DINOSAUR Refurb?

I don't want this to turn too much into disney vs uni, but I have to disagree with the animatronics are similar. Dinosaurs are way more realistic and even the molds are more realistic even with lights on and moving past slowly. Although Disney is known for there AA figures I suppose. I hope they one day upgrade the Dino's on JP!

Well, if Jurassic World becomes successful I'm sure that will be the next revamp at IoA and hopefully will conside to reworking the ride to bring Diabouls Rex in.....

Hopefully! I'm a huge Jurassic Park fan, seeing as I love dinosaurs, so if they could revamp the ride correctly, I would be all for it!

Out of curiosity, since I haven't been back to wdw in quite some time, what all isn't working on this ride?

And as a side question, what should be added/changed to improve the ride in the event of a decent refurb?

There is a lot that I would like to see done:
-laser effects/ or substitute put in for capturing iguanodon

-dinosaurs get full motion put in and repainted

-audio and lighting tweaked in places
-compognathus leap across track
-ceradactyl swooping put back

-saultosaurus to stop making mechanical noises as you are next to it

-meteor effect and pyro put back in.

I mean the list could be more detailed but it's a start. I would also be happy if the ride just updated the dinosaurs really. They are what makes the ride great and in full working condition, it makes this ride hard to top in terms of a real thrill, that's not a rollercoaster!

The Hollywood version is far superior in almost every respect. Surprisingly.
But don't forget that their T-Rex suffers from, "Floating Dino Syndrome". Mechanical arm holding everything up is seen and the feet float in the air. Both Rex's have flaws. Orlando has flabby neck and jerky movements, and Hollywood has limited height and mechanics everywhere.

When I went in 1999 and rode Countdown to Extinction, I loved the ride. That being said, I heard the ride got dulled down for Dinosaur, so I'm not as optimistic for my trip in January. The biggest problem I see is that a lot of people are hoping for Dinosaur and EE refurbs after Avatar. Both may need refurbs (from what I hear) but you can definitely not close both at the same time.

Just turn the volume of the ride and effects back up!!!

Suit: "Welllp, guys. We've been allotted one billion dollars to put towards park improvements. Any ideas of what we should tackle first?"

Underling 1: "Oh goody! I suggest we fix the Yeti at Everest and then start planning to replace the track at Space Mountain."

Underling 2: "No wait...BETTER idea....just go with me on this....MAGIC BANDS."

Pretty sure this ride hasn't had a good refurb since it closed to change its name to Dinosaur, which was back in 2000. Not exactly sure on this though!

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that when they changed the name, nothing inside the ride actually changed.
They didn't even have to take it offline.

Any changes to the ride profile or effects are due to effect after effect gradually breaking and not getting fixed, not because of any intentional taming down.

You could be right, but I do think the sound has been toned down. Some people say the motion of the vehicle has been toned down, and some say it was actually turned up. I really have no proof either way.

Aside from obviously fixing the broken effects...does anyone else think it might be a good idea to update that Raptor animatronic? You know, that one near the beginning of the ride.

EDIT: Found better image

As we may know, since the opening of Animal Kingdom, scientists discovered that dromeosaurs all featured feathers and such. I don't think it's a major issue, but I've noticed one of the bigger controversies with the upcoming Jurassic World is the dinosaurs not having feathers.

Since adding feathers to the animatronic would be unlikely to save Disney money, the odds of their doing this are roughly zero.

I find the whole Dinosaur attraction to be very stylized, in a sense the they create unique looks to the dinosaurs. Adding feather to the velociraptor might make him look more accurate, but without them I feel like they look more intense where you can see the skin move better. If they didn't push the size of the Carnotaurus, the ride wouldn't be half as thrilling.

Hey, at least they have a more accurate size for a Velociraptor. jurassic Park try's to pass a Utah Raptor for a Velociraptor. But it makes for a better scare!
