Did all Disney has to offer...without the parks

I've been pretty non-committal on this issue, but where do you draw the line on "theft of services"?

Is it really even our place to decide what constitutes "fair use" and what constitutes "theft of services"?

I think until Disney decides to press charges on someone then we will never know how far they can be pushed.

Technically speaking, I think that once it's posted(like no trespassing signs), then it becomes a legal matter.

Like I've said, I don't condone his actions, but some folks are acting like he's a third strike felon. Personally, I think they need to put up scanners at all of the pools.

I'm not concerned with the OP stealing anything. What astounds me is the planning strategy. Do you ride from your International Drive hotel in swimwear, tour Disney Springs in swimwear, board water taxi to PO in swimwear, ride carriage in swimwear? Even the quiet pools at POR require magic bands to enter the pool bathrooms and laundry. If you did not just step out of your clothes to reveal swimwear underneath, where did you change...the resort lobby? The entire episode is suspect to me, but if it is true, the word that comes to my mind is "crass".

he paid for a carriage ride, not for the use of the resort pools

Thank you for repeating what we've already gone over. You talked about what he did as if he was being a cheapskate that didn't spend any money. He did spend money, AT that particular resort. That's not comparable to being a party guest that takes a plate home.

being a cheapskate is a exactly what he is, otherwise he would have stayed at the respective resort where was enjoying the amenities. He did save money staying on International Blvd vs. the poly in all likely hood. The party guest analogy is valid as the point I was making is his total lack of social decorum. I think we can all agree that what they did is in incredibly bad taste.

Save money? He paid for a carriage ride AT the resort. Again, this isn't a clear case of getting something for free. It's breaking the rules, sure, but he did patronize the place as well.

It is getting something for free. The pool is for those staying at the hotel. Just because he purchased a carriage ride does not mean he can then use all the amenities of the resort. They didn't cheat him out of anything. He got what he paid for, he paid for a carriage ride and he got it. With your theory, someone can pay for 1 thing and then expect more benefits then what you paid for. If I paid for a weeks stay at the resort should I then get free club level, how about throw in some park tickets for free too. I bought something so I am entitled to get whatever else I decide I want for free. Come on, this is the entitled attitude so many people have now that is ruining things for the rest of us.

Except that he clearly stated that he took the boat from Disney Springs to the resort, he didn't "lie his way past the guards". He also purchased a ride on the carriage, which I'm sure costs a bit more than a cookie and drink.
I was referring to his statement below:
We visited most resorts. Had my Dole Whip at Poly etc. Only problem occurred when we got to Poly the first day( drove) and security asked if we had reservation. Wife said yes and he asked for ID to check. wife immediatly said "oh no we WANT to get a reservation" he looked at us and just said" good luck with that" and let us in..whew!

I take it that reading isn't your thing? I never said he was entitled to anything or that it made it right. Someone said he went to save money and sponged, I simply pointed out that he did spend money.

I also said that it wasn't right but it's not the class A felony that some are making it out to be. Like I said, all they have to do is add the scan stations to all pools.

Lol, social decorum. And how many people that were actually there were upset? None...just the Internet Crusaders.

they weren't upset because they didn't know, I guarantee if they (WDW employees & at least some of the guests) did know they would have been "upset"

Meanwhile, as we speak (and Fear the Walking Dead goes nowhere), there is another thread discussing sharing DDP credits....that's cool though, right? :banghead:

I will agree with @draybook that it is not a class A felony. But I think it leaves a bad taste in some of our mouths that a lot of us save for a long time to stay at these resorts and I think some of us are just a little shocked at the poor taste/morals/insert-adjective-to-describe-tactless-behavior. It's just so ridiculous to me that someone has the nerve, no matter if they paid for services at a resort or not, to actually use that resort's pool without being a registered resort guest. So now that Disney is enacting the $15/day resort fee, this makes me even more a little irritated at the gall that these individuals had.

I think it's not enough t just have the bathrooms locked (where you need your MB to use them), there needs to be a place to scan in. When we stayed at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, even the baby had to have his own room key and be "scanned" into the pool area. When Mandalay Bay states everyone needs a room key to access the pool area, they mean everyone, regardless of age, intent of swimming, eating, drinking, or just entering the facility to look around.

that's a problems too, right? Not knowing? Another reason not to stay at a Deluxe if they can't do better than that?

Derailing the thread...are the characters the same from The Walking Dead or are they different? I ended up missing the last season of Walking Dead and now I'm lost.

Different folks from LA. But to be fair, TWD started a little slow and had annoying characters, so I have to give them a chance.
