DHS Soundstage 1 Renovation - Toy Storia Mania expansion

Hmmm, great point! I never really thought of this but you are so correct! There really are not a lot of relaxing rides. Even MK has a draw where you can sit down on a park bench and just people watch for a bit. The layout of HS is just so spread out and it has tiny walkways and narrow spaces. Not a lot of wide open spaces to enjoy. I really hope they make the park easier to navigate when they bring in new rides.

My one thought: how do you visually transition between some of these proposed areas? Cars transition to Star Wars? Monster's Inc to Toy Story? I'm curious what they come up with....
Well the Monsters transition to Toy Story is actually already in place. They this bridge in Pixar Place from a scene in Monster's Inc when they thought the coaster was happening back when the land opened.

I am thinking they look at the giant merchandise machine down the street cranking out Wizarding stuff and printing money. Pixar's most marketable franchises are Cars and Toy Story with probably Monsters in the mix too. I would assume they would go with rides/areas based on these 3 franchises (Toy Story is already there). I do think there is room for some additional attractions based on less popular films if they choose to add even more. I would love to see an Incredibles dark ride and since there are rumors of a new movie they may go that route.

Wall-e just isn't that popular of a franchise and Big Hero 6 is too new and isn't Pixar. Rat ride could be cloned at WDW, but there's still a chance it ends up in EPCOT. If not it would probably work too.

I've said before, but an interesting idea would be to make an Incredibles ride for DHS and essentially clone it for DLR but use the Fantastic Four as the theme. 3/4 of the characters have the same powers and Syndrome is a great analogue for Dr. Doom. That would avoid the Marvel in WDW issue and provide some of the cost-savings of cloning a ride while proving somewhat different experiences.

Of course, the linchpin would be an interest in Disney promoting the FF, which they don't seem inclined to do with Fox having the movie rights.

Bob's sweater is too small to fit over his t-shirt (really?), and his jeans (really?) are too big in the waist. At the very least, the jeans are a bad cut.

Iger is the worst! Its a white undershirt underneath his sweater that he wore when he was in high school!! not even a shirt with a collar?? and the black bulged jeans are awful. And who is the woman sitting there wearing that blue jogging tank top with black yoga pants??? She's runner up of the worst.

I thought the same thing, "You'd think the multi-millionaire could afford a sweater that fits."

Can't happen -- Mickey's right ear is now Sunset Blvd -- before they put the street in, it was the old BatB theatre, I think (it may have been partially painted on the roof of the building that is soon to be a starbucks).

I don't believe that would've been possible -- the ear was gone long before the BAH went up.
it was a photomontage to show how dumb the hat looked from top.

It doesn't have to be FF specifically -- the Incredibles could be Orlando's answer to any Marvel attraction, regardless of the specific powers.

is there any word on a second incredibles film? they could do something amazing with a ride based around this but i don't think they would consider it unless another movie was happening and then they would would probably want to see the box office scores before they commited to spending on an Incredibles attraction.

Do you think "Carsland Lite" would use the trackless car tech that Ratatouille and Mystic Manor employ? That could be cool and enough of a difference between radiator Spring Racers.

Throw in the Monsters Inc. door coaster thingy and It would be a decent area.

I always like the idea of recreating the house from UP with the ballons taking it too flight being recreated, even as just a central Visual Landmark, would look incredible.

I'm from Manchester in England and went to DHS 2 weeks ago. Prior to this it was 2000 when i last went. I have regularly visited this site in-between and there was lots of doom and gloom about DHS. Some of the criticism rightly deserved but this park has lots of special moments for the guest that can't return annually. Yes, the back lot tour is an embarrassment (but has gone now), that car stunt show has the pace of a snail with a broken leg and no new "E Ticket" for eons but it has great things going for it. Great things like The Tower of Terror that is probably my favourite attraction in the whole of WDW and the joy of taking my father-in-law on it for the very first time two weeks ago and sharing his amazement at this ride. Great things like the Fantasmic Show, Toy Story Midway, The Hollywood Brown Derby and, despite it's age and lack of updates, the Great Movie Ride. And those little things that turn out to be some of your families favourite moments such as learning how to draw Winnie The Poo at the Animation Studio or taking time to absorb the details in some of those fantastic ride models in One Man's Dream.

I love the park already and i'm excited for all the rumoured upcoming projects its going to take the park to the next level and we should all sit back and enjoy the transformation.

I like seeing positive posts like this. Thanks :)

I feel like Incredibles and Wall-e were more popular among adults and film geeks than they were with kids. Which made them critically and financially successful, but not as marketable.
How unfortunate, Wall-e is a work of art. and Incredibles was the last film I saw with my grandfather and it has always meant a lot to me. Shame- "what's a matter with kids these days " bye bye birdie

Well given comments from @Lee (in line with his expectations) and @WDW1974 (basically made up of things we already know/he more or less confirmed some of them)...

1. TSMM third track.
2. Components of Toy Story Playland
3. Carsland Lite

And since I think that would be a let down for Lee...

4. Monsters Inc. Door Coaster OR Ratatouille (not both, more likely the former).

That seems like a project that would line up with my personal expectations (but not blow them away).

Star Wars being a different project entirely, not so much a "Phase" Two but "Project" Two that in part overlaps with the Pixar buildout.

Basically, just refer to WDSP - a coaster, a dark ride, a handful of B/C's (and TSMM already having pre-existed).

Dude, I appreciate your enthusiasm but none of that is even funded. Lee said they had to go to the Board for that kinda funding.

So those things are rumored to be proposed at the moment & subject to change.

Not trying to rain on your parade, just trying to clarify your ideas of whats been confirmed. Because nothings confirmed yet... not till they get the money.

Edit: Except TSMM 3rd track. thats confirmed, funded and happening.

I don't think he was claiming that it was confirmed. It seemed like more of a summary of the stuff the insiders have said for the last couple of weeks.

Everything is always subject to change, and budgets usually get cut, but it's sometimes fun to talk about the possibilities. Whether it's what we want or what was said is up in the air.

While we shouldn't get carried away, if all we talked about is what's confirmed this thread and all others regarding DHS combined would be less than a page.

Then let's not use terms like "confirmed" when they're not

At this point, nothing is "confirmed" even the TSMM third track. That said, I'm under the impression from this thread (from Lee) that some sort of budget has already been approved for DHS. That the budget had to go to the BoD for approval in the past, not that it has to go to the BoD in the future. I could be mistaking what has been said.

No no, third track is 100%. That's happening. I'd be comfortable printing that information.

I also seem to remember reading someone say that the executives wouldn't have been walking around with plans if a budget had not been approved.

I'm paraphrasing. Not saying that everything is set in stone. But it seems like more than a blue sky notion that stuff is coming
