I also seem to remember reading someone say that the executives wouldn't have been walking around with plans if a budget had not been approved.

I'm paraphrasing. Not saying that everything is set in stone. But it seems like more than a blue sky notion that stuff is coming
They could've been walking to go over the details of their presentation, perhaps it was even a rehearsal for a presentation where they walk the BOD around for budget approval.

Oh you wanted a press release and a parade? I'm sorry.

No, I'm saying none of this is "official" until its actually, y'know, official. I'm happy for you if you have sources you feel you can trust and claim something is definitely happening, but don't berate others who don't have that luxury. At this point it is all rumors until it's confirmed by an official source.

Certainly more than blue sky, but things can always change. Hell, Disney has officially announced projects and then backed out.

Did the parks blog ever officially announce backlot tour closing down?

Then let's not use terms like "confirmed" when they're not

Sorry, I meant confirmed as in "confirmed" to be part of these somewhat active plans/rumours (which will and most likely change a hundred more times). But that's what we currently know of to the best of our abilities.

Monster inc. coaster after all has basically been simmering on and off for years at DHS/DCA. Someone must really be fond of that project to keep pushing it over and over again. Confirmed with Disney means basically nothing until the ride opens...

I would not be surprised if nothing even comes of this at the end of the day...

... and even started construction.

Yet the project was anything but scaled back. Just wanted to point that out for those whose mindset is stuck in a different era when revisions almost always meant a slashed budget.

It looks to me as they they were finalizing plans for more than just an expanded TSMM and the walk through was just to look for any potential obstacles that might not be noticed 'virtually' or with simple drawings.

I am optimistic about the parks future plans. In my opinion.

I am excited that we at least appear to be making some progress towards fixing this park... Saying that it is not going to happen over night and anyone that is going to start moaning that it is not fast enough need to relax a little. If the park gets fixed by 2018 that is a plus with things opening in phases... this would not include Star Wars Land in my mind as this will be a sep set of projects.

I would like to see 4 new rides.... I dont care if they are all kid rides I want them to expand the footprint of the park so it is closer to a full day. One of those 4 should be a a thrill ride if possible but I wont be upset if it is not.

I think Star Wars will be included in this budget and if we do get a big thrill ride it will most likely be there and not in Pixar Place. I wish we could have one for both lands but oh well. At least the park is getting the attention it deserves. With AK getting Avatar, DHS getting a redo, and MK finishing Fantasyland, that leaves Epcot as the only park left not announced or rumored to be getting a major project. Hmmmmm........

The park doesn't need to be larger it just needs more attractions in it.

I agree on the timeline. I'm not expecting a finished product including SW Land until 2019 or 2020.

I'm not sure about a thrill ride. 2 of the 5 existing rides are already thrill rides and Star Tours has some juice as well. I am expecting the Pixar piece of the project to be family dark rides and/or flat rides with low or no height restrictions.

Star Wars has the potential for a true e-ticket which could be a thrill ride. I'm thinking maybe a hybrid of a coaster and a dark ride. Who knows, but the sky should be the limit for that one.

The Frozen ride will bring in enough to allow them not to add anything worthwhile for a long time I believe :(
