxes, tips, snacks, extra fluids, and anything else that I could think of. We will need roughly $526 dollars to pay for everything out of pocket. The MYW dining plan would cost us $420 (I have not factored the tax on the $420 into all of this) during our stay and we would be left with $128 out of pocket, which math says is actually $2 more expensive than paying totally out of pocket. Also, my meals were planned with additional items that we most likely would not have gotten if I was not budgeting for the MYW dining with the appetizers and desserts being covered. I don't think that I could eat that many desserts in a week.

So, right now, we have to buy our AAA membership for $60 and we are saving $180 on the room, so we really are only saving $120. With paying out of pocket for our food, it will be at the least $2 cheaper than the MYW dining plan, but most likely more like $50 cheaper, when we altered the menu to follow our normal diet.

By changing to a package deal from a room only booking, we would lose our ADR's and have to start over. I really don't want that hassle. We would also have to pay the balance of the package by mid-October. I would prefer to wait until check in to pay it all off.

So, this rumored deal is going to have to be free dining or a doozy of a deal for us to change what we already have. Has anyone else broken it all down or am I the only insane one? Maggie
