Let's save pages and pages of threads: "We" criticize WDW because "we really, really love it".

You know, sorta like that by telling your wife that she's getting fat will get her to go to the gym.

Totally not the same thing at all, and you know it.

My dance teacher was constantly hard on us. If she hated our performance she would literally say, quote on quote, "That was nasty, do it again"! She told us all the truth and she was blunt. We'd get a "What was that?, you don't know what you're doing, do it again, that was horrible, etc..." She held us accountable and we were punished with thousand count straddles, a thousand sit ups, jumping jacks, laps, you name it. Well, by the time we got to this one dance competition, not only did we take first place in our routine, but the judges liked our dance the most out of maybe one hundred routines they had seen, and they gave us an award and asked us to perform the routine again in front of the audience and the rest of the teams there.

Was my dance teacher hard on us because she secretly hated us? NO. She was hard on us because she knew our potential, wanted us to get better and wanted us to succeed. The same thing is going on with the loyal WDW fans here in this site. That comparison you gave was BS.

Personally, I never booked a trip, spent that kind of time planning, scrimped & saved all that money, then spent our precious time away from "life" with the intent to go to WDW for the purpose if being disappointed or annoyed. I'd say being there and finding myself disappointed in the state of things and some pretty lack-luster experiences probably made the slap in the face sting that much more. That's just me, tho. I, for one, am glad to know I'm not the only one who noticed the things I did or had the kind of disappointments I did. If I have pretty bad experiences would I not be doing my fellow consumers a disservice if I didn't share that? How many times have I gone to purchase a product and searched for recent reviews online? Now that I'm traveling more places than just WDW, the plethora of reviews and info I find thru various searches is absolutely integral to my planning. Just sayin'.

As far as WDW, I'll always have a special place in my heart for the place. Been going there my whole life. I love it dearly. Would I dedicate a family vacation there right now? Nope. Would I recommend it to my family & friends? No.

It's kind of like being a parent. I love my kids with all that I am. Truly. When they do something hair-brained or half- something I don't instantly hate their villainous evil souls. No, they're still my babies and I love them no different. I am, however, disappointed. Aggravated. Have a strong urge to kick 'em square in the backside. Want to know WTH is going on in those insane brains. And, yep, they know when they've fallen short. If I say nothing how will they know they missed the mark?

There are several posters who will post from right inside WDW the moment something goes wrong, and then we get a long thread about how much Disney is falling apart. It is interesting that we rarely hear from those who are in WDW having a great time with their family and friends. Why is that?

This is my recent visit where I posted 10+times a day about how great everything was... :) not all are negative...

dear lord ppl.. all MarkndAmy was saying that it's depressing logging on here, looking forward to his/her vacation and seeing nothing but negative things posted on here. I don't see that as complaing. it is depressing to look forward to something and have ppl pop ur bubble. yes, they are allowed to be all OMGOMGOMG DDJFKRC IM IN DISNEY! because quite frankly that's the state of mind u should be in while there. it's supposed to be magical and more about the feeling of just being there versus what's wrong with the rides.

sounds like some of u need to remember what it's like being a kid. have a cookie or something and cheer up

EXACTLY!

Oh for Pete's sake. Is this what is called a "personal anecdote"? Sorry, but as I have "learned" from other posters here, "personal anecdotes" are not "allowed" when trying to make a point about WDW.

Disney execs are not going to do "thousand count straddles" until the Yeti is fixed. Your comparison is "BS".

If you've only known WDW for ten years, great. You'll love it.

If you've known it for 15 years, great. You'll love it but remember more.

If you've known it for 25 years, great. You'll still love it but remember things were different.

Some care, some don't care. Those who are passionate about something are passionate in their defence of it.

Excellent. If you and your extended family and friends aren't there, it's might result in somewhat shorter lines for us.
Or, it might make room for more Brazilians. Oh well, half-full, half-empty. It's the way of the world, including WDW.

And there's nothing wrong with someone being a passionate advocate for what they see as areas of improvement in the parks, regardless of the forum. Which is part and parcel why Steve started this site, and it's popularity....

This morning I am continuing what has become a Saturday morning ritual for me: enjoy breakfast and read through some of the posts on WDWMagic. However, if what I've been reading today is taken as fact, then I should seriously consider canceling my trip to WDW in August.

So far this morning, I've learned:
1. The new TT is awful and is not an upgrade over the old.
2. FLE is nothing more than a couple of things to look at and a restaurant.
3. I should never ride EUE because it will put me to sleep.
4. EE is a waste of time because the Yeti is still broken.
5. DHS should be boycotted because they haven't replaced the Backlot Tour yet.
6. I should go to Universal instead.
Need I go on?

Despite all of the haters...
I'm not sure that phrases like that will help make things more positive. When people are insulted, it...well, it doesn't help the cause of Peace & Harmony, lol.

There are always going to be folks that will compain whether it be the candy wrapper on the ground or the ride that has a technical problem. Frankly I rarely notice those things, and in all the years we've been coming dwell on the magic that IS Disney World. Things like its cleanliness, beautiful flower gardens and helpful and kind CMs.
Tell ya what, when you consider the traffic at WDW every single day of the year, it is kept pretty darn clean.

I consider it "critiquing" as opposed to complaining. There's a major difference. For instance, if someone says a ride is not as good as its predecessor and give a long thought out list for why, A complainer is someone who is like, "I saw some peeling paint in the queue line, THIS RIDE SUCKS! It's nowhere near as good as the original.

I recommend that you actually listen to what some of the people more critical. You can agree with them or not. It's better than just ignoring them and writing them off as "complainers."

Perhaps "MarkandAmy" don't appreciate people giving the impression that just maybe they are wasting how ever many thousands of dollars they are planning on spending in August.
