DHS to Get the DCA Treatment?

Part of the problem with that tho is.. the main bullseye in DL's TL is the Innovations building.. which is occupied by CoP here. In DL it's dispised.. in MK, CoP isn't a huge draw, but trashing it would be sacrilegious.

The best hope is Autopia really is the target and maybe that means they'd replace Indy speedway at the MK. But I think that is less likely.

Hmmm, I was sort of making the assumption that Autopia/Nemo subs was the target property since there was a strong rumor about them a month or two ago. And, as you say, that would perfectly fit with doing the same at the Speedway.

If it's Innoventions, then obviously a different story. Unless maybe they could use the SGE space....

All anyone has admitted to is 'east TL' - what is the final plan is still unspoken. But signing off on killing innovations is far easier than saying 'rip out subs, autopia, peoplemover, and redo monorail' :)

The Peoplemover is long gone in DL, isn't it? I mean, maybe some remnants are there, but the ride no longer exists I don't think.

A park and a resort are two different things, a resort being more important than a single park. Since the entire resort is what brings in revenue, not the dependence of one, sole park, WDW is the most important. It doesn't mean Disneyland can't be the flagship park.

You are right, there is a difference.

"Renowned as "The Happiest Place on Earth," Disneyland is Disney's flagship park and the centerpiece of the Disneyland Resort"

So:
Disneyland = flagship park
Disney World = flagship resort

The track is still there, but there would need to be a ton of refurbishments/new safety features that they would need to make it to OSHA compliant if they ever wanted to use it again.

You're correct, the ride is gone but the track is still there. It was used in the 90's for an attraction called the Rocket Rods (one of my favorite rides), but that was taken out a few years later. Now the track just sits there.

The timing of this is great. 2013-2015 or 2014-2016 for an opening window will potentially allow the following:
Fantasyland/Seven Dwarf's Mine Train: End of 2013
DHS Changes: 2014-2016
World of Avatar: 2016-2017

Add in the fact that once Fantasyland opens, it makes a few more Hollywood Studios attractions (Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast) redundant. I could see the rumored Tangled show replacing Beauty and the Beast, a major re-working of the Animation Courtyard, an expansion to Pixar Place and something else to unify Echo Lake to the backlot (Muppet Studios/Lucasland).

You are really, really, REALLY jumping to conclusions here.

You have to understand who Al Lutz's top sources are and what their agendas are whenever reading anything. Beyond that, what he reported is largely true, but also largely not news to anyone who has followed many fan forums (such as this one).

Disney is VERY worried about attendance at TPFKaTD-MGMS (of course, they helped push those numbers down last summer when they were closing the park three days a week at 7 p.m. too!) It is by far the park most vulnerable to getting dropped by visitors in favor of other Disney parks as well as UNI and SW parks. They know something must be done (although they also realize that new eateries aren't going to suffice at EPCOT either) in terms of adding attractions. The park is incredibly stale and that's with two relatively new attractions in AIE and TSMM as well as the redone Star Tours.

But realize that plans have been on the table for many things at the Studios as far back as 2006-07 and none of them have come close to happening. The only way that ANYTHING comes out of this would be if Burbank again steps in and pulls rank, much as they did with the modest (and, yes, to all the folks drowning in drool puddles, that's all it is) Fantasyland expansion (which does NOT feature the type of detailing that DCA 2.0 does, even though I've seen that tossed around here often of late).

TDO hasn't wanted to do the relatively cheap Monsters coaster, an upgrade to Fantasmic, adding a Pixar spinner and a new parade and removing the hat. Do you really see them saying we'll spend a billion or $700 million so our stale little park can compete better in an ever-more crowded landscape?

If so, you're very naive.

Lots of stuff on the table for DHS. Nothing greenlit. Don't expect anything even close to a DCA scale makeover, just the possible addition of a new ride, maybe (remotely possible) two.

The E for Tomorrowland at Disneyland is fully greenlit and underway.
The expansion into the ranch area isn't green, but has two potential attractions currently in development.

I just hate, being the attention I am and all, when you come in and say things before I get a chance. What can I do? Disagree with you just for the sake of it? Make another crack about your amazing singing voice? Ask how the corn crops are up your way (do you use it for the Mrs's moonshine?) Or do I just say 'yep, listen to Lee. He's right and not so polarizing a figure as the Disney-bashing meanie The Spirit!'

But you gotta love the fact that DL goes right from DCA 2.0 to multiple E-Tickets all while small scale (would be huge in FLA) stuff continues like the new character meet and greet and the new stage show coming next summer. Oh, and the fact that with crowds like this that some aspect of DCA's Phase II makeover might just happen too.

Now ... why don't we all get excited because WDW has new planning APPS coming out next month as part of the NEXT GEN billion dollar boondoggle? 'Cause when I think of going to a theme park, I think of apps!

Would TDO consider focusing all there enrgy on one park and making MK the shining Jewel of Disney Parks by next focusing on Tomorrowland? FLE is georgeous from wht we can see if they did this with Tomorrowland WOW...

I'd never waste a great word like gorgeous (even misspelled) on anything in the MK ...but to answer your question, NO.

When Fantasyland is done that's all you'll see at the MK for a long time except perhaps a new pyro show.

Close, but Disneyland is the company's flagship park, including worldwide.

In reality, there has only ever been one and shall ever be one -- and that's the one Walt built.

But from a corporate standpoint, MK is always has been (since the 70s anyway) the flagship park, which always amazes me since it is the crappiest MK-style park in the world in almost all of the keys ...

Yep.

And all the serious plans I've heard (and they have been approved so to some degree they're planned to happen) involve the Innoventions building, the pizza joint, the EO Theater and land up and, possibly, including the current Autopia queue.

Nothing I have heard from anyone reputable at all says a thing about Autopia and/or the subs being removed and I don't see either happening. Reconfiguring an entrance/exit is a different matter.

WDW and DL: hmmmm... DL technically has 2 parks. DW has 4 parks plus DTD and many many resorts plus DVC to manage! The money going into FLE I'm sure is outrageous! The money that goes into refurbing and building DVC is also ridiculous!
Carsland- comparable to Avatarland- remains to be seen, but Cars means Disney to me, not Avatar- just sayin.;)
I visit MK twice, and when TT is up and working, I visit EPCOT twice. AK is just not a fave since I ride EE, Safari, Dinosaur, PW. HS is also not my fave since I only ride TSM, TofT several times, and RnRC. AK and HS need something! I think everyone agrees on that! The timeline seems rather slow, but hopefully it'll go by fast- whatever they decide to do! I'm waiting patiently..... NOT ! LOL!:D

Makes sense to me.. with Autopia's entrance all stuffed up there along Innovation's side like it is.. and the bastardization of the area in front of Space Mountain.. reworking those areas are a DL fanboy's wet dream... right behind putting astro orbitor back up on the platform.
